Haven't done NG+, but in NG, the Caretaker only has 2 heal waves. After that, you can whittle it down eventually. In NG, you can actually kill him even before he finishes the first heal wave.
Painting ghost was a cakewalk in NG. If you're having trouble with hitting the paintings quickly, try to use the crossbow as it slows down time and is a more efficient way to deal with the paintings.

I honestly feel the devs need to add more skill slots for NG+. Geralt gets 12 slots from level 1-28, and then nothing until level 70. The enemies however keep gaining stats like health, resistances etc. Not saying these enemies can't be dealt with, but it makes the fights needlessly long due to enemies being health sponges.

Still a fun way to kill times, needlessly :)

The crossbow might be a good tip if you're looking to beat the painting lady, didn't try that.

I also killed the 5 ghosts of you know who and that was fine. Same as toad prince and the mage. It's just these healing mechanics that really are killing it for me. I don't have an overly tank build, it's pretty ballanced right now. 2 red mutagens, 1 green, 1 blue. About 3000 dps without potions buffs or oils.

Also - yeah, the fact that caretaker only has 2 healing waves was pretty much the only reason I beat him. I find it really hard to kill all the ghosts fast enough.

More skill slots would be most welcome. Even just 3-4 passive ones without a mutagen slot at the bottom would make a world of difference. Then you could put the yellow ones there.

That was my layout against the painting boss. 3k dps won't cut it. Even with above setup it was really hard. 2 hits and I'm dead. Rest of the bosses got wrecked though, well except the mage but the painting boss was the most difficult. I think fight took 3 mins or so with this setup. Sarrim silver sword and a mix of feline and full moon gear. Alchemy way better than signs especially once you get to 3 bars of adrenaline and get +100% crit damage on top with the oils.

Most of the fights ware doable for me at NG+ death march, the last fight was insane the last nightmare kept killing me it was a one hit kill (did the run under patch 1.10).

If you like to have more skill slots you can use Slots Slots SLOTS, i doubled the amount of slots that geralt can use (added 12 slots). In order to prevent geralt from being overpowerd i placed skills that will not receive any boost from the mutagens in the hidden slots.

My build is completely different. I have about 3k dps unbuffed (4k with potions and oils) but I have 240% sign damage and all my armors slots are filled with quen. Plus I'm running the legendary mastercrafted griffin set. All in all I'm very hard to kill, can take a beating and adapt to different enemies.

It's just that with *only* 3-4k dps it's really hard against the regenerating enemies. It feels like CDPR is forcing everyone into a pure sword build and that sign intensity doesn't matter anymore. I mean igni pretty much does no damage at all against caretaker, 5 ghosts and painting lady. And to get to that needed high-dps-sword build you need to beat those bosses you pretty much have to ditch all signs and blue mutagens. (which is what you've done there)

Problem is just that that isn't my playstyle. I don't really want to be a pure sword build. I like my signs, for me they are what makes the combat fun.

The real problem is the regeneration... I'm fine with the fights being hard, I'm fine with them taking a long time. I just don't want them to take FOREVER and the regeneration just makes it really, really, really hard for any other build than a pure sword build with max dps to make it.

Well yes they should do something like have sign intensity scale with lvl gain like sword damage.

So you answered your own question: for that particular fight you need more dps and the alchemy / sword build is the only way to get that dps atm. Caretaker can be done I think with signs/sword on ng+ but the wraith just no way.

But that feline set build while dealing ridiculous damage is very glass canony. It's great against most mobs which die in one sword hit and slow bosses like caretaker and toad and even greatest fear . But fast bosses like the wraith and wraith enemies in general, and the ranged mage sandstorm attack still gave plenty of problems and were very dangerous. Once i have three adrenaline bars and pop a superior blizzard everything runs more smoothly though. For security I do sometimes slot in rage management to spam quen faster.
