We could buy a house in the Witcher 1 so why not? Finding a house / home / your place in the world would be a strong motivation in the Witcher 3. A place of peaceful rest for Geralt like Malus Island. But everybody knows Geralt can't rest for too long :). The house would be probably raided and burned to the ground.

Unless you mean that quest where you are...REWARDED that place. Which again wasn't a "house"

We could get it as a reward for a quest. @sidspyker - it was a hut but I remember Geralt wanted to stay and live there. For a moment at least...

I guess it really depends on what the devs decide ultimately, in TW2 you were in pursuit of Letho to clear your name so buying a house wasn't something that would make sense. In TW3 you're chasing the Wild Hunt so again I don't think it'll make much sense but we'll see.

There is a lot of Red Dead Redemption praise in the interviews. So without spoilers - I think we'll see something similar. That is my guess. I'd like the house to be something Geralt wants to come back after all years of struggle. Something connected with story.

That's the only way I think it'd work. Triss and him talked (I think in the underground pool in TW2 CHI) about settling down and forgetting about the kingslayer. Obviously things will have changed since he has his memory back.

 . . . . . Geralt is a nomad, rather then buy a house, I would rather make geralt rebuild the Kaer Morhen. if not, well at least we could revisit the place . . .

No houses for sale. Room for Geralt in every Inn to keep your items would be enough.

Or maybe a dwarf bank in every town (not village). I mean like the bank in world of warcraft. It's not a bad idea is it? And I support the no house idea - this is not skyrim.

Geralt is not the kind of a person that would need a house tbh, he's always on the road looking for work.

Base of operations?

In Witcher 3 we have open world, so is there going to be a base of operations? Like castle or something? If so, please make it upgradeable and story influencing, dont make mistake like those guys in DA:I !

Geralt, in the tradition of witchers, is a nomad. He lodges with patrons and at inns that haven't thrown him out, he sleeps rough when he has to, and he makes do with what Roach can carry. He has no base of operations as such. His school used to have winter quarters at Kaer Morhen, but it is now ruined. These are essential elements of his story.

I know it doesn't really fit the lore, but my Geralt would love to buy a house in Novigrad for his retirement . That's why I hope the devs release the Red Kit as soon as possible after release, so there will be still a lot of people modding amazing stuff into the game.
