How Challenging has learning Djinni been? Why?

The most important question to the poll is, "Why is it challenging" and "What would make it easier?"We at [glow=red,2,300]REDFlame[/glow] Interactive ( http://www.witchermod.com/ ) realise the challenge in a highly advanced toolset with tons of high-quality, specific and detailed options and processes. The trouble is making such an advanced tool accessible for nearly anyone. In the interest of providing easier paths to using this tool, we're developing "Template Adventure Modules" to post for anyone to use to start their sort of game:"Mystery""Social""Arena""Military Campaign""Epic Story"This, of course, will not be easy. We want as many types as possible, but, we for now have to limit the "templates" to the above for simplicity and time purposes. Also, we understand that the Witcher has many unique and memorable elements which distinguish it amongts its "peers" in the gaming world! REDFlame is making a "feature demo" module to release to the modding community which demonstrates these features in easy-to-test areas, using a little wit and a lot of "in game documentation". It's the next step after a video tutorial: how to add your favorite Witcher moments to your new adventure to share with all of us.Please post here "What is challenging" and "what would make it easier". Thanks for your feedback; we've only just begun to swim! 8)

I’ve chosen 2nd option. I’m not new to the modding, but it is first time when I use aurora toolset. Working with D’jinni is rather easy - we’ve got official manual and the Price of Neutrality mod, which gives great opportunity to analyze many things. ATM only scripts are some kind of magic for me, as the scripting language is quite complex - it needs some time to learn and practice.

We have partially answered this question together – give us more mods, and we will be very happy.Template modules are great idea, thank you very much. I can’t wait to test them out and make some use of them. :)

Welcome to the tavern, Entom... pull up a chair, tell us what you like to make in advenures in our "Adventure Tales" (http://www.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=13479.0 ) discussion thread. Tell us a little about your experiences, maybe even your history, and what you'd like to see happen in a perfect modding world of the Witcher :)

I find Djinni pretty easy to get into. But atm I'm facing a more annoying problem: crashes. The editor crashes like every 5min, it used to work at least a bit more smoothly some days ago. But for now it's just horrible.

Here's Paul's Tips To Avoid Crashing:a) Don't edit an area and have more than 2 item properites open: juggling properties while all your graphics are cycling animations tends to eat up the cache.b) Save every 5 minutesc) turn off: Skype, Ventrilo, Trillian, i.e. all your continuously-updating programs while using it. Again, we're trying to not fill up the cache with extra datad) defrag (I don't know why this works, but it usually increases performance rather well if I defrag monthly, reducing crashiness)If you do all of the above and it's still crashing, how large an area are you editing? Kaer Morhen and surrounds is enormous, and while chugging through all that terrain you may want to save as often as possible.Hope this helps! :)

Well, I've defraged my HDD, closed every program and unnecessary services and still djinni crashes way too often.Let's face it - the editor is more lika an alpha version than anything else.Good luck to you guys when you're digging deep in the editor. You'll need it.

After useing the NWN2 Toolset for a year....The Witcher toolset has me 100% confused. The interface is nothing like NWN2's...Thus I am lost.

One thing to understand. Djinni is not the same engine as NWN2. NWN2 was a port of the original Aurora engine into their Electron engine, and thus had it's own toolset and features.Djinni is also a port directly from the original Aurora Engine. The only thing that is comparable between the two is the original engine, but both were heavily modified. That being said, if you go through http://djinni.wikia.com and run through the basic tutorials there, you will get the hang of the basics after a bit of trial and error. We will be launching more advanced tutorials as we progress, and pretty soon we should have the entire toolset and exporter completely documented. :)

As to the above crashiness, has anybody run it stable for more than 5 mins ?I do not think the devs would have been able to finish the game in these conditions.Maybe we're missing somethuing .. ??
