I think Ive told it before in another thread, but I'll expand on the details...
It was early 2009 (January-March), I had "come back" to gaming just a year before, from a long hiatus, and had only tried Vampire: Bloodlines, which I loved (characters and story) but hadnt been able to finish because of the bugs and kind of irritating combat... Maybe also because I was still a little "rusty", cause that happened also with other games.
Not having too much money, I was trading at the time in GAMETZ, and using my awesome back-catalog

of old boxed games to get new-ones. Trying to find smthg I came upon the Witcher, which, believe it or not, a substancial number of people were trying to get rid of (even of the Enhanced Edition!!). I myself was trying to get rid of "I have no mouth and I must scream" (too old for my PC of the time) and thought a luxury edition of this game could very well worth it. I only knew that the game was loosely based on the "Baldurs Gate" type of RPGs, and that it was restricted for +18 years old... It sounded good. And it was the best deal of my life.
Actually my PC couldnt run it, so I had to get an upgrade. The opening scene absolutely blew my mind -I must ve watched that like 50 times, each time I launched the game,

-. By the end of chapter 1, when this wretched mutant

and outcast saves the day by actually giving a speech about being mercyful and kind, instead of resorting to his sword, I was totally in love with the guy.

But it wasnt only that the protagonist was cool and badass. THIS was clearly a very well thought out game, crammed with details, and impressive atmosphere and music, of a caliber I had rarely seen in games before...
The luscious package of the Enhanced Edition also impressed me, together with the fact that these were Polish developers.
All through that rainy and cold Winter (July over here) I devoured that game. And despite my "clumsiness", and the little I remembered of RPGs and stats and all that,

I was able to beat the game, totally elated by the epic last stages of the story.
At first I roamed this forum in silence, for months, learning about Sapkowski, appreciating the friendly attitude of the members, and salivating on the promise of a sequel (back then we only had an unnoficial "leaked" video to cling our hopes to).
When The Witcher 2 was officially announced -March 2010?-, I popped up from the darkness with an appropriate April Fools' Joke.
