I kinda like the way they have done this, kinda wish they hade gone further tbh. But thats where mods come in
I kinda like that tbh, it's fucking consistent with the motherfucking dystopia that is the setting, IMHO.Well, I find the language most offensive - to the point I wish there was a "less swearing" option in the menu... Not sure how good or bad it is in the English version, but in the Polish one (so mother tongue for the creators) it's a bit over the top at times.
Yes I also got this feeling, like V telling that working aw a bartender in a simple gay club is somewhat "quirky" and strange in a world where there are places like Clouds and surprised that there are male moxciesSo to me, the Chromanticore advert feels very much designed from the POV of someone who's a bit too trapped in the real world of 2023, when they should've looked at it from the POV of people in 2077 NC.
Had to sure. Sorry, but while I thought recalled username, OP came out like someone not very good with GTP.Mainly adult themes, like psychological trauma or sociopolitical topics. The second part is about the depiction of sexual or explicit content so I guess both
Care to cite any of those medias? I'm genuinely curious, as I have also read and watched most things out there. Blade Runner is interesting choice as I don't recall anything signaling any kind of hyper sexuality in that movie. Main philosophical questions present in movie have also split followers for decades after alternate cut, has nothing to do with this topic either. There is visual style they chose to city back in the day and I think that's all there is.I don't really agree on this bit. I've watched and read most cyberpunk material out there and they manage to communicate that hyper sexualized era without making it feel senseless. You get that from Blade Runner without every billboard having ass cheeks. Again, it's the execution.

"HOW DO PPL FEEL ABOUT THE BALANCING OF MATURE THEMES AND CENSORSHIP?"
Have always felt that the developers were forced to take large leaps back to not go out of line on accord of certain parties concerning "mature themes".
That's it. It feels like they wanted a mature game but then realized it would affect sales so they waked it back. Then they realized the world needed to feel mature so someone said "let's just add a genitals slider and throw some ass cheeks on billboards". It just all feels very clumsily put together. It has nothing to do with "certain parties" and everything to do with the likelihood of getting bumped up to an AO rating which would kneecap their ability to sell and market the game.
Very true, when it comes to the side quests it's well executed. It's the other surface level stuff that feels uneven. On the whole it felt fairly uneven to me, almost as if they wanted to have an adults-only world, then walked it back (I know Sony is weird on censorship - Trish's bum in DMCV on PS4 for example - this was later patched out iirc) As far as how it depits sexuality, nudity etc. as commodified by the corps I thought it did a great job of making some hyper-sexualised aspects mundane and unerotic. I thought it handled sex workers and the seedier aspects of the world (XBDs, Dolls) rather well (Clouds' dolls reminded me of William Gibson's meat puppets)...
Depictions of sexual expression available to the player are sorely missing though, I understand the reasons. (Of all the sexual depictions in game I'm not allowed to run through Corpo Plaza in the nip?!) There are a couple of NPCs that display this well, but they are rather rare. (Thinking of the punk girl in the outfit with the partially exposed breasts.)
You seem to misunderstand the post entirely. The issue isn't having M-rated content, its poorly executing said content. The billboards feel like a 14 yr old wet dream, genital slider to make your junk as big as you want to no end, dildo's and ass cheeks everywhere. It's the creative choices that I'm saying are very poor.Had to sure. Sorry, but while I thought recalled username, OP came out like someone not very good with GTP.
So to make this very simple, you are basically suggesting that you think you experience with game would be better if CDPR self-censored some content, certain adverts like Mifguard, Bottoms Up, Bawdy Dog, without censoring other story elements and M-rated graphical content relevant (naked bodies, torture, snuff) to these story lines.
I don't usually nit pick about things like using correct terms, but censorship is something governments can do. In Night City government has no such power. Adverts we see, are logical conclusion. Obviously though, you meant CDPR and their choices in design of Night City.
There's a mod if you play on PC called Modest Ads 2077. If you are on console, too bad, but this is one of those things that belongs to mod scene. The basic problem is people wanting say M-rated content, but not all of it. Then all the possible things people can find offensive, that list is endless. For you it's like Miflguard ad, for someone else it's NiCola ad that's also offensive, then for someone may be really offended that there's sex shop in game. It never ends.

I do understand what you mean, sort of, but this is not Blade Runner nor Sprawl, this is Night City.
Same. I'd understand if it was just choosing pubic hair options for female characters in the name of Cyberpunk oversexualisation, but I don't really see it as having much of a point.i still do not get the idea of choosing the genitals lol
Agreed, the Anglo-Saxon countries only have fuck and fucking, as far as swearwords go they have the creativity of a Star Wars Sequels writer. That's what I thought. English is much less sophisticated ((just "f**k", "s**t" and all the variances) when it comes to swearing compared to Slavic languages
. And it looks like CDPR have exhausted all the possibilities...
It turns out that all the languages are available. I'll have a go at the English version, also to hear Keanu a bit (although the Polish counterpart plays his role remarkably and is a well-known actor here as well).
Agreed. This game was more tame than The Witcher. It should have been way more daring. It adds spice to the atmosphere. If I were the developers, there would have been a lot more of it. I've always had a vivid imagination. MIke Pondsmith did a good job creating this lore. So many interactions and side missions, make me think about real life. In the year of 2077, it appears as if many of Night City's citizens are victims of a colossal CORPO influence. Having experienced four corporate wars, people go about their day to day different. Similar to Las Vegas, there will people who come out at night to find a relief. That's where our mature themes come into play. In the year of 2077, I doubt your average citizen has to look far to find a late night date. Hard to imagine that dating services are still in existence, when you have places like Clouds and street prostitution, and AI-Robots that can look, feel, and sound like a real person.
The second game will probably have more interactive romance. CDPR broke the ice with a few elements, but restrained themselves from going all out. As I mentioned before, this probably had a lot to do with the game being sold in retail stores. Now that people have gotten use to the title, they can take a deeper dive. There is so much more that could have been done, as far as using romance to further benefit V's goals. Seducing the NUSA president and stealing information would have been cool.
Yep, always wonder too. Seem strange to meI'll never understand why dismemberment is fine but sex needs to be toned down.
Meanwhile in TW3 base game you had a choice of SIX, and in TW2 even a larger number. Why are the Middle Ages more sexually liberated than a Cyberpunk society???Why are there countless hookers in the game but you can hook up with only two of them?
I find "misunderstanding" rather strange interpretation. You seem to misunderstand the post entirely. The issue isn't having M-rated content, its poorly executing said content. As for Bladerunner, the Hollowgraphic girls exist to satisfy customers desires, there are prostitutes, replicant prostitutes. It's there, it's just not overdone to the point of exhaustion because it's not necessary. It just feels like the game is trying too hard to be edgy, only to fail at delivering that mature aspect it's trying so hard to convey.
It achieves this in the story elements with Judy and Evelyn but the other stuff falls flat.
i still do not get the idea of choosing the genitals lol
That was even stranger considering the witcher 3 had those things. It's likely a compromise for sales as many others have said. They wanted to exceed Witcher 3 sales and I guess the best way to do that is to ensure CP2077 wasn't banned anywhere for having extensive sexual content. Why are there countless hookers in the game but you can hook up with only two of them?
Sorry but that's just a poor excuse for poor game design. When you and I go out in public we see "skin color, eyes, shape, nose" for every individual....we do not see their genitals. You do not need a genital slider for representation. Representing ppl with big/small genitals or breasts? really mate? That's your argument? It's literally the same idea behind being able to choose your skin colour, eye shape, nose, mouth, complexion, etc. Genitals were added to that list - they're just another part of the body. Some people are a bit stuck in their heads and just can't seem to get over it though.
The general idea is that you get to create a custom character. And if you're going to make a character creator then obviously it's great to offer as much representation to players as you can. It makes it more inclusive. Personally, I love that this CC allows you to create a trans character as well as cis. I'm sure a lot of trans people appreciate it too.
What I would improve though is making gender its own attribute independent of voice (while some trans individuals might change that aspect of themselves, not everyone does - transitioning is varied and different for everyone). Plus gender neutral/fluid options if that's doable.
Only other thing I'd add are more body options so it's not just the slim/athletic builds.
