How do you get yourself back in the mood for another playthrough?

+
Normally, I get in the mood for this or that game after seeing a film or reading a book that triggers my desire to go fly jets/spaceships, wield a sword, jump into grand strategy, or hop in a Delemain and go become a specialty drink at the Afterlife.

I don't. I play whatever game I'm in the mood to play.

Specifically for CP2077, I usually pick it back up for a few dozen hours if I see or read something really interesting that's cyberpunk. Usually that makes me think something like, "that would be an interesting alternative world to live in", and until somebody invents the Holodeck, video games are as close as I will get to a temporary alternative existence.

This game checks more boxes than any other game I have ever played. So it's become my comfort food in gaming. I don't think I'll ever put it down really. I'll take breaks sure, but I'll always come back with some sense of curiosity.
There's still some builds I haven't tried. I want to also craft every gun I can get and test different mods with them to see what does what. Same with melee weapons.
There are certain story experiences that I sometimes get this hankering to replay and study deeply again.
I love zipping through the city on my Peacekeeper bike and watch the amazing view zoom by. The same way I also love to just walk around and soak the city into my veins.
Cyberpunk 2077 is my "booster".:ok:

After an extensive break from cb77, how do you get yourself back in the mood to play it again?
If possible I can manage three playthroughs a year, so that's approximately 2-3 months between each start-up. I love replaying games, especially RPGs and Immersive Sims, because it's always something new to discover.
  • You should set goals. Make a document with tables where you mark down what you've done, and what you want to do next, e.g. a list of all the Fixer Gigs and Side Jobs in Night City.
  • The most important thing for me though is the opportunity to live another life in another world. It's very relaxing to take a break from base reality and explore a virtual one.

I'm interested in the game, low-key, all the time. But ebbs and flows. I rarely do full run-throughs, instead just sampling chunks here and there. Buffet, not sit down meal.

It kind of seems to happen on it's own.

I played on PS5(PS4 launch edition) when it first came out. Again on the PS5 official release, then got it on PC, Then mods kept it interesting, now a friend I've been trying to convince to play finally picked it up so that inspired playing again (with a clean install and new set of mods from an overhaul collection)

Point is I don't really need to get my self psyched up for it, I play other games for a bit and then something makes CP2077 pop into my head and I'm right back at it, Although if I'm being honest since getting the new(Beefy) PC, the only way I play now is with mods, love the base game but there are a few things I'd miss.

For me it took 1200 hours plus before I uninstalled. I still get the itch to reinstall and play.
Play just past the heist and then explore.
No vehicles, no fast travel, no using the free items you start off with other than the basic weapons.
Play as someone with absolutely nothing.

And install these mods...
Enemies of Night City
Night City Alive

There are more mods that add allot to the game and they really make it a different experience. Specially when an enemy netrunner can take you out in a sec. Forces you to scan and prioritise targets.

I do the opposite. I never do buffet, always sit down meals.

Just out of curiosity; what chunks of the experience do you sample? Is it things you haven't seen before, or do you return to experience your favorite moments over again?

I don't care I like the story but sometimes funny glitches

Can you pls gimme the gist of each of those 2 mods? enemies and night? What do they add to the game? I am on PS5 console.

I got a idea for the next game the second one not the first one

For the sequel, please include a built-in mod browser like Bethesda games so console players can experience hardcore survival mods like Dark Future." Companies are much more likely to listen to feature requests for games they are currently building!

Because I see dark future and it's a mod and you have to take care of your character if one of them goes to zero you're dead if I read the mod right if you add it in I might come back for the second game you guys are now working on it I might come back and play it I don't care if it's buggy or glitchy I just like a challenge for my survival in the second game

I am still playing somehow, it feels just free. I am still exploring new things i cant believe they put so much thing into the game. No online connection necessary. But i need an update for my ruined performance 2.3 took my gaming joy a bit.

I know you were asking ExStream.... but since I'm familiar with both mods....

Enemies of Night City, Makes enemies a bit tougher or more varied. Like some are immune to being grappled, Or certain quick hacks. They also have more varied Cyberware and hacks that they can use. things like that. the mod page has aa hugely detailed list of all the new perks/abilities/etc... that enemies can have and how the different gangs are effected. This mod heavily effects stealth optional objectives in my opinion.

Night city alive makes NC feel "More dangerous" or like how the city is described in lore. How does it do that. More gang members in traffic, more random violence, Civilians are more hostile if they feel threatened they're also better armed(i think), basically it reworks everything from gangs to civilians to NCPD, to make them more reactive, but a lot of those reactions are violent. The mod page on nexus has a quick overview of how each group is effected by the mod.

Edit: I'm currently using Enemies of Night city... I am not currently using Night City Alive... If I can suggest another mod that compliments both of these mods try "Stealthrunner" it ads new optional objectives to gigs/ncpd/side missions like "Hero" for saving civilians in trouble, or "ghost" for not being detected. and also a new perk tree linked to completing those optional challenges.
