Third one is better, the second triss looked so ugly that i ditched her and sleeped with everyone i could just to spite her, I was hoping she would actually die in one of the ending but no luck and thats mainly because they made triss 2 look like natalie portman. disgusting.

Now, she is tolarable and MAYBE can be considered a choice, otherwise I would ditch her no questions asked. probably facilitate her death as well.

Man, you sure have insanely high standards for your digital sex partners. Also, the desire to murder her for being a hotness "failure" is slightly concerning.

She was just annoying and desperate, is as if they made her for you to hate. there was no attraction and anything that existed was forced down your throat from the begining by the devs.

Boys under 20 prolly love it.
Is it marketing trick hoping sex sells? That would be shame and disapointed at same time a good game don't need tits to sell.
I liked old triss better.
I just want a good game thats authentic and true to the lore and middle ages.

Considering how all the other witches ran about in the second game, it suppose Triss is still pretty tame. And it isn't that much cleavage really, just take a look outside right about now (summer)...

The TW2 outfit was personally quite iconic and managed to look visually pleasing and aesthetically great, as well as not being "sexualized" at all. Was a huge plus in my book.

Nothing wrong with the TW3 one. Haven't seen enough to give a proper impression, but from the little we see it looks quite colorful and there is nothing wrong with some cleavage.

The way I see it Triss had to be made more appealing sexually, because of a new stinking hot player in town named Yennefer.
Both parties must have something to offer to make the choice more weighty.

Why do people love this explanation so much? There's no evidence for it. It just smacks of rationalization to me.

There is indeed no evidence for it, that's why he said "The way I see it...".

It's not like Triss can show Geralt anything he hasn't had many opportunities to peruse already. No, the only explanation needed is artistic license.

Do you mean CDPR don't have a license to use their own design from the previous game? They just want something new to make, so I'm not sure why license is important here.

I think Guy means artistic intent. Triss is confident enough to show off a bit and CDPR has crafted a sensible outfit for her to do that. I find it interesting that Yen's outfit is far more conservative and with less flair. I wonder if there's a reason beyond aesthetics for the respective designs.

What slimgrin said. Artistic license does not mean the legality of making derivative works. It means the freedom granted to an artist to interpret or reinterpret according to his intent or the needs of the medium, without the burden of criticism.Artistic license may vary in scope from the detail of the neckline of Triss's doublet to Shakespeare's wholesale rewrites of British history (and Verdi's rewrites of Shakespeare undertaken to make his plays into operas). For example, much argument has obtained over whether the dwarves' beards in Jackson's Hobbit movies are valid uses of artistic license.

This is unfortunately true. There was never a concrete argument CDPR uses this maketing trick but now we know they at least understand audience wants/expects such things.
All people who read passages from 'certain' script from a 'certain' CDPR material in which talking of 'using boob mechanic to attract journalists interest' in a 'certain' quest cutscene knows what I am refering to.

Edit:
Not to say I dissaprove of usage of such a trick. It just had my suspicions about CPDR using it proved.

Mod: let's keep the personal part out of this discussion.

Wait... What? Millions of women all around the world, every day, wear revealing clothes and stuff that is far more revealing then what Triss is wearing in TW3 or even her Battle Attire in TW1 (The Green dress probably pushes the boundary a little too far as to the average woman in public) and apparently someone is "Less human" if they are showing some cleavage?

I just think it's honestly a really, REALLY, gross over-exaggeration and you're clearly looking at the character from a very surface deep level. Triss IS powerful, she IS intelligent, she IS strong... Just because she's showing a bit of cleavage doesn't magically tear that away. Triss is a great character, and portrayed very well and it's superb how they can bring totally different elements to the character in the second game to reflect the very different situation all the characters are in because of the plot, yet still make her feel like the Triss we know. A bit of cleavage doesn't take away from that at all, not one bit.

I... I just... No. Is Saskia now not a legitimate character? Nor is Ves? Nor is Sile?
(I only just realized you were referring to the Playboy shoot by that comment, so the references to other characters probably doesn't fit, but still, the notion that a playboy shoot somehow takes away from her being legitimate character is absurd).

Very interesting point and perspective. It's interesting how people (usually social justice warriors, or whatever the hell they're called) complain about the representation of women in media yet if I google sexy female cosplayers, my brain is going to melt by all the women who willingly dress, well, next to nude in order to portray and present a character. It's too much skin to handle! That much breast and ass makes my mind work overtime. Oddly enough, that seems to be totally fine, yet a person designs Triss in a more revealing outfit and all hell breaks loose?

I guess old values and traditions die hard. Portray a man in a sexy way and I'm pretty sure people are going assume he's gay or some kind of weakling. Portray a woman in a strong, independent and not being traditionally beautiful and suddenly boys ('cause only immature boys could possible think this) find said person as a "bossy", boring and uninteresting character. I guess Mouse was saying that we need to start breaking old stereotypes and old norms sooner rather than later. Thus giving both sexes as much chance to shine based on their personality and not their looks. Or rather, not ONLY their looks.

Bah, I don't know. Just spitballing here. Some genuinely cool comments on here though. It's refreshing and I do enjoy me some intellectual stimulation.

I'd say Triss showing up in Playboy was a pretty blatant example of that.

Yep, sex sells alright.
But I'm sure that is not why it's in the game. I think it's in the game because its cool, it's story driven, personal, tasteful and fun for adults.
I am almost certain, we will have great sex, violence, sadness, drama, suspence, action fear and humor to say the least.
Anyways..
This game has no more loading screens, and that alone gives me a boner.;)..lol

How come it's not sexist or misogynist when a woman chooses to wear revealing outfits in real life, but a character designer designing a woman that has chosen to wear revealing outfits in a game is sexist and misogynist ?
The designers create a character, and the character is supposed to be a woman who chooses to wear revealing outfits like many do in real life. How does that make the developer, the designer, and game misogynist ?
It's like saying God or the creator (game developer) is misogynist for giving women breasts, cloth designer (character designer) is misogynist for creating revealing outfits, and so life (game) is misogynistic as a result.
That being said I like Triss's outfit from Witcher 2 more than her outfit in Witcher 3, because I just do. It's a matter of taste and opinion, and not about over complicating things with bringing sexism and misogynism into the equation.

We are talking about a game that is set in a fantasy world with Elves, Dwarves, and Mages for fuck's sake.

A post has been deleted. Please avoid making personal attacks in posts, and if you want to discuss topics such as misogyny further, there's a more-appropriate thread here:

Can someone please point me to the arguments lore wise (that means looking from the books where Triss chest was burned or wounded in a way that she never would wear a costume revealing like this (or in The Witcher 1 at the beginning?)) which have been made in this thread which justify the choice of the Devs for this outfit? I thought someone has mentioned arguments concerning the lore ^^
