Come to think of it, in the games Geralt is never physically tired, no matter who he fights. Maybe except for the fight with draug.

but this particular fight in W2, the game tells you that you will probably die if you save Triss. The odds are stacked against Geralt and now would be a good time to show how vulnerable witchers can be.

Damn, this happening to me two times in the same day. Wth? In any case, Geralt literally cuts a lot of them in half before falling himself. I think it takes a lot of manpower to take down one single witcher, let alone taking on Kaer Morhen. Maybe not 75 people, but then again, why not?

Here's another vid instead. Brings back fond memories it does.

At least, you could have stayed true to Poland:

Or otherwise you could have gone fully batshit crazy:

He was visibly winded after losing the initial fight to Letho (and taking an Aard to the face/chest), and he after fighting Letho again at the end-game, he does have a flesh wound, so he certainly wouldn't be near 100% after those two encounters.

Actually, an average mercenary is a professional soldier who spends years honing his craft. None of the guys in modern videos ever come close to a real deal, you know.

A mercenary is simply someone who fights for money, especially if he's a foreigner. It does not automatically imply great skills. I highly doubt that the *average* mercenary had access to Capo Ferro or the works of Liechtenauer.

A mercenary who gets cut down within the first 5 minutes of his first battle would still have been a mercenary.

Well, it implies that, first, he was hired (it would require some level of skill), and, second, that he survived. Ancient/medieval melee battles were not a mean feat, and swinging a sword or shooting a bow for extended periods of time, while trying not to be slaughtered, was extremely tiring. Those who were incapable, or did not know what they were doing, did not survive.
In modern literature I think of Bronn from ASoIaF, who was a tough and vicious bastard, not afraid to fight dirty. A company of men like this, who make it their craft to fight wars for money, and do it for years, is not easily killed, and they won't be easily bullied or scared into submission. Bad for business.

While that may be true just as a matter of definition, RL mercenaries such as the Varangian Guard, the White Company, the Landsknechte, or the gallowglass clans like the MacSweeneys were highly trained, well equipped, disciplined veteran soldiers. They were valued for their skills and experience and paid accordingly. Nobody but Falstaff would send a company of ragamuffins into battle, and nobody would pay him to do so.

"Access to the works of Liechtenauer" would be an irrelevancy, as one learns swordsmanship from a master at arms, not a book. And many of the finest of these led mercenary companies.

Of course, but for every one such as the Varangian Guard, there are mercenary bands that we've never ever heard of because they sank into the depths of history without any glory or honor. Futhermore, the Varangians were the personal bodyguard of the Byzantine Emperors, not the rank-and-file soldier of the army.

In other words, I would not classify them as the "average" mercenary -- they were the elites.
