You know what we haven't discussed with regards to this topic? Style, practicality and how they should correspond to game mechanics.

Guns are heavy. You don't actually want to carry 20 different guns plus all their ammo on you, particularly when you are going to have to fight. What you want is a versatile weapon that can handle as many different situations as possible that is reliable beyond belief. It should ideally be easy to repair on the fly, just in case.

And as much as I want to look like a walking armoury, that look should not be suitable for most situations. Remember how kids poked fun at Geralt's second sword?

In Cyberpunk, IMO, a character needs (when fully packed, ready to go) at least one handgun (or light smg), an assault rifle (or sub-machine gun, or shotgun, something more "powerfull" than usual 9mm), a close-combat/melee weapon (knives, rippers, etc...), a few different types of ammo for each guns, differents types of grenades (but I'd put this in equipment more than "primal weapon") and that's it.

With this you can counter almost any situation. Then, there are the "extra weapon" you'll need sometimes, but you don't need to walk around with your rocket launcher sticked on your back, it's quite a bad idea actually, you'll go get it when you need it.

The things who really makes the difference are all the gadgets, the equipments you have and how well prepared you are (having enought ammos, etc..) , more than how many guns you can carry (you only have two hands, it won't help much)

There should have a lot of guns, equipments, etc...
So players can make their own "toolkit", like this one gun is good for one thing, and this one is better for something else, or just about how it handles or it's options, player's choice (and weapon's stat, but there should be a shitload of different guns for every category, like in the pnp)

Personally, my longest running 2020 character used to have a couple of outfits depending on what was needed, these included:

Smartlinked M-60D Machinegun
Smartlinked Electro-thermally enhanced .50 cal Semi-Auto Rifle
Rotary 40mm Grenade Launcher
Semi-Auto 10ga Shotgun (which with the flick of a secret switch could become Full-Auto.)
Smartlinked .454 Electro-thermally enhanced Revolver
A pair of 11mm Machine Pistols

However, almost every time this character went anywhere I took half a dozen knives, a pair of mono-knives and a couple of lengths of mono-wire. I also had a thing for explosives and IED's.

I would normally carry between 2 and 4 guns, plus a couple more hidden in my car, as well as explosives and all sorts.

Don't ask about the crazy shit I carried when I went full-borg...
