How much humor should there be in CP2077

In the 90s, humor was an integral part of video games.

In titles like Final Fantasy, Fallou 1 & 2, Monkey Island, , Redneck Rampage, Grim Fandango, even Doom 1 & 2 (the backstory -- which arguably no one but me has read is about a space marine who is also a porn addict that has his pet rabbit get killed by the forces of hell and vows revenge), most early FPS.

the list goes on and on

even some serious titles like Gabriel Knight and Final Fantasy VIII had a lot of tongue in cheek humor,

However, in the 2000s, there was not so many funny games anymore. I can't think of AAA games with good jokes. FO3 had tongue in cheeks moments but it was nowhere near the caliber of Fallout 1 & 2. It is regrettable, and I think the majority of games suffer for it.

But enough about me, what says you?

Every game in the GTA series, really everything Rockstar has ever made, has been hilarious, nothing over the top or too obvious, except for maybe the radio, but gut bustingly hilarious.

Saints Row 2 was funny, with humor along the lines of GTA, but SR3 and so on just got retarded... humor for people who think the white trash comedy tour is the pinnacle of yuks..

The Uncharted games, brilliant, hilarious...

Humor in video games works best when its subtle, if the jokes are obvious are forced, its always crap... especially after hearing/seeing them more than once...

Are you kidding?

GTA humor * is like that horrible movie where Steve Martin dressed up like Snoop Dogg. Absolutly nothing subtle about it. It's like a comedian that does nothing but inside jokes that panders to gangster wannabes.

EDIT: *After Vice city.

I like my comedy black. Ever seen In Bruges? Something like that, still dark depressing and atmospheric, but with parts that can make you laugh none the less.

I'd like there to be certain amount of humor, but amounting within good tastes. Fallout had that, Fallout 2 went overboard by comparison, and Fallout 3's humor was stupid but not funny. Something akin to Robocop's dark and satiric TV-commercials and news casts would be nice, though obviously not at every corner.

humor being an entirely subjective matter should not be paramount to the game. it cannot be designed to be "humorous" as not everyone has the same sense of humor, and thus designing it to be funny is designing it to fail.

do I hope to find some funny moments in the game? yes. but I don't expect CDPR to go out of their way to try to make something "funny" just for the sake of doing it, because it is nearly impossible to create something that everyone will find funny.

Both Witcher games are chock full of humor. It's mostly understated and occasionally bawdy, and I never feel they overdo it. It'll be interesting to see what angle they take with '77.

Situational humor is best kind of humor for game like this. [ IMHO ]

I mean there have to be some really silly shit there sometimes. [It's Cyberpunk]

Dark and dystopian future, gloomy and sullen. No place for humor IMO.

Yeah, my idea for a Cyberpunk game is quite depressive… :(

what have you got against FO: New Vegas exactly? specially since it seems like it would be right up your ally (the wild wasteland perk lets you find indy in a fridge)

But OT, humor is important, things that are po faced the whole time are as unrealistic as Saints Row 4

Honestly i would not mind seeing some tounge-in-cheek humor, or flat out nuts things. This is after all the world of poser gangs, style, and pure insanity.

Coming across a poser gang getting beat-downs by an actual gang would be freakin gold, for example.

I want lots of dark humor with some really sarcastic people in the game. That would be cool. Not too much though, maybe the same amount like in Witcher 3.

Some mild type of humor which fits the settings. Not over exaggerated. Total Recall level might be just enough.

That said, I don't mind some characters like Fergee from Judge Dredd in the game.

This question should be outside of games. Cyberpunk 2077, as any modern game (including The Witcher 3), will take a some sort of a 'cinematic' approach, so the inspiration should also come from cinema. My bet is that Guy Ritchie's dialouge humor, as much as I and else would dislike it, should fit right in and without breaking the game's flow and atmosphere. Fallout 1-2 dealt with dialog humor pretty well.

Just as much as there was in TW3. Humour is in our everyday lives, and even in the darkest of times it still exists, so I see nothing wrong with a bit of humour sprinkled throughout the game.

i find the witcher 3's humor Fitting for this set too.

i mean it's all a cold and murdery and rapey, everything is so serious and bold, and geralt says : "you smell wonderful in this funeral"
i mean, the first thing that manages to get out of all that darkness is Super Funny and shocking (shocking because the mood is dark) .
so i bet in Cyberpunk2077 We will have this kind of jokes and humor ( and i hope for it)
