How old is Geralt of Rivia?

How old is he? Do witchers have longer lifespans?

I read somewhere today, that he is about 100 years old. Don't know where though and I can't confirm that myself.Edit: He is 100 year old according to this thread: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gamehunters/post/2011/05/five-things-you-didnt-know-about-the-witcher-2/1Which has also been discussed here: http://tw2.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=30492.435Don't know about the rest of the witchers though, but maybe it is due to his mutations..

Witchers indeed have much longer lifespans than normal humans, as do sorcerers. About Geralt's age though, I think it was taken from the pen & paper rpg, which is not considered canon with either the books or the computer games. Andrzej Sapkowski himself mentioned that Geralt is certainly over 50 at the third volume of the saga, but he won't say how much :p

Thanks!I figured he would have an abnormally long lifespan because witchers were genetically engineered or something similar therefore called mutants..

Not genetially engineered, but mutated. And if they survive the mutations, they are pretty much immune to diseases and they age very slowly.Play the Prologue of The Witcher, there you have a huge chunk of witcher lore. For this alone you could invest the $4,99 to buy it from GOG on May 10th. :)

For example Vesimir remember battle for Kaer Morhen that happened around 100 years ago and he was an instructor of sword fight back then so he was kinda experienced witcher. We can assume that Vesimir is at least 150 years old. Whatever is age of Geralt he is not too old for a witcher. ;)

I think Geralt is no older than 60 - 70 years. I suppose that from an interview given by Sapkowski.Google Translator

So what age does a witcher dies? In that case, we may not see the light of Witcher 3? Or perhaps CDPR is working on their new franchise, Bards Saviour of Queens? :p

In books there was phrase like that: "There was no witcher which died a natural death." ;)

Well even IF Geralt does not die and we may see him again in Witcher 3... as his current look he is kinda old.. So if that's the case we will be playing Grandpa Geralt in Witcher 3? :D

Nah. I assume that RED engine will be good for at least one more game, if not more, Geralt might look the same, since he ages very slowly. Or... the next game might even be backwards in time, there are stories worth telling 20 years in the past. The possibilities are endless, if you have good writers. Also, he is not THAT old!

Well, the devs tend to disagree with this since they stated they think Geralt is over 100 years old (which means in-game Geralt is over 100 years old).

Wow, so Geralt was really robbing the craddle when I had him sleep with Shani. Sheesh, I hope I can sleep with some 20 something when I am 80 years old =D

he ages slowly, so biologically he's still in his 30s

I would happily pay CDP double the price of the game for a chance to play a Geralt with a knee-length beard. Cohen the Barbarian, anyone?

There are so many varying opinions about his age.. which means we can't draw a conclusion. We should probably ask Andrzej Sapkowski since his information couldn't be called unvalid =)

I thought Kaer Morhen fell over a hundred years ago and Geralt was out wandering when it happened which means he was full witcher. Also isn't Vesimer older than Kaer Morhen
