wow i finally started to play TW2 yesterday and i love TW1 (besides some things which could have been better but it was the start!) but the controls and inventory system just doesnt feel right compared to TW1. the inventory is so clunky :(
so i just tried to play it with a controller (laugh! a pc game like TW with a controller.... *sigh*) and it seems it was concepted for controllerplaystyle unlike TW1?

whats your experience how to play this game the best? sad to ask this on a pc :(

I played it with KB+M and thought the controls were outstanding. The inventory is the only small issue but still FAR superior with KB+M to controller for me. Quick camera control is far too important during combat and it's almost impossible to always be moving the camera and pressing the dodge/attack buttons with your right thumb when using a controller.

It is all about rolling...Simple as that.

It works fine on K&M but it does take time to get used to, especially after TW1. The main thing being that you can't wade into a crowd of enemies any more, there's no 'group attack' until you've levelled up. You need to pick off the ones at the outside and, until you get used to the mechanics, spam Quen and (as others have said), roll a lot.

While this does not address your inventory concern. I highly recommend the Razer Naga for general pc gaming. I usually use naga in my right hand and the ten key, arrow keys, and buttons above the arrow keys for my left hand. This gives me well over 30 buttons for mapping.

For witcher I actually mapped the left key to dodge, because it was easier for my brain to make the connection between right click being block and the left clicker(which can be seen as behind the right clicker) as backing away(or dodging the enemy).

For the Razer buttons 1 through 12 I basically had all my attacks mapped to them. 1-3 were my most used signs, 4 was target, 5 was fast attack, 6 was hard attack, 1-9 were least used signi and bombs, and 10 and 11 were potions.

I kept space roll and rearranged some other keys so sprint was caps lock where my pinky conveniently sits. I got used to where the inventory, map, etc keys were. However in most games I prefer to use the ten key on the right side of the keyboard over the W,A,S,D setup and then I can conveniently tap the page down, end, and del button with my pinky for maps, inventory, etc.

LOL my posting is so boring.....

As a side note I am finding it hard to get into Witcher 1 due to the combat(tiger, wolf, and cat stances drive me crazy) and clunky dodge mechanic. I never made it through that game which is a shame since the Witcher series is now tied with Elder Scrolls as my favorite game series. Then again I barely remember Morrowwind.
