How to deflect arrows?

I have unlocked the "Deflect Arrow" talent, but when facing enemies with ranged attacks or archespores, in combat mode or not, just nothing happens. Am I missing something?

You need to parry them, i. e. press the guard button shortly before the bolt/arrow hits.
It's best to try it with Quen until you get it right.

I'm sorry, I thought you were talking about Witcher 3. I played W1, too, but it's been a long time. Ignore me...

I thought Deflect Arrow was a passive ability, which should counter projectiles automatically; however, I don't recall whether I ever actually used it. Sorry I can't be more help, either.
