How to Disable Steam Big Picture Mode?

+
I don't think it can be disable it, but you can exit it by pressings the power button at the top right, then selecting Exit Big Picture.

If your client is set to start in Big Picture mode, that much can be disabled:

I never see Big Picture unless intentionally (read: accidentally) clicking on it.

No, it starts normally. But if the computer is idle for too long then it changes to BPM.
It's not a biggie but it is extremely annoying. Why doesn't Steam give us an option to disable it completely without resorting to drastic measures?

Haven't tried it myself though, so I can't guarantee that it's working.

Thanks. I'm aware of that. Just checking to see if there's something not so drastic or maybe that the functionality had been built in in the 2 years since that post.
