Cool, I'm downloading again from the original site, if it doesn't work I'll try fileplanet. I haven't played the game in months waiting for the upgrade, it'd be awesome if I could get the silly thing to work.
Well, CD Project obviously CD-Project picked the wrong "reliable" download source. There are sites like fileplanet or 4players or ,I don't know, anything else than sciagnij.p,l that are more reliable. I just don't understand, why it is the only official download mirror. Now, after many hours of waiting using a download-manager to download the german language pack, the mirror finally is...disabled...and my download just quit at 71%. Trying to download it now causes an error message "bi.sciagnij.pl: Permission Denied".Hurray!
The first day of anything that requires an internet connection is awful. That's the main reason that MMOs have a stress-test period before release. You can test things all you like, but until you have a million people hammering your servers, you're not going to notice a lot of the problems. Unfortunately, for patches, it's a lot harder to convince people to stress-test the download server. 
Hmm, I just think that a site like fileplanet (just an example cause I can't remember the other sites) have much more capacity
Oook... after much labor and banging mercilesouly (sp?) on my desk, I finally stopped trying to download the patch from the devil's website and found, downloaded, and installed from bittorrent.com. Just wanted to let all know, the torrents are up and working. Got mine in under an hour. Thanks to the the people at cdproj for making this game, and making it available for free to the people who have the original. You wouldnt see that kind of love for the consumer from a nasty DRM demon like EA. Much thank you all for your hard work.

In one or two days I haven't got the time anymore to play it. This was kind of suppost to be my "no friends, no family not anything but the witcher weekend" Edit: I mean from CD-Project, NOT from people who downloaded it and put it on sites like rapidshare.
As I said earlier, you're wasting most of that. If you only had some kind of queue or even just limited the maximum number of connections so that the people who were on the server were getting it and getting it fast, and completed their downloads, they would finish, others would get on and the numbers would tick over. As it is, most of your bandwidth is being wasted with the same people downloading it over and over, and never completing it. Considering how long you had to plan for this, it's baffling that no one saw this coming and implemented such a simple thing. I imagine it's too late now though, but perhaps a thought for the future? FileShack, for example, are letting people download this at very high speeds, and with just a short 15 minute wait.Speaking of which, I'd urge anyone who wants the English version(s) and can't get it to go to FileShack, where they have the update, the english language pack and both of the mission packs. They don't seem to have any other language packs as of yet though, nor the additional content, but I assume no one is trying to download the bits and pieces. It would be selfish to clog up the servers downloading the music when others are trying to get the game downloaded, right?Eriash said:

I didnt copy down the URL, but you can find it how I did, just google witcher patch 1.4 torrents, youll find one that works. Note im using the actual bittorrent program, not one of the copys.... not sure if that makes a diff.CaptainShiny said:
