How to Highlight Interactible Items/Objects?

Hi friends,

As you know, in witcher 1, you can highlight interactible objects and items by pressing CTRL (or ALT? can't remember) but it seems there is no such features in Witcher 2.

Or is there any?

Because, you know, running every kind of table, chest, corpse, fallen enemy and even flower or tree to collect something or check if there is any stuff to be looted or not is very very very very very very tiring and frustrating!

Use your witcher's medallion (default key: Z). It will make anything you can interact with glow for about 10-15 seconds.

Hmm... Yes, better than nothing, right? Still, given its cooldown time, i would prefer the old system.

I appreciate their attempt to integrate use of the medallion into the game. It's important that it work the way it does for Places of Power, clutter (things you can knock over while sneaking, alerting the guards), and traps. But yeah, it's an annoyance for things you just want to harvest or loot.

What's wrong with the cooldown? Once activated every usable object remains highlighted until it wears off/cools down, and by then you can use it again.

I wish the cooldown time was half as long. I don't see that as being game breaking, only more convenient for the player.

Me too. It's a trivial point, but mildly annoying.

Actually the cool down is pretty terrible, because the range is not that great. If you are running, and want to keep an eye out for items, you have to either stop really often and wait for it to recharge or you only cover about 1/3 of the are you run through.

example - fighting the arachas in chapter one. Before i had a chance to loot it, cut scene started. I opted not to follow iorveth immediately. But when the cut scene finished, i was not in the same spot as i had killed the arachas. So I had to run around looking for the drop.
- If there was a way to make everything glow, like in withcer 1, i could just hold down the key and run around the entire area until i found the drop.
- In witcher two, i have to use the medanllian, look around. Then walk a little bit, wait for it to recharge, then use it again. It was annoying, tedious, slow, and i ended up giving up before i found the drop.

I thought I had seen a mod for it, but it was before the data file structure changes on 1.3. Can't seem to find it now.

The cooldown is a bit long, but after a while you will instantly recognize lootable objects.

I am sort of glad it is impssible in the Witcher 2... I know it is silly, but I was overusing the alt key in the first witcher. I was just unable to stop myself ;) Just like in Batman AA I could not force myself to deactivate the detective mode for long.
Not to mention, how many times I alt-tabed myself out of the game, when trying to hide my sword :D
So I am kind of happy that Witcher 2 will not let me break my immersion, lol
