Lord of the Rings is like a fairy tale comparing to witcher Saga. The forest won't be as friendly as in Hobbit ;-)

Mirkwood is no Disney fariytale, even in The Hobbit. Tolkien is pretty good with dark forests, but I readily concede that the films are a different matter. They went more for effects than atmosphere. Still, really dark parts of the forest in TW2 would be cool. It looks like the cave area where Iorweth find the Kingslayer might be rather like that.

The forest atmospheres of the Hobbit and the lord of the rings BOOK are a great example here. Movies, a no no. As much as I loved the movies, they didn't capture the feel of that dark forest with trolls in them, like you don't know WHAT you'll stumble across. And for a hobbit, running into a troll (much less the group) was one of the most exhilarating things, period. Now, for Geralt, a bad arse, I don't know how you'd port the same feel over, but at least those forests themselves are a great example.

Ah, he meant the book. Should’ve included the “The”. I still don’t see how one can describe the forests in Tolkien’s world as friendly but alright ...

Tiring. Do I have to explain a sentence with a wink emoticon? No, it shouldn't be taken serious.

I just don’t understand what you meant with that comment. Did I make a grammar mistake?

You know, the movies didn't give the same sense with forests in the books. "As friendly" is alright btw.

I know, I have read them all. In German as well as in English, except for The Hobbit.

Californian redwood forests look really good, ancient, like they've been there for a very long time.

Wiki says the oldest giant seqouia is 3,500 years old, so yeah, they *are* ancient :D

We are monster hunters , no? The in-game forest should be dark, dank and scary. It should give a sense of claustrophobia. Trees should be close to each other, with a lot of undergrowth. Very little light on the forest floor. Trees need not be ancient. They need to be gnarled and wild looking.Maybe even a mangrove swamp forest would be cool. With low hanging fog and stuff. The redwoods make for a picturesque forest, but it's hardly the experience you're looking for if you are trailing a monster.

Geralt is a witcher with a conscience and hunts only dangerous monsters. I doubt he'll ever hunt Big Foot.

INCLUDE TRAPS .......... simple and fun. Example:Geralt is walking around looking for a drowner to have fun with by killing him in 1 hit. But, if not careful, he activates a trap by stepping on a rope and a rock falls on his head, or...... he falls in a hole /full of poisonous snakes/.
