How will cards be balanced?

Because Gwent doesn't have a resource system, in the Witcher 3 there was no reason to use a low power card over a high power card and the only difference between them was their rarity. I am curious how the cards in Gwent will be balanced with one another and what will stop a player from being able to win simply by using more heroes or rarer cards than their opponent

the fact that matchmaking will take deck strength into consideration. if both of your decks are overpowered, neither are.

Well as said by lord_blex deck power is going to be used in the matchmaking so you wont end up against people far stronger or far weaker.

Beyond that decks are limited in the number of hero and character cards they can have. For instance you can only have 4 heroes in a deck so there won't be decks of heroes stomping everything else into the dirt.

The hero limitation is by far one of the best balance changes in my opinion. Started using this rule with a few friends when using the physical decks to play to try it out, and it usually leads to very close games with the current cards. The spy change will also seem to help a lot so we don't see decks abusing the spy meta.
