"I can see clearly now" Is a bad quest

A quest requiring you to spend an attribute point where you dont want to spend it is just bad design. Why arent there multiple ways to move this thing, with the most obvious being to use a car to push it?

this quest needs to be changed.

I still haven't done all teh fight quests because I've never done a body attribute build. Feels like we're supposed to be more balanced than specialised if we want a true 100%.

You can beat the fights by using gorilla arms.

I can see clearly is the only quest I've found so far that you can't finish purely due to attributes.

There are some missions that you can't start if you can't hack the doors. Saving the that cops life from the corrupt police comes to mind. Can't do it, till u can tech hack the door. I think that bar that if you argue with the bouncer will close the door. And the side entrance needs the jumping legs. Cause the ladder cant be grabbed. I got lucky with that one. A AI walked out the door. So I just walked in.

There's a side mission that involves a cop who's trying to be like River. But she stepped into shit. The whole NCPD wanted her dead. So V was asked to kill her or convince her to leave NC. Her door is tech locked. I had to reach level 7 to finish that mission. Wasted time and points where I didn't want to use them.

you know you could have entered her apartment through the balcony right? All you had to do was jump, no hacking or tech necessary.

Yeah, I found the balcony entrance on the way OUT, lol.

And you really want a bod of at least 6 to have full use of all weapons. Handy with the Burya(sp?) pistol, that thing hits like a freight train, and no charging.

Unless you're not doing a build that revolves around heavy hitting power weapons.

Having stats affect the missions that way is actually a pleasant surprise. One of the very few in this game.

There’re not many things lamer in RPG mission design than the ideal that ”anyone can do everything”.

Ask me, there should be more of that.

The problem isn't the stat requirement, it's the absolute lack of all other options.

Why can I just drive large truck and push the bin out of the way? I need 4 strength, but this freight truck I stole isn't quite sufficient?

Its silly.

It probably should’ve been put somewhere inside a megabuilding or somewhere else where tou can’t go with a car. But still, that’s not the sort of mission I’d lose sleep over for not having 7 different ways of going about it.

I don't think it's unreasonable to have things that you just can't do if you don't have the stats. On the other hand, this particular quest should leave things open for other ways to move the skip

Stats affecting the mission is great, like doors you need to force or engineer open to take different paths. Missions that you simply can't complete if you decided not to build points into a certain stat is absolute terrible design.

I disagree. With the exception of main story missions.

I think it makes the game much more interesting if you have to commit to your characterbuild and accept that he’s not an ”an everything man”, and while the game allows for options, it is not as servile to the player whim, that it dares not say ”No” to him where saying that is feasible for the character at hand.

Not everyone needs to be able to do everything.

It’s not different from not being able to open a locked door with sweet loot on the other side because your character isn’t built for opening doors.

Entering buildings rooms for gigs and missions can always be done in some way.
But if you have 20 tec and 20 bod you can take easier and shorter routes by opening doors/garage/shutters and what not.
Post automatically merged: Jan 21, 2021

Even the All Foods you noticed that with 20 body you be able to open the door you came in through which is much shorter then moving forward so to say.

Exactly. It's not so much the skill point you must consider investing. It's the obvious "Even in our non-augmented reality with little to no cybernetics there would be different options to move a damn container on your own besides going to the gym until you can push a metric ton by hand".
From a GM's perspective it's poor gaming, if there would be a creative solution for a problem, but you don't let your gamers use it because...
We should be able to push it from one or pull it from the other side using a truck,
move it with one of the movables cranes that are standing on every second yard,
hacking a terminal and make the construction company that put it there pick it up,
getting some animal / Valentino / 6th Street / Maelstrom huscles drunk and bet they can't move the container,
rent a physical labour exoskeleton,...
