I have gone through 3 play through's just to get 90% of the trophies but because i am not a developer i did not know before act 2 you must go to 1 message board in 1 section at a specific time to unlock 1 quest to get 1 gwent card fucking really? really?.

The devs must put in a place were we can buy these top secret cia only cards. I have every gwent card in the game except the one you get on the mission following the thread i am so pissed right now i could chock a horse with my bare hands.


3 play throughs 2 with a guide to get all the cryptic trophies and glitched ones like the horse races just to need a 4th for collecting fn cards.


Fix this crap before you send people into the mental institution.

I don't get the obsession with trophies.

But still if the gwent quest cannot be completed anymore the game should properly inform you right away. Then if need be you can reload without losing much progress. Right now sadly that doesn't happen.

i dont get it ... im still on my first playthrough and still in Act1 and i got my fist-fighting achievement, got all gwent cards (incl. achievements) etc ... (did like 5 mins research on "missable gwent cards" after i heard there are some of those and it only concerns 3 different quests, all of which you cant really miss, unless you dont do sub-quests or dont talk to people)

yes it could have been better (speak: no missable cards or a trader to re-sell them) but its not THAT huge of a deal imo ...
even if i hadnt done any research i wouldnt have missed a single card xD

and what other achievements in this game are so "cryptic"? ... they are all very easy to understand and non of them is some stupid shit like "kill 5.000 humans" (for which you normally need 3 playthroughs to even get the count xD)

I have the same problem as well, missing the Nekker card but I've read somewhere that the Nekker card counts as a duplicate where you only need one of the three to get the achievement? I can't confirm this since I am still missing cards from the Claywich merchants.

You don't need a 4th playthrough. You just need to wait until they finally fix the Zoltan card bug. It's supposed to be under the Hanged Man's Tree, but it isn't. It's the only card I'm missing as well.

Honestly, I like the idea of missable cards even though CDPR seems intent on "fixing" that. Achievements are SUPPOSED to be difficult, and what fun is it if everyone has the exact same cards?

Full disclosure: I just got the achievement today after I saved the Claywich merchant. But if I hadn't been able to, I'd be fine with it as long as it wasn't actual bugs/glitches that weren't somehow preventing me.

The Claywich merchant doesn't sell any Monster cards, so you won't find a Nekker. You'll find like 4 unique (Nilfgaard, I think), and the 5th card is a Dragon Hunter which is a damn good card if you have all 3 (5 strength with tight bond means 15 strength each, 45 total if you play all three; with a Commander's Horn that's 30 strength each - 90 total for just 3 cards!)

I like the challenge of trophies. Rather than berating people for what they think is fun you could offer something helpful.

Missable trophies are fine in a 20 or even 30 hour game; not in a 100 hour game. Maybe even then if it's something straightforward like killing rather than saving a monster/character, but in a game with all these glitches....collecting all these cards. They should really fix this, or at least make the missable ones purchasable elsewhere.

I am sorry but you a very bad troll you cannot get the gwent collection trophy not even the fist fight one with only velen/novigrad/white orchard unlocked. You half to do alot of missions before you can play with your friends and fight against the level 26 rock troll.

Not unless you are on story only HA HA HA HA still would not be available do to your current stance in the game.






To everyone else thank you for the positive feed back i forgot to mention yeah its the 4 point necker card i missed you get from the guys corpse at the end of this mission. You get follow the thread in novigrad square before you start act 2.

Some people enjoy collecting achievements, it is rewarding for them and adds something more to do after finishing the game. If you don't enjoy doing it then that's fine no one is forcing you to. There's no need to diss people who likes to collect them and it adds nothing to the discussion.

Considering how time-intensive this game is, it is bad style when things like that can become missable.
There were some measures taken to avoid such things, but only in a patch. (Buyable cards added to merchant in White Orchard because the innkeeper dies.)
Such should be general design policy.

(One of the stupidest achievements in this regards was the troll-slaying-or-not-slaying in W2.)

I totally intend to get all Gwent cards, but hey, the main story quests really have priority. Gwent is a nice thing to do after all that is done. But if, for example, skipping on an optional Gwent quest right in the middle of a main story quest because I really wasn't in the mood there means the card-collecting achievement becomes unattainable, that would suck a lot, because it amounts to a lot of effort invested for nothing. After all, you still have to win many games to get all cards, so that in itself is sufficiently an achievement.

not trolling mate... i have skellige unlocked as well (just re-checked ... all quests i've done so far (incl the ones on skellige) are still part of Act 1)
i got the trophy after the main mission where ...(spoilers ahead)

...you run around with yennefer helping the druid on skellige (as he is the last main-quest related guy you need for the trophy)

its really not that hard to get that trophy in my opinion, you just need to keep gwent in mind all the time and talk to everyone (esp. talking to people AFTER a conversation after finishing a quest for/with them.

e.g. Taler, you can get his card right away after doing his quest, if you dont talk to him again after the quest-conversation ends, you have to find him later somewhere in novigrad)

Really? You have done 3 playthroughs of which 2 with a guide, and you still think it's them? Hate to break it to you, but if you can't do it in 2 guided playthroughs, you will never be able to get it.

If it were basically impossible to fail, then it's not really an achievement is it?

I like finding all the little hidden things tucked away in side quests and discoverable locations.
When given the choice to "skip ahead farther into the story" and "do additional content", I always do the content.
Eagle eye everything when you show up and just before you leave, check every corner, make SURE you've done what you can.
It's pretty difficult to miss content if you do it this way. With very few exceptions, the game never puts you on a timer and you don't have a deadline to complete anything in X amount of time. If you miss something it's because you chose to skip it.

I did pretty much everything that could be done on my first playthrough and clocked in under 120 hours.

As an aside, Gwent is a fun little diversion, but it's not really related to the main game in any major way.
The only content it really enables is the ability to actually win the tournament, as that has slightly different cut scenes and outcomes.
Either way, the tournament is not hard, and Gwent is not hard.

If you missed cards, basically the only way to do that is to skip content.

So I can't really understand the arguement that you should be able to be a completionist AND be able to skip content at the same time.
That's basically a big "Fuck You" to everyone that took their time and did what they needed to in order to clear content legitimately.
