I have restart-itis

Started 1st run on Blood & Bones to learn game (never played Witcher series before). Finished White Orchard and played few hours of Velen before deciding i wanted Deathmarch achievement and might as well restart now.

so played about 50+ hours on my DM playthrough, got to level 14 and explored ton of velen and lot of novigrad - then decided, man - if i only knew what i know now when i first started DM play, would have gone easier (e.g. How to dodge, dont overlevel on story quests, do side quests lowest level quests first, etc)

so restarted DM again, played ton more hours, got back to unveiling most of Velen and Novigrad, and then ...argh! - discovered that you can go to skellige (and should) go there a lot earlier so you can do the low level quests there when its actually worth doing.

so i restarted....again.

wish i had known that after velen, its not mandatory you go to novigrad, and that in a way, its white orchard --> velen --> novigrad OR skellige
basically a fork in the road - skellige or novigrad, not complete novigrad and then goto skellige.

so now i'm a lowbie all over again in white orchard, and planning this time to get to velen, then unlock novigrad and skellige soon as possible, and then just go back and forth to do all the lowest level side quests in order of level.

oh, and not bother spending so much time making sure i stole every single thing out of every single peasant house/village - theres so much loot that i now know you get, i'm saving time on this restart play by just looting only from places i explore and ignore the peasant houses (unless i find another reason to restart......

They have medicine for this.

You will never play this game perfectly optimal. Never. Learn to accept it.

I too suffer from this very annoying disease, I'm a 108 hrs into my first playthrough and have 3 failed quests. Every time I see them I just want to say screw it and start over. Seriously thinking of starting a fresh run unsullied by failure this weekend.

I forgot to mention that my first DM play and restarted was also because I had a failed mission too. The one where you have to save some scavengers while waves of ghouls come at you. Based on that experience, my restarts after that included full manual saves at every decision / quest point - so that if I had a failure I could be kind, rewind, and try again.

I`m on my 2nd playthrough on DM also, just reached Novigrad. Have to say DM feels more like a normal difficulty setting and the combat feels a lot more enjoyable on DM.

Personally I think restarting is wrong, you cannot have perfect game the first time you play and by restarting it you're just destroying your entire experience. If I make some mistakes in the first play then I live with them regardless of how bad my game is going and next time I try to improve them but in another play through not by restarting..

I understand that feeling.
However, as @tahirahmed, I went with my first playthrough without restarting/reloading and this way I really felt the grave consequences of my choices...
Baron was the worst. Not going into the details, I've made a huge mistake. You probably know what I am talking about. Had to live with it till the end of the game.

What you are doing is the antithesis of role playing and a sure way to totally disrupt your enjoyment of the game in the end.

Sadly it is much probable that now it is too late since I doubt you would want to continue your old saves and for your new ones you already know in anticipation what it will happen after and so your choices will be completely constructed and devoid of suspense.

Can you load a previous save in life when you pick a bad choice? Yes, games are different from life but still roleplaying is taking a role of a character, and abiding to the characteristics of that character, and clairvoyance is NOT an ability Geralt has.

Metagaming is the best way to remove all your enjoyment from these type of games. Follow my advice: fight that instinctual urge you have to restart when things don't go as you want to, because if you do give to it in the end instead of enjoying the game more you will much probably stop playing mid game, I tell you, since everything will sound artificial.
