I hope TW3 will be better than 2

Does TW2 seem a bit rushed towards the end for anyone else ?
I finished the game recently. I quite liked it, but It was pretty short, and basically I had the same opinion with OP of this thread:
http://www.gamespot.com/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt/forums/i-hope-the-witcher-3-is-better-than-2-31050999
So far, I'm quite worried seeing the villains in TW3 and the batman action combat or the alchemy system, also I hope the story wont be something too cheesy

Witcher 2 seemed rushed towards the end mainly because, well... it kinda was. There was supposed to be one more act set in the Valley of Flowers, but due to budget problems CDPR had to drop it. You can read all about the struggles CDPR had in the past in this article.
This time around CD Projekt RED is financially stable, so these kind of cuts hopefully won't be necessary for Witcher 3.

As for the villains you're talking about (I'm guessing you mean The Wild Hunt), believe me, there's more to them than meets the eye. And if you thoroughly played the previous games, you might have picked up on that a bit.

As for combat and alchemy, what exactly are your concerns when it comes to those systems? Maybe we can clear some of your doubts. :)

Read that ShimmerMan's posts in the Gamespot thread. Ugh, why do I keep doing these things to myself?

I'm sorry but the devs have repeatedly stated that they're aiming for a much worse experience in the third game, I hope this isn't too disappointing.

The game has already been delayed... I take that as a good sign. Instead of rushing things this time hopefully they take the time and finish the game. I don't think they are struggling financially with TW3 like they were with TW2.

In my opinion the witcher 2 was an incredible game one that made me think about my decisions, i had so many hard moments where i couldn't know what will be the right one. The finale part was too short but after reading the Gamespot thread i understand it. mind please that even after cdpr scraped an entire zone there are no plot holes in the game, and this say something about their writing skills. i must admit that after reading the article i was hoping that CDPR will release the scrapped area as a DLC. I don't think it will ever happen because thy are focusing on the witcher 3.

I am certain that the witcher 3 will be better then it's predecessors.

The Witcher 2 was a great game but it was strange, it had a number of problems personally i dont think this is because the game is bad or the devs are bad, they obviously had some struggles and limitations which held it back in certain areas. TW3 however has many huge differences, for example Open world, this allows the game to be original in most playthroughs and because of this and many other decisions they have made this time around, i have no doubt that TW3 isnt going to be amazing. Like NEXT level amazing...... I may like most on this forum be biased though :p

I thought Witcher 2 was great. Despite minor shortcomings, it is one of the best RPGs out there.

If Witcher 3 delivers (I personally think it will), it will no doubt be on another level.

TW2 was the best narrative-driven RPG I ever played. But, given that perfection has no upper bound, I have hopes that TW3 will be even better. Let's drink to that!

Worried about villains and story? You're either in the wrong forum or never played The Witcher.

TW 3 will be better that Witcher 1 by 2 and better than Witcher 2 by 1. Easy calculations.

I agree with you about last act in W2, it was quite short and little bit linear. But it was still awesome story. Just like other parts in W2 and W1. You don't have to worry about that. If you haven't read books I can't find any reason why you would be disappointed by story. There is not better game with better story IMO.

Whenever I hear "I finished Witcher 2 and it was only __ hours" I can tell they haven't played both quest lines, so they've only played half a game.

Also, CDPR released a substantial and fun DLC that expanded act three... and gave it away to those who already owned the game. What developer does that?

As for Witcher 3, it's supposed to be a huge world with a lot of optional content, so it should address your feeling (however misguided :) ) that Witcher 2 was limited.

I don't know why so many people call Witcher 2 "a short game". I mean, it's an action RPG and so its gameplay is by nature fast-paced. Strip classic turn-based RPGs of their tactical and slow turn-based combat and they aren't really bigger than Witcher 2 anymore. Strip Skyrim of its endless walking/riding times and its also not really longer than Witcher 2 anymore (at least concerning main quests and main side quests). Witcher 2 was a game built on strong narrative and not on slow tactical combat (CRPGs) or constant repetition or idle time (TES).

But yes, the third act was a bit short compared to the other acts but you could easily explain that: CDPR went out of money and they had to ship the game. Nevertheless they managed to give the game a proper ending to their storyline, an achievement in which most other companies have failed in the past few years. So while the third act was short compared to the other acts it was imo nevertheless satisfactory.

Witcher 3 will hopefully feature the same narrative strength. But while you ask for more game time I fear that some of it will consist of pointless running around and typcial idle time coming with open world titles...

I understand why some people think its short - because they don't realise the twin chapter 2's as theres no big neon signpost type thing to direct them to their next quest - although it seems to have been obvious to many of us, and since you really can get different experiences throughout different playthroughs, even if I had stopped playing TW2 after 2 completes i'd still be satisfied that there was more than enough game.

The depth of TW2's narrative still impresses me, and i've clocked up a dozen full plays... i'm a little sad TW3 won't have a similar distinct branch, though I understand why not, and personally I still have faith the RED's will maintain that narrative quality and keep "pointless running around" to a minimum or player choice (we have to recognise some people like that kinda thing).

Even without the taking the dual path into consideration, I don't find TW2 all that short. In fact, I find other games way too long. For me, most games wear out their welcome before I get to the end. While TW2 is a great game, would I have stuck all the way to the end if it was 100 hours long? 150 hours long? I can't honestly say. All I know is that I was hooked for however many hours it took me to go from beginning to end of TW2. And that's how I like it!

Ooh I had no idea about this... it makes me kinda sad. I would have loved to have seen the valley of flowers in the game.

I don't understand how we can have watched the same game footage... it looks pretty damn great to me. And if there's one thing Witcher games don't have, it's cheesy storylines.

Actually TW1 was full of cheese. You could find it in boxes, cupboards, pantries, barrels and even taverns.
