I just spent $850 to play this game, I hope it's worth!

That $850 included the tv. I'm not sure that you could buy a cool PC setup for only $410.
But whatever, I always wanted to try out a console, and this seemed the right time. :)

But you are gonna need a PC anyway. It is not like once you have a console you wouldn't need to spend on PC for a dime. That's being said, I have all available platforms in my living room. Since my job is being a statistician, I also have a gaming PC for which my excuses is I need parallel computing power of a graphic card to do statistical analysis :)

k or non-k doesn't really matter. i5 2400 is quite good since most games won't use hyper-threading anyway. And since i5 2400 uses 1155, your mobo would be also compatible to Ivy Bridge CPUs.

yeah at least ill be able to uprade without buying a new mobo and stuff, i think ill keep the cpu and just test how it runs next gen games with a decent gpu, was thinking the 270x or 280x, ill never buy the most expensive one as i allways think its a waste as i game at 1360x768, max for my tv, you think my i5 2400 would be a bottleneck ? as arnt they recomending i7 because the new consoles have like 8 cores i think ?

I do a lot of "GIS processing" and DTP stuff... Not untrue, but I'd be able to get away with much less PC if I were only doing that ;)

I cannot speak of future games but 2400 should be fine for all current games. CPU rarely becomes the bottleneck. i7 is still 4-core with 4 hyper-threading pseudo-cores. I don't think I can justify to pay the extra money for it. You can check the task manager to see how many percentage of CPU power the game sucks. I have a i5 3570 and when playing Dragon Age: Inquisition, only 40% is used. The game runs at 60fps under high-ultra settings. As for the recommended hardware for Witcher 3, I think the list is not 100% scientific. They probably just listed what they have been tested on. Like they recommended to have a -k CPU which doesn't make any sense to me at all. k only means the CPU is unlocked so that you could manually overclock it, otherwise the same as the non-k version. Since Sandy Bridge, Intel CPUs are able to overclock themselves by default, so not so much of a difference, especially for gaming.

According to devs interview from January a 4 core cpu in minimum is needed on pc. HT was not discussed so I guess that means an i5 or AMD equivalent. Consoles use 6 CPU cores for games but they have different API:s, different memory handling and can't realy be compared as such.

I was initially going to spend $600 on a new computer build, but instead went for the Xbox One too and also got me a new Monitor. Had to do it for Halo MCC and my online buddies.

i didn't but 2 of my friends more or less upgraded or bought a new rig with Witcher 3 in mind. Hope computer stores are happy for this:cheers:

Yea and a game coming 2 years later wouldn't even start.
Haha, no I've had enough of PCs.

Really? My last pc build with a gtx 570 an an old i7 920 took me till this year. From 6 years ago. Except I replaced my gtx 2xx 3 years in so yeah most builds last awhile and you only have to replace 1 part every 3-4 years.

Grats mate, even on console the game looks gorgeous, I'm sure you will like it!

TW3 made me spend a bit as well. From a 560Ti to a 970 (Was about time you will say, yeah :p). Still don't know what to do with the extra code I got with the card, heh.

I had the choice between a $500 Xbox One or a $5000 Gaming PC, when I was deciding what to play Ori and the Blind Forest on. Given Witcher 3 was coming out as well, I went with the $5000 gaming PC. Best decision ever! I have access to all these PC games now, and they all run at amazing quality :D

Wow you guys must be really rich. My PC upgrade for TW3 was just around $2000, that included 970 and free TW3. And i thought this was already overkill.

Well i bought a GTX 770 because of the witcher 3 about 400$ at the time, i got core i7 930 a bit old but i hope to get the game to run at mid high at least. Also going to format my pc and clean the dust only then install the witcher 3 on my SSD drive a fresh pc only for this game, for some reason a format & dust cleaing + installing all the lastest drivers, makes any game run much better, best way to squeez more power from an aging workhorse pc.

I spent 0$ on it yet. I am going to buy the game on release and play it on my toaster on minimum settings. Weather i like the game, i am willing to spend 2000$ of my hard earned money to upgrade my hardware. I believe it's healthier approach.

Ended up spending around 2200 on a new pc. Went sli 970 which might have been overkill since im still at 1080p.

It is a healthier approach. Smart call.

Not that I was as smart as you, sigh.
