You know, too lazy to find where I posted what I liked. So here goes the modification:The Witcher original game... I say... really bites the dust in front of the Enhanced Edition. There are so many enhancements to it, that there is really no competition when it comes to it.Man, I should have written this a long, looong time ago. :peace:

I just picked this game up this weekend, and I'm impressed. The game has what I've been asking for in a video game for years- immersion, impact on plot by my choices, complex story. I really hope these guys put out more stuff in the US in the near future.

It's so good I don't want it to end. I'm almost at the end of Ch. V, playing 1.4 on normal. I'll only play through it this once because I don't really believe in seeing alternate endings in games - for me, my choices were my choices and what happened in the game was what happened. It would spoil my enjoyment of the fantasy by going back and having it all happen differently; I've got my own idea of who Geralt is now from the decisions he's made in the game and I don't want to undermine that. But what a game - the first once since Mafia that has actually made me care about the characters. If I have a quibble it is that the setting is sometimes a bit inconsistent - I didn't find the whole fisstech sub-plot very convincing, it felt like an attempt to inject a bit of GTA into a medieval world and it didn't work for me at all. Also, some of the language is uneven; half the time the characters talk in mock-archaic diction, and half the time they are effing and blinding in a very modern way. That said, it was the first time I've been told to fuck off in a computer game by a dwarf, and hearing NPCs strolling about saying things like 'my balls itch' or seeing them unashamedly take a piss up against a wall was very entertaining indeed. And in any case these are minor complaints - overall the world is brilliantly realised, wonderful to look at and great to explore in. I even went and read one of the novels ('The Witcher') after getting into playing the game, and recently went and bought another ('Blood of Elves'), and can recommend them as superior fantasy. The developers had some very strong material to work with, that's for sure. I'd love a sequel to this game, or a prequel even, so long as it maintains the high standards. But can Geralt please use ranged weapons in the next one? It's not fair when people can fire crossbows at the poor guy and he can't do likewise. Although hey, by Ch. V a couple of good bursts from my Igni sign and most of these annoyances are quickly taken care of. Hurrah for one of the best PC games ever made!

whoa, more than 70 pages?it got both i love it and i hate it from me.love it....roleplay and adventures, battles, get drunk is entertaining make the combat challening.hate it....gosh, it is horrible!took me 4 solid days to get 5,000 orens, and need more orens for the rest of the books.it is poorly adjustments with money exchange, and poker games take awhile to what amount you need, i cant afford overpriced books.i had lot of crashes, freezes during hellhound's demon dogs, and just got on chapter 3rd, and it got massive crash and it erased all my saved files.so it made me having no motivation to replay and rebuilt massive amount of orens i need for books and that armor and weapon upgrades for another 4-5 days? forget it!that is dumb timesink and not fun to play from start repeated.it would made this game more fun if there is better and improved cash flow.chapter 3's crash is main issue, just right after i exit from Trissa's, i saw overdone amount of city guard patrols, needless amount of npc before crashed, and i thought, okay, it set me back to swamp to where i saved last time and additional auto saved at Triss, but all the saves got wiped by the crash, and i felt it is too much and got me a game burnout mood, i feeel like it not worth replaying The Witcher.i tried to get updated patch, it is too confusing for novice to get website patches, Neverwinter Nights was far lot easier with auto update patches than this complex What The Heck 4 steps patch page, and i still at 1.45 instead of getting 1.5 version. this patch seem so backward.so i may not able to finish this game, it was enjoyable at first, but replaying from redo beginnings just kick me too hard from the save file wipes.also, it need better flow of orens or lower the prices of books to keep the game flow better, instead of spending days farming the drowners or balghast hounds for parts really hurt the game immersive environment.farming for the parts is not part of the story when trying to learn from books!if you guys keep this type of grind for expansion, i might not look forward to that brain-dead grindfest unless if improved cash flow. i am only here looking for fun and time worth playing for enjoyments, not grindfest or farmings.i still lost on trying to mod so i hope i would get massive amount orens because these books are overpriced when they should be costing around 50-200, but not those 500-800 orens each? killing 800 drowners 15 times is boring!

There are ways to gain necessary info on monsters and herbs for free. They are not obvious and you need a little patience to discover the source ;) NPCs (blue marked) tell you about these things in exchange of food. Sometimes you find books in containers. You earn money with simple sidequests which you find on noticeboards.Maybe you should look in our ingame tech forum for help. Tell when you have crashes and don't forget to mention your pc specs.Patch 1.4 has four steps to download because it has lots of content. You don't need all (e.g. extra aventures) to update your game version.

You can also complete the game without buying anything (except for the odd exception, like a lightning rod).Just saying. The choice to cash grind is exactly that: a choice.

Making money in the game has been discussed here, you may find several spoilers there how and where you find above mentioned NPCs.

You know what, I really love the witcher. But something I do not like in the witcher is that we always encounter the same NPC ever and ever... they all have the sames faces ;)I hope they will fix this one day... and at least I hope this will be fixed for the witcher 2 ;)Oh another thing I would like to be fixed ;) The dialogs do not behave correctly according to the situation. For instance, we make love with a girl, and later on when we talk to her again, she talked as she do not know us. Or, I do a sidequest before another one, and the dialog does not fit well, gerald says something he shouldn't according to the other quest he already made ;)

devs, sorry guys, i got fed up with chapter 3 crashes that wipe all the saves, and i decided to uninstall The Witcher, and not planning to look for expansion if they do.i dont like redoing same stuffs, it make me nearly braindead and burn-out with save file wipes.here my feedbacks to devs.chapter 3 need to be trim down.1. reduce needless extra city patrols2. reduce extra non-quest giver npcs3. cut down fires and torches or other partical effects4. reduce harvestable plants but give more yields on seeds, herbs, or flowers.5. cut out few empty houses that has nothing in it or not part of storyline/quests, make those needless doors unclickable, could add those "boarded up" on doors for no access. side doors are bit excessive.6. break up Trademarket section in 2 city zones, merchant houses and estate housing zone, to avoid "Memory Leaks and unwanted crashes".i felt this chapter 3 isnt completely tested for memory drive and i have 4 gig of memory ram, so what are you running with? 8 gig? or 1 tera ram?most folks i met still got 2 gig and some cant afford 4gig or 8 gig system, that take awhile when they get more affordable to be able to play The Witcher.my suggestion to most devs, dont try to exceed most system's requirements when the folks isnt ready for serious computer upgrades in advance.i doubt it will be read by devs.please make the patch updater easy auto-patch, i tried and fail each time with that update steps, that reason why i couldnt get fix for chapter 3's save wipe bug.i dont understand this is same team who did Neverwinter Nights/SotU/HotU and had right kind of auto-updater.

I'm sorry you have trouble with crashes and such. I, myself, can understand how frusterating constant crashes can be. I just wanted to point out that my own system is not top quality. It is more than a few years old with upgrades. It plays the witcher fine (in high settings with the texture mod)My specs are
  • AMD Ath. 64 Processor:3200
  • Windows XP
  • 2.24 gig processer
  • 2 gigs of Ram
  • ATI x1350 Video Card
So as you can see, I don't have a really great computer.

My husband. Windows Vista 64 bit. AMD Phenom 9150E Quad-core, 1.8 GHz, 7 gb ram. The only thing that he needs is a new vid card. But, it doesn't count because we bought the computer last year ;D We're going to get a new on for me with our income tax. I do agree that times are hard. It is one of the reasons I'm going to school so money will be alittle easier to come by.

Wylonus, I'm sorry to hear the crashes spoiled the game for you. Why didn't you try to find help in our in-game tech forum?

I think Dell supported 8GB TurboRAM on a desktop... laptops too, but not TurboRAM just DDR2. How's that for a suggestion? :peace:

It is outstanding, I love the game. I havent played a video game in 3 years, and just picked up the Witcher. My only complaint is there should be a warning "this game is more addictive than crack". Picked up the game last week and think I have averaged about 5 hours of sleep at night since due to this game!

This kind of addiction has no adverse health effects, hence there is no warning ;Dwelcome in our Witcher world

I think it's time I add something I hate to previous posts. This is hard, can't seem to find a fault. But, here's one: The Witcher editions involved voice changes and I prefer the old version to the EE or updated versions.Well, that's it for me. No use to search for other faults or I too might have sleepless nights over it. Still LOVE the game... :peace:

This is my first post on the forums, I have browsed them occassionally ever since I got the game. I am just posting that I am very impressed by The Witcher. How I found out about The Witcher, I did not hear anything about the game, and one day I was bored and looking for a new game to play searching the racks at Walmart. There I found it The Witcher, I was unsure what to think I loved classic ISO RPGS like Fallout, Fallout 2, and Vampire the Masqurade Redemption. They are all pretty good games the thing that appealed to me was the Gothic style RPG, I love a good dark rpg. At first I thought it was going to be another low budget game that would be a waste of money and time. So I went home to do some looking into it and if it looked good I was going to get it the next day. As I was home I saw it was a must have game at that time there were very little reviews and info on the game, but from what I could find I knew I must have it. So I ran back out and Walmart was closed luckly the Target acrossed the street was still open for five mins. I picked it up and began to play, I loved it but I got really sick of the long load times and all the bugs, so I quit. Couple months down the line I was looking at the main site and saw the new enhanced edition of the game was out. At first I was pissed thinking I would have to go out and buy it (like most game companys would make you do). Then I found out that it was free once you register your copy of the Witcher. I was very impressed with the company, most game company's would be like alright we already got their money, so fuck it they can give us more money so they can play our non broken version of the game. So the Company has a huge fan here, they really know how to take care of their consumers and know when they made a mistake. Once I got the Enhanced edition I played it straight through doing all the sub quest and side adventures it took me about two weeks and was some of the best gamming expeirence I have every had.I know there is not too much here to reply to, so either just browse or you could post how you found out about The Witcher, your experience playing and so on. Enjoy!

I recently started playing the game. I think it awesome as well. As many people have said it is quite engrossing. Combat seemed goofy at first because I started on hard. Didn't take long to figure it out and I like it. A refreshing change from some of the recent titles. Although I have had it for two years and hadn't touched it because my comp was a joke at the time and I can't handle slow mo. A very nice aquisition I am glad I picked it up. Company seems excellent as well. Had no problem scoring a Reg key because my version didn't contain one.
