Heard about this awhile back and wanted to play, but didnt want to fork out the 50 bucks so got it today finally at a local game stop closing down for 10 bucks. I already upgraded and all to the enhanced version. I like the game so far and im diggin it but one thing im not liking is not being able to change the camera view to look around with holding down my right mouse click instead of the mouse wheel.. thats how i always have had my controls for these type of games. It throws me off and doesnt feel right and i tried both views and like the distant one better. Anyway i can change the mouse wheel to the right mouse click instead? thanks

It's a matter of taste. I personally like the F3 view ;D

We know how to change to controls of keyboard commands, but you didn't ask that. I, personally, don't know how to change the assignment of commands to the mouse, and it's possible that no one else who read your post does, either.

why dont you try the OTS camera that needs no mouse button pressed to turn around?

Ah, just finished the game (EE) and i'm filled with a mixture of strange feelings. I just want to say, congratulations to CDProjectRED for making this and thanks! I could not find a single mechanic or story-direction to moan about. The occaisional bug, the odd difficult fight (which i'm glad to say were never impossible, just needing the right mixture of potions and tactics) but it was all a highly polished epic. It took me about the time it might to read a decent-sized novel, and there was no laziness to be found in repetitive or recycled environments (apart from the crypts though they were all so interesting besides that that doesn't count - whether they advanced the story or were part of a unique quest...) and the quests were all spectacularly interesting!I could ramble on all night, so i'll just list things :3- great character development- teriffic "consequence" mechanic.- pitch-perfect voice-acting, only movies might take it any steps higher.- really great combat system, huge variety of attacks and always exciting to use.- brilliant setting, and well done for pulling it off too.- spectacular storyline (out of interest, was it written by Sapkowski or someone else?)- amazing graphics and superb animations - Geralt's flashy fighting techniques are a thrill to watch on their own.- VERY well balanced game - I played it on the hard difficulty, and there was no point that I felt I was too high/low level, or had too much/little gold.A real gem of a game. I can't wait to see what you guys mince Geralt through next, but I already found everything I would look for in an RPG (or indeed a fantasy story) in the Witcher. Bravo! And try gently nudging those translators to get a few more Witcher novels out and about for me if you get the chance.

Hi stormwinds, welcome on board :wave:Nice to see that you enjoyed the game so much. There is already a sequel in the works (alpha version), this news bases on leaked footage but is confirmed. The gamestory was written by a CDPR's storywriter, it's not a Sapkowski creation. It's an independing story in Sapkowski's Witcherworld with several characters from the novels, e.g. Shani, Triss, Yaevinn, Toruviel, Zoltan, Dandelion, Rayla, King Radovid and King Foltest, his daughter Adda... and maybe more I don't remember right now.

And they only had 2 animators.. and ran out of time and money for mocap sessions.Imagine how good the Witcher 2's animations will look with their bigger animator team and time+money for mocap... plus better graphics!

Hi, newbie here too. I actually played the game last year but since I just finished reading The Last Wish in english (and am currently reading Blood Of The Elves) I'm just itching to start the game all over again ;) Plus I just managed to find the Collector's Edition of the original (non Enhanced) game on Amazon.de for a bargain price, it's on my shelf now ;D Anyways, I'm not a big rpg fan but The Witcher was just an awesome game to play, brought back memories of another (very old, was 1994 I think) game, Blood Omen-Legacy of Kain, which had a similarly dark/gothic atmosphere. My only gripe is/was the dice minigame which you have to play A LOT in order to make enough money to buy the best items, and we all know how boring it is to play against a pc, not to mention the fact that if one isn't particularly stupid :teeth: he will quicksave before starting a match, just in case he loses money. And thats sort of cheating hehe. Oh yes, fighting too, I was always so damn concentrated watching when the flaming cursor would appear that I missed most of the cool combo animations, which is a bummer (I actually planned on buying a new generation console just to play the Rise Of The White Wolf and have my revenge on the damned cursor :p). Other than that The Witche is one of the best games I played in years (and I played A LOT of games). It's on my top five list along with the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series and another couple titles. And one of the few which makes me want to immerse myself in it's cruel magic world all over again :)

I didn't play dice on my fist playthrough and Geralt survived it. It was a bit restrictive at the beginning to afford one book and he bought the excellent leather jacket almost to the end of Act III but this didn't annoy me too much.

That IS cool, isn't it?Play one, play 'em all! :DGiven that we can have the voice-over in one language and the subtitles in another, we can probably learn new languages via The Witcher. Well, as long as all we need to say in a language is "I'm here about the notice" and "I must speak with you about Salamandra." :D

Uh-Uh! I don't think so. I found it particularly difficult when I tried it. Pity BG is not among them, but RU seemed OK for me.Still, it did not fit well as I was always confused what to do. Me, a pro now at this... confused?? Proof it don't work for us all. :(

Really? I didn't know that. I LOVED Sapkowski's works (yes, I finished them now - 3 of 'em translated) and now it's not even based on them? This frightens me a little. Hope they know what they are doing... :whatthe:

I'm sitting at my desk listening to music while downloading EE and Director's Cut versions of the game. Since the PX on base only had The Witcher Original and I don't have the luxury of going to a gamestop or something to buy it. I am eagerly awaiting to play this game.Cheers everyone!-Stycks

I bought the game recently from Atari (wish Impulse could distribute it in France, ).I love the game.It crashes way too often, including during saves, which makes autosave mandatory, but that's the only flaw I can think of.I love the 2D art used to show the unexpected consequences of one's choices. The load screens are also great, and some 3D models faces are also very beautiful. But most of all the story is great, and the choices/consequences and general atmosphere of the game remind the books very well. Congratulations to the writers.Great gameplay, I only had one case of looking for spoilers to find out how to cross that damn city (before finding I had to wait till dawn to be able to enter where I had to..) so I could stay immerged in the game very well.

Ok, another thing I HATE about this game. Oh well, one more thing to the list of undesirables...The game's loading times are really starting to bug me, and even after all the pc speed I have, these loads are taking my precious game time awayto such a point that I don't even feel like switching on the game. For a veteran gamer playing years now, I guess this should be accepted and eventolerated for now. Hopefully TW2 will not have this same problem... I may tolerate it at first, but it always comes back at you. :peace:

So glad you enjoyed it so much. Ready for another play-through? As I think you noticed, your choices chose your path, so there are others... why not have another go at it?Hope you find time to enjoy all this game has to offer, as I know that some of us are really time-pressed. Have fun, enjoy. :peace:

It would be fun to play it again, I don't think I would have done anything differently though. I just bought the book off Amazon. The writing in the game the story so impressed me! When I have the time probably in Dec I want to play KOTOR 2 something I never played before. The Witcher was better then what I imagined it to be!
