Hey everyone, I could use your help.

So I'm a final year psychology student and I'm doing my dissertation thesis on video games and personality. I really need people to fill in my questionnaire so I can do this, and the only necessity is that you have played The Witcher 3, so I thought, what better place to ask? The questions should only take about 20 minutes and I'd really appreciate your help in the matter.

The questionnaire can be found here:

Thanks so much if you can help, I really appreciate it!

Hey there, @MistoElectra , I've filled out your questionnaire. It's an interesting proposition, and I'd be very curious to see what you find, based on the responses. With respect, I offer a slight critique of your method, however: Since this is a public survey, for non-specialists, I believe you could define those psychological categories, into which you anticipate most of your results to fall, more clearly for your participants, as they may be confused, or even disturbed, by the characteristics mentioned at the end of the form.

On a purely technical note, the 'human traits' section was a bit redundant, as some of the entries were merely inversions of others. Also, the format of that section was somewhat inconvenient, as it was necessary to constantly scroll over, to select the furthest right option.

Good luck with your studies!

Done. I had to rely on very vague memories on some of the questions, though.

Anyway, always glad to participate in surveys like these that are part of someone's studies. :)

Survery Done! Happy to help!

Hope people take some time to do the survey and that you get lots of good data :)

Thank you to everyone who has done the survey so far!
The issue of scrolling over to see all the options has been brought to my attention, and I'm working on fixing it if I can.
In terms of the human traits section, with some statements being inversions of others, this is due to using measurements of personality that have already been validated in previous studies, and have not been created by me but issued for use, so there's not much I can do about that, but thanks for pointing it out, and it will be taken into account during analysis!

Tried to answer the survey, but couldn't remember the amount of times I did something, so I've decided not to pollute it. Sorry.

Done with the survey!

I did a survey for my master thesis as well so I know how hard and frustrating it can be to get willing participants and for their answers to be thoughtful, complete, honest and actually usable. Especially since I done the survey in person and still watched some people just circle answers nilly willy without reading, some out right refused me.

So I hope you can make sense of my data. Anyhow, good luck to you with that! I hope everything goes well.

@MistoElectra, It was a very good survey. Interesting questions. Only one question I had trouble understanding the context of the question: "I have little concern for others". I didn't know if the emphasis is on "Have" or "Little" (as in, meaning, it is not I don't have any concern, but I do have concern). Sorry, English is not my mother tongue. So, I chose the safe option of "neither or nor" for that :)

Having little concern for others means you don't care much about others.

Do people seriously need to remind themselves it's just a game? Are we going into that "Ready Player One" world? Jeez.. :cautious:

First off not everyone is equal and everyone will react differently. My first guess would be that people with high neuroticism and high agreeableness who would generally have trouble with making choices and with facing confrontational situations, even if virtual, would display such coping mechanisms.

I see me and this guy being in the same category psychologically. Interesting survey, and I would assume you're probably right about some kind of correlation being there. I would be more interested to know which side more people seem to lean towards. I feel psychopathic when I make decisions in video games, but they give me the freedom to make those choices :D

Glad to help. Best of luck on getting enough replies to make this work for you. One thing that's always appealed to me in the Witcher series is the tension about how "neutrality" often means committing to an action that is actively negative to one group, but positive towards another.

Thanks so much to everyone who's completed this so far! We're about a third of the way there in terms of how many replies we need, so still a little bit to go. And of course, I'd be more than happy to share results once they're through!
