I really do not care how good a game is. Paid DLC puts a bitter taste in my mouth, paying for EE content would have been shit.

I wouldn't have payed for EE content. At least I would not have been enthusiastic about it.

But if it's a 5-6 hours story based DLC, I would consider buying it.
Depends if it adds something that deserves a DLC and not just a cash in.

If it's actually 6 hours and not just marketing stuff like EE was, just keep that in mind. Sure EE content can last 4 hours as they claimed, but since we know the game mechanics it obviously lasted a lot less for us. Took me around 1 hour for Lilies and Vipers and I assume it will take me just as long to deal with the Secrets of Loc Muinne.

However in that situation I would feel that they could make it longer and an expansion.

I didn't say I want them to make us pay for anything I'm saying I would gladly pay for more, and if they don't want my money so be it. CDPRed is a company that I wouldn't mind giving more of my hard earned cash to because they actually deserve it.

Last time I checked businesses need money to survive so whats so wrong about a good company getting more money? Should they be a charity? I thought video games were a business hmm. More money equals more problems only in the case of rap artists.

we already pay for the game, we buy extra merchandise( t-shirts, medallions, ect) we order limited or colector ediotion ect... the idea of DLC being paid has becamed a fuckign virus, with all major companies making u pay for every single megabite of extra content... we dont need CDPR to become just one more of the bunch!!!

like this guy said a few post ago, and i could not agree more with him:

Depends on the content. Additional gameplay, with more added content, and with a right kind of setting, and ultimately if it manages to peek my interest, certainly. Even though I respect CDProjektRed as a company, I still wouldn't go blindly and buy whatever they would introduce.

And no, CDPR offering DLC and additional content for free is not the main reason why I respect them.

How is it greedy that I'm saying I will pay them for more of a product I love? That sounds like a good consumer to business relationship.

As this company grows (and I hope it does) they are going to be looking for more streams of revenue. Its an inevitability that as a company grows its costs grow, and eventually them not charging for DLC will become nonviable. Idealism is nice but reality is reality as a company they need money to grow and become better and their free DLC model will go out the window in time.

greedy is askign for more than what they offer u, at the cost of makign many of the fans me included pissed off...

if nike(the shoe company) gives u an extra pair of shoes every time u buy 1 pair, until one day comes a guy who sais HEI stop giving the second pair for free i will pay for them, and from that moment on, nike makes u pay for each pair of shoes how would u feel?

if u geting it for free on the first place, why do u want them to charge u money? u know how many fans from otehr companies such as bioware get pissed off everytime the company makes u pay for any fucking dlc? u know how many of them wish they could get it for free?

ur proposition if not greedy, selfish it is then!

I finished the game yesterday and ready to buy anything regarding this game. A remake for the original game would be great.

I don't think me alone is going to change CDPRed's free DLC policy, and your not understanding what I am saying. I said I would gladly pay for DLC from this company not that they should charge for it. I know I am not speaking for everyone here on the forums and I may be in the minority.
Also Bioware DLC is crap, a few extra weapons that destroy balance and some generally useless armor sets. If your paying for that then you really should be pissed off. I would rather pay for the good stuff ("Troll trouble" is awesome) and show my support to a company that deserves it. Also as a smaller company CDPRed needs all the money they can get so why not help out a company that respects its products and consumers.

What if one day they do end up charging for DLC what will you do? Write them off as another bunch of greedy jerks? Or will you understand that they are a business and need money to make the products you love. Free is good but more is better.

revolutions usually start becouse of 1 person, the idea expand and infect othres peoples mind exactly as a virus... and yes i am not udnetandign what u saying, u saying u will pay for dlc but that they should not charge for them?(only you will pay for dlcs then if they remain free?) so why not just sending them money on ur own, why starting a topic about what u wish to do?

if u want to help the company pay for producsts they give u, t-shirts, pre order the games, or launch a campaing to rise founds for the company, if they really needed money and asked for it on form of donations i would gladly donate a few bucks, but that is not the case what u are askign for is complatly diferent ur askign them to stop givign away free stuff and charge for them cos acordign to u they need the money!! hell u seems to know more about the finatial status of the company taht the owners!

when taht day comes i will just go backl to pirating the games, i never brought the Withcer 1, first than all cos i never had heard anything about it, about the story it is based on or anythign related to it really, not even saw any gameplay previos to playing it.. but i played it, adn replayed it so many times i lost count and i loved it, i readed all books, and when witcher 2 came out this time i paid for it, i could just have dowloaded a pirated copy, but the game was awesome, the story it is based on is awesome, they give u free dlcs as contrary to other companies and the convination of those made me actually pay money and contribute.. the day they star charging me money for extra content i will simply star geting them free at any torrent site, as i started doing with mass efffect games since they starting charging for every single megabite of any unnesesary extra content they released!!!

I would pay only for expansion, also paid dlcs implies that standard version of the game is unfinished, therefore i would consider not buying their next game.

"when taht day comes i will just go backl to pirating the games"
Seems like you are your own worst enemy.
That is the reason companies nickel and dime today cause they know they will lose sales to pirates and need to make up for it some how. And anyone who says pirated games are not lost sales because the person had no intention of buying the game is nuts. Stealing is stealing no matter how you philosophize it, you took some thing you didn't pay for and are using it illegally. If you had no intentions of buying the game you should not own a copy period

actually epople started pirating games becouse the prices whre extremely hight, becouse they started charging u extra money for extra content, becouse things like a DEMO did not existed, so u did not knew what u was geting... or simpley becosue the 5h lenght crapy game was not worth even worth spending 5 bucks.... thats why epople started pirating games.....

and yes as i said if the day comes adn they start charging me money for extra content in form of dlcs i will go back to pirate the games and gett them free anyway, and i am sure am not the only one....

contrary to what u say companies do not rise their prices adn charge u extra money for extra content becouse pirate games, they do it cos they greedy as hell... if other companies followed teh example of CD RED PROJECKT am sure the pirate numbers would get way lower! as u see here http://en.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?/topic/30321-my-god-cdpr-your-gamer-friendly-strategy-is-actually-working/ their customers first policy do give resaults!

big companies will allways make profit of theyr games in lower or higer degree, its cost less than 10 millions to produce a good game, selling it at 60 bucks all u need is 1 million peopl to buy it and u get 6 times the amount of money u inverted..... but as i say in stead of that they want to make 50 times the money they inverted so they end up cuting the game, reducign its leght to cut expenses, and later on releasing what they cut in form of paid dlcs to get even more money.... + dotn forget all the extra merchandise they sell.... maps, cups of caffe, anythign that has the game logo or company name on it becomes an extra way of income.... remeber that game indistry is a 60 billion dollar a year indistry, way higer than movies!

I want an expansion that explains the lore and the setting and alot of stuff for the people who haven't read the books or played the first game. It could be Geralts past adventure,a pre-amnesia Geralt. I mean they did it for the comic why not an expansion?
Maybe somewhere in Kaer Mohren?

It could answer a bunch of questions for newbies to the series like

>how witchers are made
>why witchers remain neutral
>what happened on Thanned,Brenna and it's significance
>why Geralt is famous?
>more stuff about the history of the world and and stuff about magic

Your just trying to justify piracy. Demos have been around longer than I can remember and determining whether you would like a game is easy, review sites are numerous and offer varying opinions so you can see if a game is for you or not. If you did not pay for it you should not own it in any form.

And who says you have to buy the DLC? If you don't want buy it don't pay for it easy as that.

oh am not justifying anything, thigs are the way they are and i am a proud pirate.. btw i have never really played much atention to reviews many times the companies who produce the games pay or buy those reviews, and otehr times the reviews are not acurate what so ever..

exaclty thats why i download the dlcs from any company who charge for them in stead of pay for them... i began paying but since i realised that it was a scam to get extra money i adopted the dowload policy.. its simple u should try it...

You're serious? Yeah sure there are some people who get pirated copies just because they can, but the vast majority of people who download off torrents are people from poorer countries, where games are expensive compared to the average salary and while most people can afford an OK PC can can run a wide range of games they can't afford to buy a lot of games.

Hell in my country of Romania, which has it well off compared to many other countries, the average salary is 400 Dollars. A copy of windows is around 200. while getting a computer that can run many games well costs around 300 dollars, and that's if you buy it first hand which many people don't and instead buy second hand computers that are generally less expensive and more powerful.

Then you have games which costs roughly 60 on launch dollars here. ( At least that's how much TW2 did ) and you will have a lot of people unwilling to buy an Operating System let alone games and my country against has it well off. There are many countries which do not have shops to sell games or where games are expensive as fuck.

When we hear of 4 million pirated copies of the W2 on PC one does not think of those poorer countries, and despite what a lot of people claim you do NOT need a powerful RIG to run it on the lowest settings, and when I say run it I mean with roughly 30 fps.

Hell without disc sellers I wouldn't have started playing video games in the first place ( and it goes the same for most other people here ). Disc Sellers are people who pirate games and then copy the installation on discs with cracks and sell them to people. In my country there were disc sellers long before there were retailers.

I despise the people who demonize pirates, because they don't know shit about how piracy works.

Read The Last Wish and The Blood of Elves, they are the 2 books that have been translated to English. They answer a lot of the question you are asking and they'll further help immerse you in the Witcher's world. (plus they kick butt)
