And anyone who says pirated games are not lost sales because the person had no intention of buying the game is nuts
You're serious? Yeah sure there are some people who get pirated copies just because they can, but the vast majority of people who download off torrents are people from poorer countries, where games are expensive compared to the average salary and while most people can afford an OK PC can can run a wide range of games they can't afford to buy a lot of games.
Hell in my country of Romania, which has it well off compared to many other countries, the average salary is 400 Dollars. A copy of windows is around 200. while getting a computer that can run many games well costs around 300 dollars, and that's if you buy it first hand which many people don't and instead buy second hand computers that are generally less expensive and more powerful.
Then you have games which costs roughly 60 on launch dollars here. ( At least that's how much TW2 did ) and you will have a lot of people unwilling to buy an Operating System let alone games and my country against has it well off. There are many countries which do not have shops to sell games or where games are expensive as fuck.
When we hear of 4 million pirated copies of the W2 on PC one does not think of those poorer countries, and despite what a lot of people claim you do NOT need a powerful RIG to run it on the lowest settings, and when I say run it I mean with roughly 30 fps.
Hell without disc sellers I wouldn't have started playing video games in the first place ( and it goes the same for most other people here ). Disc Sellers are people who pirate games and then copy the installation on discs with cracks and sell them to people. In my country there were disc sellers long before there were retailers.
I despise the people who demonize pirates, because they don't know shit about how piracy works.
