I would love to see the Renfri story in W3

I'm only half way in to the Last Wish... but last night I read the Renfri story and thought how cool this would be if it was in W3...

It would work perfect as you would need to talk to both Renfri and Stregobor to get both side of the stories. Then pick a side (or pick none like the book).. also when visited by Renfri at night you could get a chance to "romance" her.

So I'm keeping my fingers crossed this might make it to W3.

It already happened several years before TW3, it would make no sense...^^

They could always reuse the plot but change the names. I believe they did something similar in W1. Not outright, as in a quest, but they referenced the story of Ciri and whatnot in a tavern, but under a different name.

After all, history DOES repeat itself.

I totally see what you mean and I mostly agree (although I think it directly refered to Ciri, didn't it ?), but what I mean is... just don't fall into fan service, please...^^

It's a great story, but I don't see much use in rehashing it in the game when we already know it from the books.

Especially when it was already rehashed with deadre. but a tavern tale akin to what they did on W1 with ciri would be ok.

Don't worry.
I'm sure that CDPR will come up with equally good quests and characters
that will move you in similar ways.

Yes I was thinking the same, in fact I wanted to work on this as an adventure for REDkit but I moved to something else. Maybe someone else could implement this with REDkit, It is very suitable for TW2s design.

There's a side-story in the Witcher: Enhanced Edition that allows Geralt to interact with a character similar to Renfri.

http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/The_Price_of_Neutrality

The story shares many similarities with the short story "The Lesser Evil".

Noble girl born under the Black Sun and the mage after her.
A mage with a highly realistic illusionary abode, complete with a partner of the opposite gender.
A letter of safe conduct from a king with a spelling error.

Renfri is possibly my favourite female character and that story is amazing but I don't think adapting these stories with different names work too well. I think the outcome is a lot better when CDPR write their own story set in Witcher universe rather than repeating already existing ones.

Still, I wish it was somehow possible. I'd be happy with a tavern tale like arkblazer said.

Why not create a few shorter adventures based on the stories? I would really like an adventure based "A Grain of Truth" (the one with Nivellen who was changed into a beast and the Bruxa (vampire) Vereena). A Lesser Evil and the one about Cintra would also make good games.

I'd kill the mage for her.

rather than rehashing dead character, I would prefer to see current status of characters like Nivellen and how he is doing in society :look:

I have a very strong opinion about recycling stories. If there's nothing of worth to add, leave it as it is. This applies to movies and games based on books, and the other way around.

CDPR has a very competent team of writers. Let them be creative.

1. No. This is a bad idea.
2. Who the fuck necroed a nearly year old thread? That was also a bad idea.
