Idea for the next witcher title

Hi CDP,

I must congratulate you guys for the best action RPG I have ever played. I thought ME2 was the best, but witcher 2 surprised me and delivered in ways that ME2 couldn't ever match. Love the deep narrative, I absolutely LOVE the combat mechanic (Stopped playing witcher 1 due to crappy typical rpg combat), didn't like the short 3rd chapter, but still, it was a fantastic experience. Finished it once, waiting for 2.0 to start playing again and take a different path through chapter 2. ALso excited for the combat arena.

I do have a suggestion for your future title in terms of combat: Streamline it like batman arkham asylum or AC: Revelations, by which I mean ability to engage multiple hostiles and more flexibility in the counter mechanic. I mean look at your fantastic trailer (CGI) combat. It would be awsome if we can do that in game.

cheers,

V

AA and TW2 are fundamentally different. TW2 should elaborate on the base system it already has.

I would like to give Geralt better tools to deal with multiple enemies - up close. We know traps and bombs can deal massive damage to groups, what Geralt needs is to jump into the thick of things and be able to deal with it. To this end I advocate the following tweaks.

1. First and foremost, Geralt's reflexes must reflect mine. He needs to react just as I press the button. The current recovery frames gimp the player, because as it is now, I'm 2 or 3 three steps ahead of him...this is a Witcher we're talking about.

2. Group weapons like the pole axe hit multiple enemies in a wide arc. We need more types of these weapons in the game. They should also incur a greater stumble back effect on the enemy. This would buy Geralt time to swing again as the attack of these weapons are fairly slow, but powerful. It should be like harvesting wheat with a scythe.

3. Blocking should use less vigor than signs. When you start the game out, one blocked hit or one use of a sign both consume one point. I would have blocking consume less, maybe half a point, right from the beginning of the game.

4. Parry/stun effect. When we effectively block, the enemy is thrown of balance. This is good. But I would like a type of parry that is similar to what fighting games use. If we press block just as the attack hits, we score a bonus on knock back, that is, the enemy is staggered even more, buying us valuable time to counter or move on to the next target.

I agree that AA and witcher 2 are different. I was just hinting at a similar point to your post about geralt's reflexes. I do agree, they do seem a bit slow. Button press...geralt takes a second or so to start the animation and react. However, in addition, it would be nice if you could keep a kill streak going with context sensitive take down moves and counters. Combat is a big part of any action rpg and witcher 2 was a fantastic step forward. A bit more implementation from games like AC series or Batman games will make it ever more fun to go through the game multiple times.

Ohh...and before I forget....BONUS for multiple play through::: Allow us to keep weapons from end of previous play through, give us some money etc...kinda like IN ME2. Give us lets say some bonus experience points, maybe unlock some exclusive weapons. I must say after finishing the game, I started a second play through, but its hard going back from 35lvl swordsman to again lvl1.

Save these kinds of threads for when the next game is announced(hopefully not before another 2 years, as i want witcher 2 to benefit from extended development). Posting them now just means they'll be forgotten and wasted.

They should be reading the forums now. And maybe even responding once in a while.

Ok, some combat tweaks suggestions - this is nice. But how about we don't go on that input lag thing for the 1000th time, that should be reported in some Report Bugs thread.

I personally hope CDPR doesn't take too much from Batman:AA nor AC. Don't get me wrong - those are both solid games, I am playing AA right now and loving it, and AC2 is one of my favourite games. But streamlining combat to this point, when even when you're surrounded by 5-6 enemies they attack 1 at a time while the rest is waiting for their turn wouldn't be a step forward.

I agree that digging deeper into a mechanic that would allow us fight multiple enemies in some smoother and creative way might be welcome, but at the same time I hope CDPR stays true to more hardcore, skill based combat style. Lot's of creativity in this team, so fingers crossed they deliver once again.

Maybe they could introduce boss fights/quests like the one with the Killer Croc in AA, finished that mission last night and it was really good.

>I want the pace is of Witcher 1 back where you weren't always in a hurry.

You don't have much time to do sidequests(or even sleep) in chapter 2 since everythings always hanging in the balance

>Dungeons shouldn't be right next to town make another one of those cheap boat rides.

There's no feeling of isolation since you're so near the damn town. It's like camping in your backyard no fun.

>Quality over Quantity with weapons and armor, Every armor/weapon made should be poster quality.

>Armor shouldn't be found on corpses or some other places that don't make sense they should just be bought.

Flotsam in particular could have been bigger. It should be the sandbox in the game. The fact is, while environments in both TW games are quite open and beautiful, CDPR still has something to learn about enticing players with exploration elements, like a Bethesda game effectively does. It's a small complaint though. I still admire the level design in this game.

I played the witcher 2 first, then the second one, and when I replayed TW2 after that, I actually missed something similar to a group style. I know you can put some points into the ability that lets you hit multiple opponents, but it doesn't feel as effective as in the first game.

more open world elements/freedom to roam in very large areas like in chapter 3 of witcher 1 (the fields and meadows) more monster slaying contracts, more naked & lusty vampires/bruxae in witcher 1 the vampires got my blood rushing ;)

So far so good. I don't care if they have to sacrifice graphics for the aesthetics of the game. The Witcher 1 colors/light and so on fitted very well.

Bring back the Menu from TW1.

Make the game longer at least 60+ hours long.

More places to discover.

The Fighting stances from TW1.

Just more features in general like in The Witcher 1.

Better combat mechanic, where ever Geralt is facing and swing the Sword he should hit, not wait for the Yellow buggy icon to move at the target you are staring at.

I also agree with user pbpoovanna. It felt like there was not Monster Slaying at all. Bring unique quests and monsters.
