Personally, I have no desire to unlock "achievements". They are achievements in name only, and I never understood their function in a game. They seemingly acted as some form of back-patting for users who enjoyed that, often tasking the person with either completing an act that eventually was going to become an eventuality regardless, or to extraneously works towards an out of the way goal to gain little more than the recognition of having done so. But again; to each his own. If that floats your boat, more power to ya.
I consider achievement unlocking an extension of my hoarding and collection obsession. It's not something rational.
In any case, achievements/trophies should be given as milestones and also for things that require skill. There should be one for something based completely off luck, since it's possible (but highly unlikely) for someone to unlock Poker! in their very first in-game poker game, or not unlock it for weeks, if not months.
On the other hand, something like "Beat the entire game on Insanity" requires skill, and is not dependent on luck. If I was able to beat Letho on Insanity 3x in a row, utilizing a particular technique, ANY player will be able to utilize that same technique and beat him consistently.
The same cannot be said for luck-based achievements. The frustration of trying to unlock Poker! is like having an achievement that says "Beat the game on insanity" (aka without dying) and having a part of the game that RANDOMLY kills you, with no consistent way to dodge the attack other than luck.
In any case, while "just because you didn't find it entertaining, doesn't mean that others did not" is true, I have not come across a single person who enjoyed unlocking that achievement -- not on Steam forums, not on GameFAQs, or anywhere.
