So I went back to what I thought was my original playthrough and it wasn't. And I delete my original playthrough save it would seem...so I'm done with this game. I'm just done. I can't play this anymore. This has just destroyed my want to play this game. I'm just....words are hard to describe how I feel right now. The best word would expect depressed.

The original save is gone because I'm an diot and my want to play this game is gone. It's a great game, but the limitations they have in place for only allowing 1 ng+ is terrible. Thanks for the fun trip CD Projekt Red. But this game is going to stay shelved indefinitely more then likely.

Well... there are other great games, like Minecraft or Daikatana, to have fun with no need to ask for a savegame-upload from someone with the same level and same romance choices to just continue playing Witcher 3 to enjoy the newest DLC Blood and Whine when getting on Lv35......

It just infuriates and depresses me a lot. I have over 16 days of play time in the game and I wanted to end it on a bang with doing the a full playthrough one more time to 100.

I might do that, but after what happened, I'm shelving the game for a while. It's left a bad taste in my mouth.

Don't blame the game! Blame the gamer!
Do a little file management. Inside the Game Saves folder, create a Backup Folder. For me, I like having 2 folders inside of those. Current Run, with a copy of the files that game will use and End Game Saves with the last file of each NG or in a few cases, NG+, renamed to reflect which playthrough are they referring to. (Like UrsineGearNG.sav or CatGearNG.save) - When and if I want to play them, I just copy/paste them into the main save game folder and TW3 will read the file with my custom name. After I backup the current run files, that is.

You can't make multiple saves on a NG+ game-through?

If you wish, there is a specific thread where you can ask for a save game with the details you wish and you will probably get it. Like which Set or romance you had, which point of the playthrough you were, etc. Try it before shelving the game. The Witcher 3 is damn worthy!

One thing I wish we had are separate directories for different playthroughs instead of just one save-game directory. Sometimes I get confused and overwrite one save with another one.

Ah sorry to hear that, that is devastating after you spend so much time and effort, I've done something similar, imo they need more save slots for a massive game like this, I deleted a save but luckily it wasn't my original save, but it was my save where I collected the rest of diagrams and collected all armors, not to bad but annoying still

Yeah there's like 10 slots on ps4, not enough when doing multiple playthrough as I like yo make many saves from differnt point as I know it's easy to fuk up and if you're an ocd completionist it's annoying

That's actually very suprising. If you look at any Bethesda big "RPGs", they all had no limits on the number of saves you can keep around. Even on consoles. although not particularily sure about PS3, PS4, but it's no limits on Xbox's. I imagine it's the same on PS's.

I've also lost my saves on my Xbox One due to the very reason OP stated. I now can't stomach starting a new playthrough, well, maybe when the game is fully patched and the rumors about GOTY/EE clear out. But definitely not now.

I just can't get it, why different playthroughs don't get different names so that they're kept separate from each other. I don't even have a grudge against limited number of saves, I just don't like them all being in one place, creating a confusing mess.

I had over 15 days put into the game. And I even got all the question marks in Skillige. And sold ALL the armor and weapons to have over 100K gold. And I had so many mats that I needed....starting over from scratch just doesn't seem worth it.

I'd rather hold my breath and hope they change their mind about allowing multiple ng+ instead of only one. They've said they won't, but if it's in high demand. Then who knows.

There is. Only 8 manual save slots on X1 for that matter. Don't know about PS4.

Yeah it's the same. What's the point in limiting it, could be because it will lag and take a while to load the save games If there's to many I'd guess

When my boyfriend played Skyrim, he had to delete hundreds of saves because game wasn't working properly anymore. There was no limitations to save files but it ruined the game if there were too many. Although it would be nice to have about 15 save slots on consoles.
