I'm disappointed how romances are handled. It's like game doesn't care if you're with someone already.

It sucks entirely having to experience such a great build up to the romance scene only to end with emptiness.. like really? What better way to get players hooked more than being able to interact/do more with these amazingly written and appealing characters?

I understand the game was rushed and this wasn't the main priority but man it sure feels like it's becoming a serious complaint for a good percentage of the fans based on what I'm seeing in the community.

EDIT: So after the sex scene with Judy, there's an option to enter a relationship with her. That's what I did. After the romance, I decided to continue my main quest with Rogue and Panam. While I was driving with Panam, she asked my FemV if she has anyone important. Additional dialogue option unlocked for me regarding Judy.
"Sort of". Sort of. That's it? SORT OF? "Sort of" option said: "Eh, on and off, to be honest", like, V, how the hell? She's literally in a relationship with Judy and that's what she says? That's a kick in the tits, honestly. It truly left me baffled.

SORT OF.

It's literally just like.. Cheating? I mean, fuck me, it leave me so pissed off that V had the option to be honest here and solidify it but you instead get the choice between a soft "no" and a hard "no". Fucking vague, V. Well done.

You legit have V and Judy talk about how serious the romance is. The sex, the emotional intimacy meant a lot to the both of them (if you choose to tell Judy that it meant something) and we get a "on an off".

....How.

I romanced River and I am beyond disappointed. 1) Hes not part of the main story at all and can be missed 2) After I romanced him, he doesn't even answer the call 3) For some reason atmy ending we are on bad terms

Feels like River was added later in the game and didn't bother.

Not a lot of thought went into this during development, simple as that. If you don't romance Judy yet and do that Panam job, you can say that it's just a matter of time until you find that special someone, which fits way better.

Oh exactly! I spend about 10 minutes in Judy's apartment trying to find SOMETHING to do. ANYTHING. Wow, I can lean on a window and repeat the same 2 questions to her, fantastic. Not.

You can also access your stash at her place. Whoo! Except if you use the stash at all or play the game really, you run the risk of making your save larger than 8mb and screwing yourself over. In the end there's no point to the romance just like there really isn't a point to the rest of the game. Makes Anthem seem like it was more of a complete game at launch.

SMALL SPOILERS AHEAD!

I loved Judy romance, it was sweet, I was beyond happy when I learned she's a lesbian. After I finished the romance I decided to dive into some side quests and there I met River, male romance for Fem V. Basically, game forgot my fem V is in a relationship with Judy.

Johnny was commenting how Fem V wants to be boned by River, there was NO OPTION to deny that even. Then when I advanced to Rivers' quest where there was a small family gathering, his family was constantly commenting how great they look together and again, NO OPTION to disagree. Hell, there wasn't even an option to mention Judy or to mention "I'm already with someone" or anything like that. After dinner, even Fem V was commenting about some romantic walk with him by herself.

Honestly, that's a major dick move to a player who already LOCKED INTO romance with someone. I don't know if it's the other way around River-Judy, but if it's the same, then it's lame as fuck. Not to mention, CDPR always said that sex scene is not the end of the romance. Guess what? Yes, it is. There's nothing more after the sex scene.

EDIT: So after the sex scene with Judy, there's an option to enter a relationship with her. That's what I did. After the romance, I decided to continue my main quest with Rogue and Panam. I feel you judys storyline was so very immersive and heartwarming you experience her happiness, her grief, her anger, and her redemption making it a very interesting relationship and even after her last mission both of you still talk like she still call and text you sometimes or even add some random events when you call her making you feel like there really is a romantic relationship between you two while the other romance options like panam character wise panam is really great the only disappointing part is her story feels so empty, rushed, and lacks content and character development and after completing her last mission she never call, text, or do things like what judy does after her last mission only thing you can do is call her and ask her those repetitive dialogues it makes you feel as if you guys arent even in a relationship and like it feels like she doesnt care that V is dying it feels like a one night stand and then she vanish from you life unless you pick her as your ending and for river ward his story is so forgetful that I almost forgot helping him on his mission and even some of my friends didnt realise that his a romanceable character as for kerry was a little bit interesting but it still feels the same as panam and for meredith she really needs more content just having one night stand with her is really bullcrap, really wish CDPR update there storyline and make it feel more like you guys really are in a relationship.

Romance left me greatly disappointed. All of the relationships felt so artificial, and the sex scenes where mediocre, minus the one with Judy who got the most elaborated and explicit of them. And there's the fact that each character just have one sex scene per romance instead of several or at least one more, and even when you got into a relationship, it doesn't feel like one, there's no romantic interactions, no dates, not spending time with that NPC. Not asking for a couple simulator but they could have put some effort in this department, hell, character interactions in general feel artificial. Bioware understood that with Mass Effect and Dragon Age, and they came to develop great romance and character interactions in The Witcher Saga, so it angers me that that aspect fails here so greatly.
And I'm sorry but I have to make some comparisons with GTA V, in that game you could call your friends to go out and do stuff like play sports, go to the mvies or get drunk, but here, it seems like it's all business and you can only interact with characters in quests

I agree except for judy all other romance option feels like there's no relationship, no loving connection like after their last mission they vanish from you life only way to talk to them is through calling them still its just a repetitive dialogue nothing special.

What I'm saying is, that before everything came to it's abrupt stop, Judy's romance was the one that build up more naturally than the rest of the relationships, and then you bang her and that's it and all the build up ends in nothing

completely agree with OP.

1st: they had to make V to go back after the story to the city for his 6 months, not go back in time right before last mission.
2nd: if V has relations they must last, not acting like there was no relations. V must be in relations these 6 months.

Even Judy giving you the key to her apartment. It's supposed to mean something. You don't give the key to your home to random people (unless you don't care that they steal all your shit while you're gone). Yet there's absolutely no point to it. It shows up as a home on your map, but it's really not. Judy just leans in the window with 3 extra dialogue options that are pointless, and you have access to your stash (which if you use it as you would in other RPGs might cause your save to corrupt).

If I want to use my stash, I just have to fast travel to my actual apartment. Or I can crash my bike since I've been able to open my stash while trying to get back on my bike after crashing it.

Hell, there isn't even the option to also give your key to Judy and/or the option to have her come live with you instead or at least suggest it (V's apartment is nicer than Judy's). Having her live with you would have been an opportunity to have that apartment change too.

If you manage to have her come live with you, you get some of her stuff in your apartment (like the spider bot thing and maybe a workbench or something. It would be a nice change to the never changing apartment V has now. Plus you'd have a sexy Judy there too! Have her move around the place too. Sometimes you show up and she's working on the spider bot, sometimes on her computer doing work, sometimes sleeping and you can curl up beside her and have her greet you when you wake up.

Heck have her give you a piece of tech or weapon every once in a while when you go back to your apartment "Here hun, I got this and thought you might find it useful." Just for shits and giggles on really rare occasions or something if you sleep with her, you could wake up to Judy wearing nothing but and apron cooking food, which could lead to some light hearted couple-y dialogue:
V: "Wow that's a sight I never expected to see."
Judy: "Don't tell me you don't like what I'm wearing."
V: "No, of course not. Well unless saying I don't like it will make you lose the apron too." As V approaches and wraps her arms around Judy from behind and Judy turns her head for a kiss. (I know really cliche, but still better than what we have)
Judy: "I should have expected an answer like that from you."
V: "I didn't think anyone cooked at home anymore because of all the vending machines and food stalls."
Judy can then explain that she learned to cook from her grandparents and likes to cook once in a while to remember them.

Right now the only other advantage having access to Judy's apartment might have is to pick up and of those yellow tape/chip things that you might have missed. Some of them seem to respawn, so I can't even be sure the ones I picked up were new or ones I missed the first time I was there. Other than that it's just an icon to add to the icon clutter on the map.

That was also something that totally disappointed and also frustrated me. I've written it somewhere before. The man doesn't even answer the phone and when you visit him, you only have a few options to talk about (superficially!). And that's it for good. Really!? What am I supposed to do with this man? What does that mean? In the beginning, he ended up pretending that the relationship was important to him and he always wanted clarity. I gave it to him. My V wanted to be with him. Pointless!

So I went on to Judy. Did her quests, slept with her (just like with River), and gave her a positive outlook on the future. (Remember: Same V, no new save or something! River is still there as my first "romance" and ignoring me). It doesn't matter at all. My V slept with River and promised him a relationship, then slept with Judy and promised her a relationship as well. (A shame, because, as I said, I'm straight in real life). Well ... Judy answers the phone! LOL!

Judy's story just feels unfinished, like the apartment bit where she is leaning on the window is where they got to in development before they stopped to release it.

When you reach the point of no return, the game encourages you to stay in world and finish all the outstanding missions and when you do, several weeks to months can pass in game as you move through all the things you haven't finished.

During those weeks and months Judy doesn't move from that window, doesn't ever have anything to say. She never returns to work or continue her story with Clouds. Right before the sex scene you hear some of Judy's thoughts that leads to the moment in the bathroom. Clearly Judy has some shit to work out, but after having sex with her that all disappears and never leads anywhere.

I was so disappointed by the whole experience, it left me thinking 'why did I waste all my time on that?'
