I'm in dire need of help!!! Chapter 1 Letho fight...peculiar issues.

I have two easy questions for those of you who have played the game in Dark Mode, more particularly related to peculiar issues during the fight with Letho in Chapter 1.

1. During the fight, can you lock onto him? I can't. The soft-lock doesn't appear, and the hard-lock is disabled, but I noticed that upon hitting him the last time, a split second before the cut-scene took over, the soft-lock icon appeared on him, it lasted maybe 1 second.

2. Does riposte not work while fighting him? Yes, I have 2/2 skills in riposte, and yes I know how to use it - but same issue as above, no icons appears on him - including riposte.

I did restart the game a few times, also tried reloading a few saves back, but no matter what, I always get the same thing: no soft/hard lock-on and no riposte. It's really a pain in the rectal-cavity to not have those two fighting elements at my disposal during such a critical fight.

It automatically locks on Letho and yes you can counter with Riposte. There is no icon for Riposte you just have to time it. It can be frustrating so I don't suggest it.

Now that I think of it, yes, targeting does seem to be auto-locked on him, even if it the icon doesn't show up - and while that is definitely a head-scratcher, the fact that the icon doesn't appear for riposte is downright problematic. I suspected that it's some sort of icon glitch, or perhaps deliberately turned off, but I know what I saw - and what I saw was the soft-target icon appearing on Letho immediately after I hit him for the last time, before the cut-scene kicked in - which doesn't seem to me that this whole issue is a deliberate thing. As for the riposte issue, I did try it many times, and it just doesn't seem to work at all. That needs to be corrected because of all the fights up to that point in the game, that's the one where we need to employ everything at our disposal, and riposte is definitely one of the things I need!

Trust me you can counter him it's just very hard to time. He has 3 or 4 different strikes and each have a different time to counter. I think that the icon does not appear so that the fight is not too easy, though I feel getting in Letho's face is the wrong strategy. I personally just use Yrden the whole time.

No matter what, it's lame. If I want to use riposte, then the entire riposte feature implementation should work exactly as it always does. Given that I never went beyond the start of Chapter 2, are all "boss" fights this frustrating? Did the developers disable anything else down the line? If you tell me that riposte works, then why disable the icon. Yeah, definitely lame.

The easiest way I've found to beat letho is just roll around him taking pot shots until his quen runs out. Stay mobile and you should have no trouble backstabbing him the instant he's vulnerable and avoiding his bombs and signs. Not to spoil anything for you, but the boss fights tend to not be the place to use riposte. Mobility is the key in all of them.

I'm not sure riposte is the best way for this fight because he hits like a truck and you will take some damage even if you make good timings because of the block change. His Quen is the most annoying part of the fight and if you time your strikes to break his Quen recasts you will win. His Aard can also ruin the momentum and sometimes he pulls a cheese and casts it twice in a row.

This boss took a number of attempts for me to beat because he is one of the more random bosses in the game. His Quen/Aard/Igni mix really pissed me off but later I felt comfortable enough to do the fight without Quen and use the vigor on well placed Aards.

I had most problem in the beginning because he either hits me right off the bat or casts Aard then Quen. I tried to avoid getting hit and let him use his first Quen and ran around till it depleted. I didn't let him Quen again by landing 1~2 hard strikes and a third if I'm lucky, immediately dodging his counter attack if he parries, the Aard him to repeat the chain.

If he parries/block your attack, get away from his sword range. If you stay too far he will Igni/Bomb you. If you aren't mobile enough you will be hit by his Aard a lot and the damage will add up pretty quickly.

I haven't tried myself but Yrden trap is also good from the videos I saw.

I think Quen + Aard or Quen + Yrden is ur best bet.

If you go mostly Quen + Aard you can't be too far away from him or he'll just recast Quen very quickly. You have to stalk and look for perfect spot to hit when his shield is gone and maximize that opportunity. Stay close enough to hit him quickly, but far enough to avoid his crazy hits.

Finally, don't spam your mouse clicks it will be fatal if your character tries another hard swing when Letho is about to cut you in half. This is where most of my mistakes came from.
