Important question regarding skill resets.

Hey there,

I know everyone is probably as anxious as me to get their hands on this game but I have one important question that I cant seem to find the answer to. Regarding skill resets (potions of clearance they are called I believe) Will they also refund the skill points from places of power? It would be a shame if these are lost upon resetting. Never the less this game will be amazing I'm sure but I'd love some more information on this before I begin my play through tomorrow. Thanks in advance.

I remember they confirmed that you should be able to get the points from Places of Power as well when using a potion of skill respec (or whatever its called).

A reviewer here on the forums said you lose the skill points you got from places of power with a respec.

Can you get them back with revisiting a place of power? No idea.

This is second hand information so take it with a grain of salt. I have no working knowledge.

Edit
One of the things i wanted to do with the game on release is...

1) visit a place of power
2)mark down how many skills points I have
3)respec
4)see how many I have after the respec.
5) If I lost the point from the place of power can I get it back by visiting it again
6) Post my findings here

From what I've gathered so far: You acquire skill points from leveling up, places of power, and some quests. You spend those skill points on the skills, and you activate choosen ones. Up to a maximum of 12 seperate active skills.

You can activate, and deactivate those skills at will, and interchange the unlocked ones. But, if you reset the actual skill points, you do not get the ones acquired from places of power back. Unless this has been changed since they shared this info.

Doesn't make the most sense, though. Maybe it was changed. Dunno.

Yeah I've read many conflicting stories on this subject. I have actually spent the better part of my day today trying to figure this out. I suppose this isn't a huge deal seeing as when the game releases I can just grab a place of power and save/ reset and find out for myself. It would be nice to know before hand though.

Seeing as many people have the game already I'am kind of surprised I can't get an answer. In any case I can see arguments for both sides of this. Adding the removal of skills from places of power etc could be a game play design effectively making resetting have a consequence ( and we all know how important consequences are in the witcher).

Yeah, points from places of power will be gone with reset, some dev confirmed this recently in an interview or stream. I assumed you could get the points back with revisiting places of power. I don't get the logic in this tho; while so many things have been adjusted to benefit gameplay rather than realism, this contradicts. And if the points will be gone for good it's way worse.

You will have all your skill points. The respec potion will just unassign them. Anything else doesn't make sense IMO.

Yeah just tested this. I got all my skill points back respeccing at level 12 with 20 skill points gave me 20 unassigned points after using the potion. Next question is, do these potions respawn on the vendors that sell them? Also are the only two vendors Keira and the Novigrad guy?
