Favourite cutscene: Hard to pick one, really. If I have to settle for one in particular: the intro.Favourite character: Yaevinn. Definitely :)Favourite quote: Dandelion: "And bold Foltest spoke, 'Noble Radovid...'" - Geralt: "What?" - Dandelion: "I'm keeping a faithful and accurate chronicle of the events." - Geralt: "He said, 'Stop deliberating, son, and let's quell the fire in this whorehouse.'" - Dandelion: "That's the problem with you people - no sense of history!" (or something along these lines, I'm quoting from memory)Favourite quest: Again, hard to pick one in particular. I'm torn between Vizima Confidential (I enjoy detective stories) and Old Friend of Mine (I love the party scene :) )Favourite monster: None in particular. I really disliked the Beast, though...Favourite location: The Lakeside, especially at sunset. Poor Geralt almost got chewed up by a bunch of wyverns while I (as in, the player) was stunned by the spectacular view and the awesome music that accompanied itFavourite sign: IgniFavourite finisher: No preferences. It's the result that counts...Favourite sword fighting style: Fast SilverFavourite potion: whatever's appropriate

Favourite cutsceneLoved the end cut scene. Toss up between that and the opening cinematic.Favourite characterTough call. A lot of great characters in this game. Aside from Geralt there's Triss, Kalkstein, Thaler, Dandelion... the list goes on. If pressed to name a single favorite, I'd have to go with Zoltan though.Favourite quoteLots of great ones. Tough to pick just one, but I did like the politics/sex quote.Favourite questI liked the armor quest best probably, simply because it took a while and had a decent reward at the end of it.Favourite monsterZeugl I think, as I found it one of the tougher fights.Favourite locationHard to choose. I really liked the Lady of the Lake's island though.Favourite signAard, although I used Igni a lot.Favourite finisherI like the one where he grabs the opponent from behind and slits their throat.Favourite sword fighting styleFast Silver.Favourite potionProbably Swallow. But I used a number of different potions and found them all useful.

Just finished the game for the first time (and about to start again!). So....Favourite cutsceneThe first encounter with a transformed Vincent.Favourite characterKalkstein, the typical absent minded professor. Amongst all the chaos, of greater concern was whether Rubedo was more appropriate.Favourite quoteZoltan's "Progress is like a heard of pigs" theory.Favourite questThe Dogcatcher of Vizima. Very simple but, as a dog owner, made me feel guilty as hell.Favourite monsterThe Wild Hunt. The look and voice were spot on. (Not a category, but Zeugl was my least favourite. A bit repetetive.)Favourite locationChapter IV. Parts of it were stunning. It did feel, literally, like a breath of fresh air after the confines of Vizima.Favourite signAard. Only one I used.Favourite finisherThe shoulder jump-kill-backflip off. I think if I tried it, I'd dislocate something.Favourite sword fighting styleMaximised strong silver.Favourite potionBlizzard. Used it right to the end, even for the last fight.

I'll be blunt I cant finish the game because it plays like a clunky mess, get the inventory fixed, get the customized key mapping fixed, and get fighting to be more fluid him stuttering around i the middle of combat makes me long for a real pause command mode so I can have more control over the blasted thing.I wrote this game off as being broken but the news of a enhanced edition has perked my instrest.

Favourite cutscene Being Knighted by the Lady of the Lake, being Knighted by a goddess renders the opinions of others moot.Favourite character Its a toss up between Zoltan and Dandelion as they seem to be true friendsFavourite quote Lady of the Lake; to the effect " My Knights praised the virtues of my soul, but i know where thier eyes lingered" Favourite quest Freeing the villagers from Salmandra in the swamp Act 3Favourite monster Favourite location The lake side act 4Favourite sign ArdFavourite finisher Round house sword blowafter a stun either resulting in a decapitation or the monster just folded.Favourite sword fighting style Strong silverFavourite potion It is difficult to choose but there were 4 i relied heavily on Cat, Swallow, Argentia, and Hanged Man's VenomI will say this the complaints of people playing this game as to the amount of horse power required are correct it is a tough game to run, i have a new box i built to play this game Intel 2.4 core2 quad, bfg geforce 8800gtx oc2 768mb, 4gb ram, i play with the video settings maxed out and have only had one time where the game choked the machine, and that was act 5 breaking through the barricades I popped a barricade and some how pulled 2 groups of Order knights at the same time so with the fire, the Order knights, plus my allies my machine choked other than that the game played flawless except for the random lockups but i saved often and did not have to do to much over.My old machine was an Intel 3 ghz, 2gb ram and an Ati radeon 9800, and on the lowest video setting i got frustrated at the load times. Keep in mind that this game is relatively new (4 months) and in the computer world even my new machine was obsolete before i put it together, I can understand the frustration at the game's hardware requirements but as i play (the video settings are maxed) the game is beautyful. If you do not have the machine to run this game well yet set the game aside until you do upgrade then go back at it you will not be disappointed.

You can kill Abigail, but then i'll come back...", just badass ;DAdda's "Politics, sex. Sex, politics..."During the quest with the Werewolf when Kalkstein asks for the virgin tears of the "maiden" XDWhen Geralt says he prefers to remove a curse instead of killing a monsterEverything the Fisher King says XDAt the end the grandmaster "That sword is for monsters!"Favourite questShani's partyThe Werewolfquest with Carmen and Vincent when they end happy togetherthe quest with Alina and Celina where you free their ghosts at the endFavourite monsterBruxa, Alp, Nightrwaiths & Noonwraithsthe Zeugl and the Golem are very good bossfights :) (there are some very good and varied bossfights here. Favourite cutsceneI'm going to rule out the beginning and ending movies. They aren't done with the game graphics engine, and I think that's a shame. The intro is spectacular, and does help set up the plot, but...1: Receiving Aerondight - the silver sword - from the Lady of the Lake.2: The waterlillies approaching Black Tern Island, especially in moonlight.3: The first 'sex with Shani' cutscene, in her lodging with Grandma downstairs. Mind you that may be partly because of how much I got to like Shani as a character - extremely sexy.4: Intro to Chapter 4, the underwater city5: The first 'sex with Tris' cutscene, at Kaer Morhen. The cushion falling to the floor - discreet but very sexy.Favourite characterOut front by a long way1: The Resolute Girl. 'I know everything, ask me!' She was wonderful and really should have been given more dialogue, or perhaps a quest of her own. Also great:2: Shani. An ordinary person with no special powers except courage, trying to do what's right in a dystopian world. I want to find out whether there's more Shani in chapter 5 if you play Shani/neutral (I can't help feeling there should be)3: Zoltan. Irrepressible and great fun4: Abigail. Straightforward and well acted.5: Thaler. Complex and interestingFavourite quoteI felt the English translation was let down a bit by the use of anachronistic language - it was too modern. However, a lot of the dialogue was still great. I loved Geralt's cynicism, Zoltan's cheerfulness...1: Has to be Zoltan on philosophy. As a Scot I'm very pleased that all the Dwarves have Scots accents!2: That sword is for monsters!Favourite quest1: The Heat of the Day. Very evocative - partly the gorgeous setting, but also because you get to set the ghost free2: The quest leading up to slaying Dagon. I've only played through twice, once Shani/Scoi'tel, once Tris/neutral. I'm going to have to play through as a baddy to find out what happens when you sacrifice the prize cow - and if White Rayla becomes more of a character (you feel she ought to).3: The whole Salamandra/Witcher's Secrets quest, which isn't really a 'quest' since it's the backbone of the whole plot. But what a backbone!Favourite monster1: The Striga2: The Queen of the Night3: The talking goul in the cellar with the resolute girl4: Captain WerewolfWith all of these it's a judgement call - as Geralt says in the flashback at the end of the Striga fight, it is more rewarding (where possible) to remove the curse than to slay the monster. And that would be straightforward if Adda were a 'good' character. But Adda has already shown herself to be devious, ruthless and ambitious - and on the side of the Salamanders. So what are the ethics of saving her? Similarly with the Queen of the Night. You know she's a vampire. Can you trust her when she says she doesn't kill? Can you trust the goul not to eat the Resolute Girl, after you've left her?5: Grand Master AlvinThat is so complex. Especially if you've played the Shani plot, he's practically your stepson. You must be partly responsible for him being the way he is. And the ending of it - 'that sword is for monsters' - is a cracker.Favourite locationOK, let's start by saying that the locations are all brilliant, and there's a huge 'congratulations' to be said to the environment designers. I've done a bit with the NWN version of the Aurora engine, and what you have here is so spectacularly better that it's hard to believe that there's anything of the same engine underneath. The environments just work so beautifully, are so believable - and the lighting effects, especially sunrise and sunset... Wonderful. But even among wonderful things there can be favourites.1: Lakeside. Idyllic, beautiful.2: The Temple quarter. A stunning realisation of a medieval city. You can almost smell it!3: Kaer Morhen. I'd have liked more time to explore4: The Swamp (chapter 2/chapter 3)5: Old Vizima. Actually that would be higher up my list if we'd got to see it before it was trashed.Favourite sign1: Aard. Generally useful, easy to use, reliable.2: Igni. Saves you having to haul loads of flint around.3: Quen. Useful for getting your breath back in a fight, taking a potion, changing swordsFavourite finisherOh, gosh, so many!1: Jump on shoulders, stab down, jump off2: Cut throat from behind3: All the rest...Favourite sword fighting style1: Group Silver2: Fast SilverFavourite potion1: I use a lot of Wolverine; I like it, and it's long lasting. Before a big fight, take wolverine then meditate for an hour - all poison out of your system, but you still have enhanced fighting ability for five hours (this trick works with Cat, too)2: Swallow is useful if fighting anything tough, or where there's a lot of fighting to do before you can take a break.3: Plenty of Cat is vital, for night work and for crypts.4: White Honey is good for when you've overdone it with the others5: Wive's Tears is good for when you've overdone it with Zoltan/Dandelion

Favourite cutscene:When Lady of the night sends her 3 daughters at Geralt. (Hey, what can I say? ... I'm Irish? No that's not right... I'm a vampire :p ... at least when I use this nickname...)Favourite character:The friendly Voydanoi priest.Favourite quote(s):"A witcher! Hide your women!""Does royalty sell 'Royal strong ale'?"Favourite quest:Im not sure which one to pick here, there are many good ones!Favourite monster:Royal Wyverns. Easier to kill than regular wyverns! (Strongstyle for the win :p)Favourite location:The Inn's.Favourite sign:Aard is used quite a lot, but I found Yrden very helpful at desperate times so I'm gonna go with Yrden!Favourite finisher:The one were he jumps to the opponent's shoulders ad thrusts the sword down.Favourite sword fighting style:Strong style for the damage. I can't say I prefer silver over steel or steel over silver they are both equally good against their share of enemies.Favourite potion:White Rafford's Decotion based on Rubedo! (Instant heal + heal over time = wicked! What more is needed?)Favourite sword:Gwalhir. I wish I could have dual-wielded two of these!

Favourite cutscene
  • Abigail and the angry mob (this is probably one of the best parts in the game)
  • Shani's party (when Shani gets jealous about Carmen)But the cutscenes were all great and they are definitely a strength of The Witcher. I like the DOF effect and the movie-ish feeling.
Favourite character
  • Geralt
  • Lady of the Lake
  • Triss
  • Abigail
  • Resolute "I know everything" GirlTough choice. I realy like them all in their own way. Another strength of this game.
Favourite quote
  • "A witcher! Hide your women!" and "Your momma sucks dwarf cocks"
  • when Geralt responds to Zahin Schmartz: "Geralt, witcher, immun to diseases.".. and dozens of other great quotes i don't recall right now.
Favourite quest
  • Vizima ConfidentialI like the freedom that lets yourself decide who's guilty and the whole turnround when you find the dead detective. Also nice was the poetry to free Alina the noonwraith. I always picked the wrong word for the verse ending. It was so funny how Dandelion apologises for his dumb friend
Favourite monster
  • Koschey
  • ZeuglBut surely not drowners :D
Favourite location
  • Temple Quarter for it's atmosphere (also my favourite music there: "An Ominous Place")
  • Lakeside and The Fields for the great look
Favourite sign
  • IgniCertanly overpowered but too funny to collect a bunch of monsters and burn them away.I also used Aard and sometimes Quen. Yrden didn't fit my playing style and Hex was just unnecessary.
Favourite finisher
  • Decapitate a stunned foeWell, for the first time the finishers looked cool but in the end I realy didn't care. They feel a bit too "scripted". All the enemies around just wait for you to finish the animation.
Favourite sword fighting style
  • Fast styleIn my opinion that fits the light armored and agile witcher best. The strong style looks more like a warrior to me.
Favourite potion
  • Blizzard for it's cool effectMost used potions are Swallow and Cat (I dislike the circular effect from Cat).

Favourite cutsceneThe intro and the outro were of an amazing quality. Of the ingame cutscenes, there are many really good ones, but my favourite three are 1.) Geralt's defense of Abigail against the villagers2.) Vincent's first appearance as a werewolf3.) The Order's ambush on Murky Waters. I was grinning from ear to ear seing that one, because the usual clichée is that Elves are those master trackers with sharpened senses, and there you had those guys in chainmail and plate sneaking up on them, owning them. That was really nice.Favourite characterKalkstein, Siegfried, Alvinn (Jaques de Alderberg)Favourite quoteToo many good ones, but the ones with the hermit about "Bronze Dan" are hilarious.Favourite questMost were rather good, but I liked the ones in the swamp the least.Favourite monsterThe Demon Hound in the first act.Favourite locationThe fields in Murky Waters. That was a really creepy atmosphere there, very well done. The cemetary in Vizima was also nicely done.Favourite signAt first I used Igni most the time, but at the end of the game my preference had shifted towards Aard.Favourite finisher-Favourite sword fighting styleGroup SilverFavourite potionSwallow, Blizzard
