Yeah played Sleeping Dogs too. The melee was nice even though most enemies tended to wait for their turn to get beating. In my opinion they should have just all jumped on Wei ;) Too bad the developer dropped the ball when it comes to freely regonfiguring your keyboard, so I had to play it with gamepad. So obviously I just remember horrible shooting mechanics because of my unexisting aim skill with pad :p

I agree that you can deliver that kind of combat only with 3rd person view. But I'd still prefer 1st person even with bit crappier close combat.

I have to say, though, as fun (and good looking) as the HtH combat in Sleeping Dogs was at first, it got tiresome and repetitive pretty fast too.

A different type of combo mechanic and more toys will add greatly to the depth of melee in CP 2077. And we should have plenty of toys to cope in group melee. I do however feel it should be brutally difficult and only for limited situations - at least until you level up and you can toss tech-bolos, have a grapple arm, shoot constricting mylar webs and emit concentrated blasts of air from a forearm mounted gun.

Why 3rd person?

Because

I want to see my character dancing in the H.H. clubs with honeys :p and provoke fights in clubs till the cops come and try to arrest me

I want to see how will affect how the cars hit my character when I am running away from the police and my body felt in the ground.

I want to see my character jump or try to go true a window when I am hiding because I just hit a pimp in the street.

I want to see my character jump from one roof to the next one.

I want to see my character climb the walls of that trailer building when I saw the bullets flying.

I want to see how the people in the street react when I rub pass them.

I want to see how my character clothes looks if I am bleeding the gasoline I have in my tech body or blood if I am human.

I want to see how my characters clothes get wet for the rain falling in the cold night of N.C.

I want to see my character smoking, Drinking..etc

THE GAMES ARE BETTER IN TPP only real life is better in FPP

I don't know. I've always been unkeen about combos anywhere but in Tekken and the sort.

I don't really care for "brutal" difficulties, there should be such, yes (I would try it), but I'd like the system be more stat driven (it's an RPG, afterall) - if not turnbased (which it won't be in 99% certainty), take The Witcher for an example for the control scheme, but ditch the "time combos" and allow the character fail (more often) and succeed with the blows through his aptitude that you, the player, have built for him. Let him be interrupted, let him be blocked, let him fail (critically even) regardless of when you press a button.

Jesus, I hate to be the guy that disagrees with almost everyone about almost everything (when it comes to current day cRPG's). :D

So totally this. Only swap airgun for flamethrower or multi-missile launcher.

I can't find anything here I disagree with... even though I kind of want to... just for general principle...

I know, right? Whenever Prospect writes something, regardless of content I just want to scream, "GRAMMAR! DO YOU SPEAK IT?!"

Still, he's right-on about all that. Im almost convinced.

Then I remember Stalker and Deus Ex and Far Cry and decide he smokes the mad weed.

I like Bethesda's model of doing it first and third person (ala Fallout and Skyrim). Although the third person in their games isn't great, it nice to have the option.

Personally I prefer third person so given the option I would go for that.

Deus Ex HR style, melee, sneaking would be in 3rd, but the shooting and exploration in 1st.

Need to have both perspectives, otherwise, how would you use the enhanced eyes cyberwares?

Umm, it would just change the whole view? No matter if in TPP or FPP.

Yeah, but in TPS, that would look kind of weird, wouldn't it? In fact, now I think of it, enhanced vision, crosshairs, Time Square Marque, Biomonitor readouts, all that HUD stuff..that's all kind of..odd..in third person. Like, how am I watching myself?

SPOOKY.

But it's like that in every TPP game and people seem to accept it.

It's.. not spooky at all? Really, that seems like a fairly grasping bit of reasoning to me. Hell, the upcoming game Watch Dogs is in third-person, and it has prompts and HUDs galore. Doesn't look off to me in the slightest - or anyone else, for that matter.

i absolutely cant stand first Person; its totally disorienting when trying to move, jump, ect. sadly the only game to ever get FP movement right was Metroid Prime... the only time i use it is when im forced, if "Deus Ex : HR" wasnt such an awesome game id hate its FP control, actually i do hate it, i often wish that i could go into Third Person so i can see whats going on around me... i cant stand being locked into tunnel vision, without peripheral vision FP just does not work, way too clumsy and way to easy to get blindsided or miss your jumps...

Actually it’s easy to argue with that. After all, such unrealistic features can ruin one’s immersion.

Comments like this always make me chuckle. yeah, unrealistic 3rd person view... because 1st person view is so "realistic", as I in every day life;
* walk/run with both my arms extended with my hands in front of my face.
* don't swing my arms while walking
* walk around wearing blinders
* hold and shoot my handguns with one hand, again, arm always extended in front of me.
* hold my guns and shoot with them at a 45 degree angle in perspective to my body, yet the bullets shoot strait in front of me.
* when I aim down my sights, I bring the gun right up to my face, positioning my sights right in front of my nose.
* my head bobbles in a wavy motion when I run.
* if I wield a shield and sword, both of them will be right in front of me at all times, and obviously the hilt will be at eye level

Yep, 1st person is very "realistic" indeed.

On topic,
my preference is 3rd person view, but I would like to be able to zoom further out at all times, like the combat camera in Witcher 2, maybe a bit more. Not only because of the customization of my toon, but because a wider view lets me enjoy the world the devs created. My second runs in games are always at its lowest difficulty, even god mode if i can get it, so I can get to enjoy the game world, i can get next to monsters and be able to really look at the work put into the models while they are whacking me and i don't have to dodge them, etc.

1st person done well is pretty immersive- Far Cry 3 avoids quite a few of the pitfalls SS7 mentions. And for the failures you list, 3rd person is utterly, totally unbelievable.

The lack of peripherals is a pain, no argument. I too hate that. Or I did, until I ran at 4720 x 1600 with a nice PoV. Voila, peripheral vision on my left and right monitors. Only works if you set it up though.

For me the worst FPP is driving a car. Ugh. Driving in TPP is silly, but in FPP it's maddening.
