I can't see how a game featuring guns heavily can be 3rd person and feel good.

First person with body awareness (think ArmA2) combined with the Oculus Rift would be amazing.

Its going to have melee combat. I don't wanna fight in first person.

"The teaser really feels like what we are working on. If you are thinking about the presence of melee combat, yes, we will have those cool arm implants."

I'm also in support of the third person perspective, but I didn't even think it was an issue since one, the first two Witcher games were third person, and two, there's a character creator, and it's kind of a pointless feature if you can't see your character.

It will be great if they allow us to change perspective between 1st person\3rd person like it was in VtM:B. Only one thing that should not be apply is the 2nd person, when camera very close to the shoulder like in modern TPS

I'd prefer first person view and turn it into FPS/RPG like Deus Ex/Borderlands. I can accept third person view over the shoulder like Resident Evil or Witcher however though I would prefer first person view first. Meelee can be done in first person, I didn't have a problem with it in previous games. I think first person's slightly more realistic and immersive.

I couldn't agree more. I like switching viewpoints in games like Skyrim, although I favour 3rd person because 1. I like seeing my character, especially in games that allow heavy customisation 2. first person makes me motion-sick in some cases and that's never fun.

I'd also like it to be third person with first person perspective as an option. With Bethesda games I tend to switch back and forth.
I spend a lot of time on character creation when a game provides that feature and I love being able to view my character in game.

Yep I think it's best to allow switching first/third with a button press. Should satisfy everyone.

3rd person for hand-to-hand combat, and exploring.

1st person for sighting down gun sights, and option for vehicle driving.

I really want a 3rd person camera but more cinematic and character offset to left or right of the screen and a little shake cam like GTA.

My preference of perspective (and character control scheme) would be that of The Witcher 1. But modified so that you can switch between first person--over the shoulder---top down/ISO. Being able to play the game with the "point'n click" method (this would also help making the game feel more like an RPG in combat as you'd just be choosing the target and when to pull the trigger and have your character perform the way you've built him).

I think it's pretty much sure, there will be a TPP view, at least as the main one. I just wonder, will the shooting be more like run and shoot like in old shooters, or more like Gears Of War - eternal sticking to the wall. The second one would be more probable if there was a posibility of playing the game in a stealth way. It's easier to watch enemies while TPP view and sticked to a tall object :)

I don't see a reason to limit to either TPP or FPP. They actually should do both options.

FPP is:.
► the best way to go for games including fire-arms. There's no real sens in discussing this IMO.
► the most immersive. Especially if you'll see your own body when looking and interacting with the world and objects. This I really really would love to see this happen for this game.

TPP is:
► the only way to make a cover system work. I'd hope to see a cover system as good as the one in R6:Vegas or at least DX:HR.
► the better way to make melee combat, as you get a better feel for your character location versus the enemy.
► a way that enables you to glare at your character and enjoy the customization you've applied.

Having this few simple things in mind, as I said at the beginning, I'd like to have both FPP & TPP included in this game.

Last part on making a cover system work is for only having it in third person I have to disagree. I would like to have a bit of a challenge seeing what's going on in cover and be forced to have to look up once in a while. In third person to cheapens it by pre-aiming your target reticule before going up to attack. Now game being in the cyberpunk genre a highly argument human could his abilities to see through a wall.

Matter of taste. I enjoy more third person shooters over first person shooters.

I think it should be first or third but not both, at least in combat. Reason for this is simple, in first person you can't really do advance melee attacks, just couple basics attacks. Even if you do third person with an option to change into 1st person, that option would limit your possibilities in melee. In other words you can do great things with 1st person or great things with 3rd person. If you want to do both you will have to compromise. SO you do one of them, My personal preference is 3rd person.

By the way, i think in november, studio head said they still haven't decided witch perspective to chose.

Why? This is true for FPS games but not RPG games. This game will not be the shooter. Anyway Max Payne 3 is perfect example how great the 3rd person perspective can be even in a shooter.
