Third person is the way to go even though I like first person too. Since human augmentation will be a big theme in the game, characters who are heavily augmented shouldn't move like a normal human and in a third person pov it's easier to make someone more agile, able to climb or run on walls etc. I'm not saying it should be prince of persia or something like that but I find the first person view too static at times.

It should be a isometric perspective with the ability to zoom into combat. Like Fallout or xcom.

A third person character perspective would be great, with an option to switch into a first person view while in your vehicle. Now that's sweet.

Definitely this. A cockpit view inside a car would be awesome!

I feel more in control of the character in a Third Person view. Games like Uncharted or Max Payne. I also only play Skyrim in the 3rd person.

Yes, playing in third person gives you the having more control feel. And it would be safe to say third person might be the only view, good chances for that

The platform people come from - whether they're strictly console gamers or strictly PC gamers - could have a big influence on what the preferred view is.

Also, I suppose it takes someone with a hard core FPS background to truly feel at home with the FPS view, even to the extent where the third person view seems unreal. It does to me. I feel at home looking through the eyes of the character. Having the camera several meters above the character feels like cheating to me, since then I can see farther and above obstacles, and I can see to the sides and behind me, which I can't with an FPS FoV.

Still, I do admit the game shouldn't be strictly FPS, because then nobody would play it. Strictly third person would to me make it feel a bit "cheap" and like a console game, though.

Sorry, but saying that nobody would play a game if it would be FPP or that game would look cheap if it would be TPP, is stupid. TW2 doesn't look cheap at all and saying that TPP is consolish perspective is rubbish (fun fact - FPP games have better sales on consoles than on PC). I'm core PC player and I like more TPP games than I like FPP games, but I like both perspectives and I will play this game no matter what perspective it will have.

I hope in a solution such as Deus EX: Human Revolution.

Well, "nobody would play it" reflected the poll in this thread, and obviously I wasn't being serious. Look at the numbers though; almost 60% would prefer a strictly third person game. How many of those would choose not to play if it was a strictly first person game?

As for third person feeling like a console game, it does to me. Perhaps because I come from playing a ton of FPS games 10-15 years ago, back when PC's had no "third person shooters", and the third person games were something like Tomb Raider. Not exactly a shooter. Consoles on the other hand had and have had since, a lot of third person action. Back when Halo came out (the first one), I can't remember hearing anyone saying how they love playing an FPS on a pad. The whole concept of FPS on a pad had to mature first, but by then FPS on a PC was already a thing. That's one of the reasons why I think of FPS as a PC thing. Also, stuff like KotOR was almost ruined because of it being designed to be run by consoles using a pad, making it hideous to play on a PC.

If it feels like consoles to me, or looks cheap to me, then that's exactly what it does, whether you personally think it's "stupid" or "rubbish". You're entitled to your opinion, though. As am I.

Sorry, I didn't want to attack you. I shouldn't use words like I used and also I didn't spot that you used words "for me". I'm just way overanxious when I hear people saying about consolization of games. I feel like this term is way overused.

Third-person perspective is the only possible way I can imagine playing this game.

For the sake of immersion, i prefer 1st person, like in the style of Deus Ex - makes it feel like you are really part of the experience.

Actually, I remember people distinctively saying that finally, they did FPS right on a console/gamepad. But that's beside the point since this is going to be an RPG, not a FPS.

I think it'd be interesting if general gameplay was in third-person, but braindances were in first-person. I find it easier to maneuver around and know where my character is relative to the world with TPP, but FPP tends to feel more "immersive."

Yeah, people definitely did say Halo finally did FPS good on a pad, but I still can't remember hearing anyone say they loved playing it on a pad. I suppose that's mainly because people I spoke to were PC gamers, not console gamers.

In any case, Skyrim can be played as an FPS (the only way I play it, whether melee, caster or archer), it's an RPG, and it even has a third person view. Sure, it feels clunkier than a pure FPS, but it works as such just fine. Meaning, you can have first person, third person and RPG in the same game.

I think overall the view should be in third person but for combat with some range weapons, sure first person can exist too.

Third person view suits me best. I don't have anything particular against first person but I voted for first option. Why not vote for both? Because I want one perspective polished to the highest level. When we go for compromises, there are always some glitches.

Third-Person for me, thanks.
