Well, you might want to sit down for this bit of info...

Remember to breathe BPG ! ;)

I am going to assume that BPG stands for Big Pecker Genitalia, as I've had a hard on for multiple currency a long time. :harhar:

So it's verified then? Good grief...

I hate google translate but this info was churned out regarding the matter:

"We have a few in-game currency. The main currency - Novigrad crown. They are accepted everywhere. In addition, there is the currency of the second order - temerskie oreny, had circulated in the previous parts, and nilfgaardskie flora. After the conquest of the former Temerov Nilfgaardom, some traders refuse to accept oreny, preferring to trade for flora. To avoid problems with a variety of currencies, Geralt can collect them, and then, once in Novigrad, exchange [for the crown] bank Vivaldi, mentioned in the book. Thus, the economic system we got a really complicated and, at the same time, quite realistic."

Yeah...I'm sitting down, and thinking of all the discussions I've had and requests I've made. Did we make an impact I wonder, or was it always meant to be implemented?

With edibles being verified a while back I am fully at peace now.

I wonder if @Marcin Momot could verify this and at the same time answer my question: How long have you devs planned this? From the start or were you influenced by the community? ;)

Yeah, I'm hunting for credit. ^_^

Love you devs!

He would say that wouldn't he? ^_^

Though if Orens aren't as good as Crown, I wonder what he would do to anyone trying to give him Florens.

A severe tongue lashing or beaten to a pulp, depending on North-South accent. Anyone trying to pass off a "credit note" would be scorned, defenestrated, and beaten to a pulp regardless whether they are longitudinally challenged or not.

Personally, I wouldn't try it ;)

I think yes. Imagine that you are heading to Novigrad with your hard earned orens to exchange to crowns and you will be annoyed how much lesser you get for that.

From this interview
Edit: there is already a full translation

Q:You mentioned the opportunity to bargain. Please tell us in detail about the economic system in the game. I understand that it will be more difficult than in previous installments?

A:In The Witcher 3, there are several regions, each with its own economy. You, if you wish, you can engage in trade and make money by delivering certain goods from one region to another. In No man's land, in Velen, people are very poor and starving. If you'll buy food some where else and bring it there, you'll get good revenue. Also, some dealers are willing to pay you more for certain goods. For example, smiths will get you a higher price for the metal than other traders.

In some cases, Geralt will be able to influence the state of the local economy. For example, vicinity of villages inhabited by a monster who terrorizes the village. If witcher kill the beast, then he subsequently able to buy goods from local merchants at lower prices, because the destruction of the creature made roads safer, and trade - alive. And easier for you to travel as well.

We have a few in-game currency. The main currency - Novigrad crown. They are accepted everywhere. In addition, there is the currency of the second order -Temerian oren, had circulated in the previous parts, and Nilfgaaridan florins. After the conquest of the former of Temeria by Niilfgaard, some traders refuse to accept orens, preferring to trade for florins. To avoid problems with a variety of currencies, Geralt can collect them, and then, once in Novigrad, exchange [for the crown] in Vivaldi bank, mentioned in the book. Thus, the economic system we got a really complicated and, at the same time, quite realistic.

Q:Will we be able to have deposits in banks of Novigrad?

A:As I recall, this option, as deposits, the game is not available, but will be able to borrow from the bank, and then use the money to buy something.

Q:An analogue of the credit card?

A:Yes. Why not? [to call it so]

Q:What about interest?

A:Well, first you have to pay previously received credit before taking the next.

I wonder if Vivaldi's bank is ever going to collect the interest on that little loan from act II in Assassins of Kings. (In Vergen, if you sided with Jorveth, and helped Vivaldi in the first Witcher.)

Well, well, then Vivaldi is likely to collect on that loan from the Vergen agent, after all. I wonder how much interest we'll have to pay. . . .

I would like to know would Temerian Orens and Nilfgaardian Florins have significant value under peculiar circumstances, where they would be more precious than Novigradian Crowns? Or are they "item that could be changed into money" for most time, which would be a fancy waste?

I think you can buy stuff with Florins in No Man's Land, Orens in some parts of.. I actually dunno where but it would have to be somewhere and Novigradian Crowns everywhere. It's just more convenient if you're travelling loads in particular areas to use Crowns. I really do believe that Florins and Orens are still currency items and not "junk".

Depends on the extent of your credit line.

Value of money could also vary depending on war, for example if Nilfgard win some battle, floren could be stronger than oren, or vice versa. Than there is Geralt who could make some choice that can lead to Nordling victories and getting orens stronger (of course, that will happen when Geralt is full of orens) :D

Metal Gear Solid 4 style, huh?

So far we know that some of our minor actions in the game world will somewhat affect economy of the nearest towns, like seeing merchant being robbed and letting him die make the prices grow or clearing the road by killing all the monsters around will make stuff cheaper. If that's the case, it's possible that even some bigger choices may affect it.
