Include a way to fill in information about previous games without save.

It would be nice if we had a way to enter what choices we made in the previous games in TW3 if we lost the previous game saves.

Or for console, where the saves won't carry over (just presuming here.

Preferably without an unskippable cut-scene. I hate that.

It is expected the game to allow you to import saves.
Still considering the number of permutations and choices.... and the fact that I played it three time and only have 1 set of savegames  - definetly don't have the time to do it again.
Any chance for a comic - something like mass effect 2 had to establish end choices, whether or not village was distroyed etc....

pretty please !!!!

Well, either they make a canon beginning just like in TW2 or they have to make something like a comic.

The PS4/Nextbox doesn't have the predecessors and therefore no available savegames, so they have to figure out how they implement your choices, if you played e.g. the 360 version and want to port your decisions.

There was another thread concerning the same topic and the idea there was that RED should implement a short synopsis with choices to make, like the comic book from ME2, in order to bring newcomers up to speed on what's going on while at the same time offering an "import your saves" like feature to old players.

Not a bad idea. Could work.

Honestly, this should be a standard feature in every sequel game where you had choices that affected the game.

Certainly an idea worth exploring I think.

I agree, a comic is a good idea. With PC transfer is easy, but people who play on xbox 360 may have problems transferring saves onto a nextbox, and ps4 gamers will have no option at all. Actually, I even think this approach is necessary, because I see no way to figure out what state of the north may be a default one, unless it is done completely arbitrarily.

They did interactive comics before for the ipad and iphone so they'd probably kick the ME2 comics ass.

It would also help replay, as I would play w3 several times with a different start, even with choices I haven't made for w2, just to see what happens,
but couldn't afford the time for a whole series replay , especialy since by now I probably memorised it :)

I'm going to take a Devils Advocate position on this one, since I don't really care either way, and habitually keep end-saves from my favourite games.

CDPR announced they would be advertising for TW3 differently than previously, lets face it - primarily to reach a wider audience, people who perhaps haven't played the first 2 games, with the consequence of hopefully selling more editions of them.

If an option to pick through the various choices is supplied, this could lessen the desire of new players to investigate the older games, and would certainly ruin any playthrough by self-spoiling.

I want CDPR to make as much money as possible, they deserve it for their excellent treatment of us, the gamers. I don't want them to shoot themselves in the foot. Plus, TW1 & TW2 will remain highly playable games for years to come.

Note: I have and used my original TW1 Yaevinn / Shani save, which I incorporated into all 3 of my TW2 playthroughs whose end saves I also keep, and am anticipating a further playthrough of both games ala Siegfried / Triss --> Roche for a fully human-centric Geralt end-save to incorporate into TW3, hopefully giving me a good basis for role-playing Geralt differently, depending on my mood.

p.s. TW1 is a long game to play, but TW2 is very short (my sole gripe with the game, soon to be cured by the redkit). And TW1's choices don't matter as much as you'd like when incorporated into TW2.

Kudos: PC players already have the option of downloading saves from this site so that's not the concern here.

The concern is with console players, since W3 will not be on current gen consoles it means you won't be able to import saves from 360 to 720, and it would be a kick in the teeth for 360 players to not able to take their choices in the next game.

Oh well in that case fine. I don't know or care about consoles, and have to restrain myself from hating them for the detrimental effect they have had on the technological advancement / uptake of games for the last decade.

btw: the OP said he had lost his save games.... that implies PC then.

considering the sheer number of posible choises if the option to import from TW 1&2 WILL truly come to the game the option for chosing in a presetup choises made in previows games becomes a mandatory feature. TW2 had 16 different endings and the choises from the First game, you have well over 60 posibilities
TW1 CHOISES - save Abigail vs give her up
Shani vs Triss
pro human vs nonhuman vs neutral
KILL Vincent vs cure vs still Werewolf
save Adda vs kill her
kill Berengar vs spare him
Grand masters soul

Well, they said that the decisions that will carry on from the imported saves won't be very significant and won't affect the big picture very much. They will mainly be small things that remind you of your previous choices.

If you can't/don't import, the choices could probably be implemented as part of a summary of the story from the previous games. But I don't think the story will have many connections to the previous games, just like in the transition from TW1 to TW2.

CDPR like having the games be separate experiences so you can enjoy one without having played the other, and this is an especially important thing to consider because of the release on totally new consoles. The vast majority of console players won't have played any of the previous games and on PC, there will surely be many newcomers to the franchise. Explaining the story so far in detail would probably be pointless because it is so complex and branching(!), the players won't understand it or remember anything. I don't even see how you could explain the plot in a concise and understandable manner. Furthermore, taking the decisions out of the game would be wrong because you can never get the same perspective if you don't experience it for yourself. The "moral grays" can in no way be presented within short summaries and the like.

As much as I don't like saying this, it would simply be a very bad idea to have any complex summary that incorporates making choices from the previous games.

Uh, sauce? Where was this said?

Regarding new games: I like the idea of having a pre-setup like in ME, but it shouldn't be necessary for players to HAVE to use it.

The problem with pre-setups is that they ruin the previous games for the new player, and also the idea of bombarding a new player with information right away and expecting them to make decisions half-blind which will impact 100+ hours of game play is impractical and undesirable. If I was a new player to TW3, I wouldn't want to experience that.

It would be nice to have a pre-setup, save import, AND a default storyline (the Dev's choose a set of pre-setup decisions for you). Not every new player will care about the decisions, and might just want to get into the game right away.

Expecting them to sit there and read information to make decisions, or force them to research previous game info, is going to be a turn off.
