[INDIE SUPPORT] P.A.M.E.L.A a successor to System Shock? Only time will tell

Hello folks I'm opening this thread to bring to your attention this new game that is developed by a small indie studio (NYVE Studios) from Canada. The game is called PAMELA and it is an first person action based survival horror with RPG elements set in a sci-fi dystopian future. It's similar to System Shock and if done right it could become the successor of that beloved series.

The studio needs your support so if you can greenlight the game on Steam and put a like in their FB page.

Interesting, but some stuff isn't clear. Do they plan a Linux release? They mention "PC" which is ambiguous as usual. Will they release on GOG (DRM-free)? If yes for both, I'll support them. Also, I'm not sure whether they plan a crowdfunding campaign or not.

Well they have a FAQ on their website.

It seems that those questions aren't still set in stone as the game is still in development what we know is that they plan to release it on PC for now but they said they consider other alternatives an option.
Not sure if they are going to release it on GOG they are a small indie studios it's really depending on the opportunities they have. It would be great to see it on GOG. Maybe they will who knows. It doesn't seem to be crowfunding project for now. We will see I think it's rather early in development to have these questions set in stone.

They have a blog with devs notes on it.

Well they seems cool guys they also answer on your comments in YT and FB so we shall see. Hope they are going to deliver.

SOMA is the successor to system shock

It would have been had it actually had gameplay. SOMA is just a walking simulator. A very well done walking simulator but still a walking simulator. I would have wanted to see careful resource management, finding weapons in hidden areas leveling up skills to unlock new gameplay and exploration opportunities...SOMA is a very compelling but ultimately unexciting game, it feels unfinished.

I am hoping PAMELA will be different but matching the raw atmosphere of SOMA is going to be incredibly hard.

you're right about skills, points, resources, etc,
but SOMA is perfectly finished, for th story it's the most important, and if you complete soma, you'll realise what i'm talking about ;)
i also have big expectations about P.A.M.E.L.A. no doubt it'll be awesome and have great gameplay and atmosphere, the setting is also different, is more colourful and futuristic, yet soma is creepier and dark cyber-psycological-horror

SOMA is the successor to system shock

Well I disagree on SOMA being the successor of System Shock because it lacks a sort of RPG style development of your character skills that System Shock had, it also lacked a proper inventory and better combat that SS2 had. Although SOMA is a great game I would find it closer to Amnesia type game rather than System Shock.

I do agree that the SOMA feeling and atmosphere were really nice!
