Infinite loading screen issue

So i bought myself the witcher: EE the other day, because i had heard it was a video game classic. i thought what the heck, its a good purchase. i venture in outskirts and towards the end of the chapter, around when you go to the salamanders hideout. as i travel down the hatch that leads to the cellar. i load. and i load and i load and i load.
so much in fact that its impossible to venture on. ive tried patching it to 1.5. ive tried updating my drivers. ive tried changing around my graphics settings. ive tried installign the EE upgrade.

Any tips guys? I'd really appreciate it as i love this game.

Thanks in advance.

If you`re interested in keeping your game saves then back them up to another folder and delete all but 3 or 4 and see if it loads any faster .

It sounds to me as if the saved game you're trying to load is glitched. Try loading a different save and advance to the same point.

Here's a saved game from the same point in the game: http://www.mediafire.com/?ljasuaxol7s6i92

Download that (and unzip it and take it out of the folder) and load it and see if you can enter with that game. If you can, then the problem is a glitch in your saved game that occurred sometime earlier -- before the saves you've been trying to load. If you can't load this game, then the problem is with your game installation.

If the problem is with your game installation, uninstall the game. Redeem your GOG backup copy here using the product key that came with the game you bought. Download the GOG version of the game, which is fully patched and up to date. Install THAT version of the game.

Wait. Now it told me that your save game was corrupt!
So i tried to patch up my game, because i thought that might be the root. but then it sait it couldnt verify my version. so im just going to reinstall the entire game and then patch it up

I just downloaded it and started it with the game, to make sure that it hadn't gotten corrupted during the uploading process, and it worked fine.

I really recommend that you redeem your GOG back-up copy. That copy is fully patched and up to date, and if there's something wrong with your current copy, the GOG copy could be invaluable.

Allright i did what you said. got the backup copy. now everything works perfectly. apparently it was only the game that was faulty not the save. Thanks ALOT for the help!!! i realy appreciate the quick response and how helpful the tech community is around here. Really looking forward to buying ALL the games in the witcher series now!!!
