Infuriating throwing knife ADS delay after 2.3

+
PLEASE tell me this is a problem everyone is having. I've only encountered one other person who announced they had it too so far (didn't ask, he said he had this problem and so do I). My last playthrough was my first throwing knife build and I loved it. So much I'm just dinkin around all together now but keep one axe. I loved popping sandy, pulling out axe/knife, and throwing it at nades in the air enemies would throw. Now? Literally impossible with a full TWO SECOND (or longer) delay before you even can prime it for throwing (ADS). Before the switch to the axe/knife and prepped to throw all happened in less than one second. Now it's a full 2 seconds or more. Worse is doing it while Apogee is on because the length of Apogee is shorter than Falcon. Not having sandy on at all it still has a delay that was not there before.

I didn't see anywhere in patch notes that it is now confirmed linked to 'aim speed' in stat modifiers for cyberware. I did a re-roll for a while before while doing throwing knife build play and had 40% faster aim speed to see if that and weapon handling would super quick swap and I could pretty much instantly back to back throw them. Zero difference. If that is the case now it would be nice to know. If it was not intended and other's are experiencing it........ CDPR PLEASE FIX THAT DELAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Replying to myself here but a gentle 'stab' at other players, lol. I find it hilarious atm 111 people have seen this and not a single reply "ya I'm experiencing this too since 2.3". I know for a fact others are because I've seen some on YT bring it up themselves without being asked. People are so obsessed with how "OP" and "Broken" netrunning is because it makes "very hard become easy mode" that they wont even discover this huge problem for a throwing knife build. There still is no delay at all with no time slows on, but falcon and apogee there is a new delay and it's ridiculous :( Already contacted tech support about it which I'm sure will take a while to get a response. I timed them and made a YT video that is unlisted for them to watch. Pre-2.3 ZERO delay for either sandevistans. After 2.3, Falcon has a 2 second delay SWITCHING TO any throwable and being able to throw it with falcon already on. After 2.3, Apogee has a FOUR second delay SWITCHING TO any throwable and being able to throw it with apogee already on. They did an incredible job of thinking about tons of tiny and obvious details. It makes no sense this would be on purpose because headshots is main point of throwing anything and apogee gives 20% headshot damage....... so this new delay HAS to be an accident right?

Poopy thing is CDPR (at least for this game) is not known to release mini fix patches AFTER dropping large patches that might happen to screw something up that was working just fine before. Would be amazing to have a ton of ppl in the community share this complaint with them too but apparently netrunning is just too hard to get away from to try something new or challenge themselves to a harder playstyle. Don't @ me! lol. I don't need time slows at all. I already handled smasher and 15 maxtacs in the badlands with Chrome Compressor throwing knife play builds. Apogee is just very cinematic :)

People around here tend not to respond if they don't have anything to contribute. The knife throwing issue has been brought up in a couple of different threads on Patch 2.3. Personally, I haven't had any issues at all with it. I don't treat throwing knives as automatic weapons, expecting to let one fly every half second or so. I treat them as special situation stealth weapons, and in my play style I haven't noticed anything different post 2.3. I don't doubt that some people are having issues with it, but I'm not one of them.

Thank you for saying that and commenting at all, I'm still kinda new here but not to the game. After finishing my throwing knife build (all 3 weapons were throwables) I actually do what you are doing. I keep just one throwable with 2 other main weapons I'm using. I like to farm for weapons to sell or disassemble and have a couple of solid routes that I do where I know exactly where multiple groups are. Some groups are 2 near me and one in a distance. So I'll use my close range weapon for the 2 near me and quick swap to axe/knife and throw it at far enemy. This is when I first noticed this problem is I want the far enemy to stay put so I'll pop sandy THEN switch to the throwable with sandy already on and there is a delay that was never there before. IDK how you use your 'special situation' throwable, but try it with sandy already on and switch to it (don't already have it out). With Falcon already on the new delay is about 2 seconds, spamming ads or press and wait for it to prime to throw. With apogee it's infuriatingly longer, lol. Prior to 2.3 sandy on or off switching to any throwable there was no delay at all. Switch to and press ADS button once and it is primed to throw right away. Now, whether spamming ADS or just holding it, there is a wait time. I know we are only talking a few seconds here, but there was no delay at all before. I may only have one throwable when I farm, but I have a specific pattern to my kills that I do to make farming as fast as I can and this new delay, well, I've said it enough, it's super annoying lol.

IDK if you want to try this exact explanation because it would seem I'm one of the few who NOTICED it, not necessarily only one experiencing it because maybe only a handful of players do this exact order. I don't mind sending the unlisted link I sent to CDPR (still waiting on response), but that shows the exact problem. That it was NOT there before, and is there now. Before I would switch to and press once and it's ready...

Anyone noticing this, please, send this into CDPR Support directly if you haven't. The more reports they get from different players, the better.
^ That's for the PC version -- be sure to switch to the correct platform (Xbox, Playstation, etc.)

On the issue, the video makes it clear. I'm not sure if it's an intended change or not, but I would imagine not. Don't see much of a reason to add a big delay like that -- especially if you're supposed to be moving with insane speed. Likely that there's a simple typo in the code somewhere.

Also, and important note:
0.) Are you using any mods, or did you ever use any in the past?

This is an issue that could be the result of a mod that attempted to tweak combat, even if not directly affecting throwing. Just confirming that the issue is appearing in 100% vanilla playthrough that has never been modded in the past.

I hard agree it feels like an accidental change. I cannot fathom a reason to add it for 'realism' or anything else. And I have moral qualms against using mods (for myself, I understand why others use them) so no, I have never used mods and have no intention on it, always vanilla.

Yeah, I can't imagine why they would do that intentionally. Even watching it feels awkward. My guess is that it's either a glitch or something caused by mods / removed mods.

It is still possible to do use knives with a similar speed to before, but it takes a lot more manual clicking. Basically you need to release aim button, switch to a knife manually, then reengage aim button. So it's obviously a switching bug and not ADS delay nerf.
But I'm talking without Sandevistan or anything, just fresh characters with knives, because everyone experiences this bug.

Still not fixed...what the heck is going on. This is one of the best builds and one of the most unique gameplays of a FP RPG I have played but it's broken for months now on PC.

Still not fixed. I had to switch to a Falcon sandy to have time to ready the next throwing weapon since it randomly takes two seconds just to ready it. 10 seconds with a 70% slowdown is better than 6 seconds at 85% slowdown if it means I can actually attack ppl.

still not fixed.... this is so infuriating, seems to only work when dealing crit hit. pairing knives with a sandy is basically useless rn if you miss one knife...

You need to wait for a fix, for example i had serious performance problem occured after updating to 2.3. And it wasnt enough, after i updated my chipset driver it got worse to a point i cant play in dogtown (base game is somewhat non problematic) I finally re installed windows, problematic driver and the game from scratch and all performance come back. At least i could play it with reasonably. I am still saying that 2.3 patch bring more performance problems overall. Just dont use knifes, go with legendary silencer and katanas. Overwatch doesnt work too, just go with tech wepons.

Keep the reports coming in for this. I think it's very well documented across platforms. But be sure to send in a ticket, and follow up on any tickets as new updates are released.
