From this thread:http://en.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?/topic/23647-insane-saves-problem/
As for a copy-paste cheat protection, there is no such thing. I gave one of my friends one of my Insane Saves at almost the very end of the game so he could get steam achievement and it worked fine for him to load it.

Also you can just hit escape quickly after you die but before 'gameover' and reload a save...

I don't see how you can cheat the game when your insane saves are deleted when you die.

They're not deleted, they just won't load any more.

I have continued with the game in chapter one now but i think i can easily cheat if i wanted to because of the many save games

You die on Insane ALL those saves cannot be used again, all of them, even if you reload an older save to fight a battle just because you like it then die you will still lose your newer saves if you die.

That is like saying termination and extermination are one and the same...

The difference is that some people seem to think that if the files are deleted, all they need to do is keep backups in order to bypass the mechanism.

But I agree that it shouldn't make a difference. If you are playing the game with the expectation that "If you die, you have to start again at the beginning", then the mechanics of how it saves, and how it knows you died, become irrelevant.
