Intelligence Perk Tree should be reworked a bit

+
Right now, the whole tree relies on you have a Cyberdeck. Which means that if you use any of the other 3 operating systems, putting anything above 3 in intelligence is extremely bad. Even the smart weapon branch ties into having a cyberdeck.

I feel like it limits the options for other build types and forces them to make less decisions. If they had to think of whether they want to exchange some reflex points for intelligence points in their build, then that opens up more choices and opportunities and playstyles.

The middle branch is what I would rework a bit to make it more in line with other attributes who also have more options for more ”generic” perks that every build can use in the middle.

Perhaps other operating systems could unlock a mini-Cyberdeck upgrade on their operating system of some sorts that is very scaled back in its usage and therefore will be even more dependent on the perks of the intelligence tree to be used effectively which means if one wants to combine their sandevistans with some Quickhacks they will have to give up on a lot of other perks.

It could be locked out of using combat and even control Quickhacks, only allowing device, vehicle, and covert Quickhacks with the right perks equipped etc.

I’m sure it could be balanced by requirement of perks to make efficient such as to increase RAM and RAM recovery as the item itself would only have a base RAM and not be affected by upgrades. As well as the occupation of Cyberware Capacity etc.

Unlocking a path to access smart weapons and force players into making decisions about whether speccing into intelligence independent of operating system is beneficial imo.

Personally, I think it would be fine if non-Cyberdeck OS simply had access to some rudimentary Cyberdeck functions.

Like, give non-Cyberdecks, access to a couple of Quickhack slots that can be filled with T1 non-Combat quickhacks (Irregardless of the quality of the OS cyberware) and access to the basic object hacks.

Then these other OS's would have some use for speccing into Intelligence, with its bonuses for RAM and hack utilities (Like the bonus damage from detonating gas canisters)

In regards to the Intelligence tree itself... It could do with some tweaks. Since even when I was playing full on Hacky Smart Weapon using INT builds, I felt that half the tree was useless to me.

Yes!

That’s smart!

I could see a minor rework of the tree, to make it less cyberdeck only and provide some benefits to other playstyles.

And as you said, they could rework the operating systems so with the berserker and sandevistan for example, one would be like no cyberdeck for people who really hate that and don’t want to whereas the others will be reworked with some niches in mind, like one sandevistan model only allows a couple covert quickhacks, while another has a slot for control quickhacks etc.

with reworking the branch to maybe include abilities to unlock perks that maybe unlock a ”control” quickhack slot or even a ”combat” quickhack slot on very high tier you can mix and match and if you want to make best use of the cyberdeck only than minor utility you need to spec all the way into intelligence even with a sandevistan or maybe you only want some benefits such some extra RAM and 4 or 9 is sufficient instead etc etc.
