Faith? Not at all, just trust after two great games, years of absolute respect to their followers and maybe a couple of disappointings (/> ) since 2007. All the contrary I've found in other companies/publishers....

Sorry If I came across as implying they're trying to «cheat». That's not what I think. Perhaps «get away with» was a poor choice of words from my part.

Designing a game is a balancing act. Again, Konrad might deem other aspects more important, which he has every right to. He has a bird's eye view of the entire game, what needs to get done, by whom and by when.

Yet, personally, while I'm quite confident TW3 will be a landmark in the genre, there are a few specifics which leave me uneasy, Novigrad's size being one of them, especially since they've chosen not to leave us in the dark about it, at least not completely.

So it is not like I assume CDProjekt is out to con us. They simply might feel differently about Novigrad's size. They might believe it's not that important, that it won't be that big of a deal now that Oxenfurt is no more, and thus the resources are better spent elsewhere.

All in all, I'm simply borrowing Emporizon's tactics, replacing CIri with decent-sized-Novigard />

Well sorry for any misunderstanding if there was one.

I also want Novigrad to be much bigger than what it seemed to be in the trailer, but since i also dont know what is it that they might be prioritizing instead of Novigrad's size, i havent started thinking yet if they are taking away Oxenfurt for example to make Novigrad appear bigger than it is.

Im pretty confident they do consider Novigrad very important though, because its one of the main 3 locations in the whole game, and in fact i think that if Oxenfurt is no more, then it will be even more important, cause that'll make it the only city in the game, big or small.

So to me, they are dealing with how to make Novigrad, rather than dealing with how to do some sort of damage control or dissimulate it. That'll be later if they even need antyhing like that, after all, RED are known for wanting to follow the lore closely, so i think that they want the city to be as authentic as possible, and if they cant do it, its probably for the best, we know ambition is not strange to these guys.

hmm that made me think is still dont have my own Ciri or Novigrad-size kind of thing, ill have to come up with one and start bothering people ASAP :D

Maybe they wanted to make Oxenfurt, but since we told them Novigrad looked way too small, they had to put their effort into Novigrad. They want to do everything the best they can and not just 'decent'. So perhaps they did not see any time to make Oxenfurt.

I'm still sad about no more Witcher 1 composers for Witcher 3.

Am I the only one worried that no more original Polish composers is a terrible idea by CDPR? They are gone, all of them. No more Polish sound designers, at least to my knowledge. No more of this:

Nope, you're not the only one. They have been with the series from the beginning and it's hard to imagine a Witcher game without their sound

My theory is that they simply couldn't do much with it. Why? Because it's pretty much just an university, so I really doubt it that we would find there any job for a witcher and adding some big location just to walk around without doing nothing particular would be just a waste of the resources.

I find it hard to imagine an open world game where the music goes along smoothly. It's all one big area, so when does the music change?

You are not the only one, the music from TW1 was very personal and atmospheric so hopefully they can find composers to recreate music as good.

Let's hope for the best. Music is quite crucial to set the mood of a Witcher game right.

Let's give the new guys a chance to prove themselves. What they've shared thus far is agreeable, though, not having played past Witcher games, it's hard for me to gauge the standards they are supposed to live up to.

Let's give them the benefit of the doubt, at the very least.

I'm a bit apprehensive, but why do you assume this was a deliberate decision by CDPR? I mean, the interview says they tried to get Skorupa, so obviously the idea wasn't "Get rid of all the original composers."

They are gone, all of them. No more Polish sound designers, at least to my knowledge. No more of this:

Sound design is not the same thing as music, even though music can make use of sound design. Still, Skorupa did also do sound design for the games, but they'll probably be re-using a lot of the sound effects anyway, unlike the music.

Well, I imagine combat will trigger a change, just like in the previous two games. They'll also likely have transition points, so that when you enter a village area, you get the "Village Theme" or whatever. Whether it'll just be a cross-fade thing or all the cues will be written so that they can blend smoothly into one another....who knows?

I think the "original" was the more important word here ;)

Anyway, I'm also not exactly thrilled by the absence of the Witcher veterans in the music department, but still the team has my benefit of doubt. Speaking frankly, I personally never saw him as the best composer for the Witcher series in the first place, it's just not his type of music. He's far better with electronic sounds, having roots in demoscene and all, while TW requires more of a lyrical approach to both instrumentation and composition. I'm looking forward to hearing some music samples for the new Witcher, and if the music in this video is anything to judge by, I'm all for. Especially the vocal part at the end - pure joy. Perhaps some mp3 sample, eh CDPR? ;)

Good news! Sorry for being a worry wart. I just feel the Poles obviously have a unique connection to the subject matter.
