Thanks for the handy collection of all the articles in the OPs post. Looks like it will take the rest of the week to go through all of these, bloody hell.

That was a great interview, Daniel Bloodworth is one of the few good gaming journalists out there.

Last gameplay and Sword of Destiny show differences, not huge but, some textures are lower in vegetation, lighting looks a little lesser quality and looks like the first trailers and gameplay had some post process effect like "sweet fx" or some shader reduced color saturation and making some more contrast and shadows.

If i'm asked, adding Parallax Occlusion Mapping to the ground and some sweet FX preset that uses 1fps only, this game could look Better than ANYTHING in gaming history. I don't know why developers keep making videos with some cosmetic post process effects that later make controversy and complains, rightly done ones.

sounds like the delay was needed. Thanks CDPR for having the good sense to release a well polished game.:hatsoff:

This guy sounded like he actually had a clue about what he was on about. It all sounds really good.

I'd compare it rather to supernatural. I see The Witcher as a fantasy-world medieval version of Supernatural. Basically you are monster hunters on a quest to save the world from it's filth, often life of the hand with barely enough to get through, you are on the road a lot, often the situations are not black and white, every character has an angle - his or her own motivations and - last but not least, there is an overarching plot which involved personal motivations and feelings.

the only thing similar in supernatural and the witcher is supernatural have two clear protagonist, the witcher one, but taht's close. And the characters are hunters who seek in some minimal degree inside their jobs, justice, accepting the grays of life. That's is only SOME of the argument. EVERYTHING ELSE IS DIFFERENT, and how the story is designed, how the world is, how the monsters are, how is shown this story and world, all the story except for the job of hunting things, is obviously close to game of thrones and even better designed to me, because is based on books similar to game of thrones but better in my opinion.

Sorry but nothing to do with Supernatural.

Not really an interview/review, but CDPR made it to the front page of reddit:

Also read the thing with "wannabe HBO" - Only someone clueless would write that.

But overall I think it is a good comparison to make between the The Witcher's world and GOT. At least in regards to TW games and HBO's Game of Thrones. Both have a very gritty, violent and realistic atmosphere with the, as mentioned, supernatural element. In TW it is more apparent but GOT also has dragons, "monsters" and magic stuff going on. The supernatural element is, in my view, a more integrated part of TW's world, even for the common folk, where in GOT the tales of the white walkers, for example, are only stories of old for most people.

Sorry of this is off-topic?

- I am VERY pleased with what I have seen and read today about TW3 and further confirmed by resolve to buy a new rig just for this instead of playing on PS4. TBH though I had expected Shani to be in the game and had hoped for it too. I liked picking up herbs etc. in TW1 but rarely used it in TW2 as far as i remember. So not sure what to think of the auto refill implementation.

EXCITED!

I definitely enjoyed the impressions provided and it especially sounds like high end PC gamers are in for an extra special graphical treat. im hoping the dev team continue to push the comparatively under powered consoles since I. Probably won't take the PC gaming plunge for a little bit longer. Anyways, great impressions from the duo in the vid. Can't wait for more.

I've thought of that comparison before myself. But it makes sense the more you think about it. TW3 isn't a sandbox-y "go anywhere you want, do anything you want" open world game like Elder Scrolls is and it's not a "run around a city goofing off with dumb sh*t" type of open-world that GTA is. It's a story-driven open world with a very concise narrative direction.

This makes me happy...because I remember playing RDR for the first time, when it first came out, and by the time I got a horse in the game I turned to my girlfriend and said something like "I wish someone would make an awesome rpg fantasy game like this, I knew Rockstar never wood, but it would be an rpg video game come true."
RDR still has that special something about it, I loved the lighting and mood in that game, it felt like I have been to those places in real life. The atmosphere is nothing short of magic! Now here we are 5 years later and lookie.. lookie.. what CDPR Team is bringing to the table this May! ;)

Maybe RDR is a good game, very good game, but it isn't a RPG, skyrim being just good for me is more close i think to what the witcher 3 will be, but those games are different overall. CDPR is making a game different in many aspects to anything we had, specially in gameplay related to games that are open world.

I'm every day more confident of this game being the best we will see in many time, the best game i will play.

OK, I just read both articles. They're far better than any of the official ones just because you can tell that it was written by fans with... proper knowledge.
I don't need to know anything else... Now there is only pain... till May 19th.

Once Gregski is done, everyone should read it!

This is the most glowing preview I've read yet. Not what I would've expected from Kotaku.

I was not going to read that Kotaku interview at first... BUT THIS MAN UNDERSTANDS WRITING. Now I must. There's like... 5?10? videogames in the history of videogames that have good great writing, one of them being Witcher 2 and I can't stress that point enough, it was what made the entire game. I'd even go at length to call it revolutionary in an age of HORRENDOUS writing.

*clams down*
Okay, okay, back to work.

in this preview by meristation(spanish), they played the game in hard mode to test combat, they didnt judged it much because the time with the game was short, but they said it definitely seems more agile and fluid than TW2, and that the new dodge moves work well and dont break the pace of the combat, eventually leaving rolling as an emergency for the most demanding enemy attacks.

But also they said that in Hard, health does not have auto-regen, and you have to eat for that, because unlike in normal, meditating does not give health in hard. http://www.meristation.com/pc/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt/avance-juego/1836154/2037106

This playstation universe article has nice things to say about the combat, signs felt balanced and all valuable choices, the combat feels fluid and its timing seems fair and accurate. http://www.psu.com/preview/25675/The-Witcher-3-Preview--We-played-the-first-four-hours/?page=1
