What is interesting to me is that the last two immpresions of the game i read were that the W3 looks amazing and that is very believable (and one guy says that if you have a high end PC you are in for a treat), but on the other hand this guy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzHTz2GZOq8 said that everything in the game is great, except the graphic are not as good as he tought it would be, and that because of that the game doesnt feel believable as it could. So exactly opposite of what the first two said, why there is so much difference in opinion? Only clue is that since the guy who said it doesnt look so good, stated that game looks like it is on XBOX 360, so i think that he played on X1, and the guys who said graphics are great played it on PC.
I could be wrong, but I had to share my thoughts, I am really glad that they said it looks great.
This seems to be a case of confirmation bias at its finest. On the one hand we have dozens of journalists who got their hands on the game during the preview event back in January - all of whom (or almost all of them, before someone gets nitpicky) were mightily impressed with the visual aspects of the game no matter what platform* they played on and have written extensively about it. On the other hand there's this guy on youtube who looks like he's seventeen** and can barely express with words why he found the graphics lacking - he's literally not able to formulate a coherent response beyond "Well, density and expansiveness might reduce fidelity" (which is just parroting what the other guys have suggested as the reason for his disappointment) when asked to elaborate on his impression - that gets people overly worried.
Are we just going to ignore all the journalists who had such an overwhelming positive take on the game - especially in regards to the graphics - or assume that, since they play games for a living, the clearly don't know what they're talking about (being all naive and impressionable), or worse, have all been bribed by CDPR?

I mean, I get that we are oftentimes suspicious of too much hype and praise, and thus tend to see dissenting voices as "the ones who dare to speak the truth", and given the ever-present downgrade talk in this forum I can see how this might confirm some folks' fear. But come on ... the guy seemed really out of his depth in regards to the visual quality of the game, and not just because of his clearly hyperbolic XBox 360 comparison. Now, if he had further detailed (textures, lighting, resolution, shaders, AA, draw distance etc.) what exactly bothered him so much and not appeared so clueless and unsure when discussing the specifics of "graphical fidelity", I perhaps might have taken him a bit more serious.
Also, where are those other people he refers to that alledgedly shared his disappointment? One might think they would have found some outlet to voice their opinion by now. It's not like there is some kind of embargo in place that prohibits them from posting or something similar.
With that being said, I agree with Geralt_of_bsas, who not only pointed out that we already have console footage (even if the amount is rather scarce compared to the plethora of PC footage) and images that give us an indication how the finished product will look like, but that, after playing the game for a while, you won't pay that much attention to individual graphical elements that might be a tad better realized on another platform anyway. You'll be too occupied by this freakin' awesome game, its world, characters, game mechanics, plot, atmosphere, missions etc.pp.
*Despite the reports that the PC version on High settings looks the best out of the three (which was to be expected, so no surprise there), I can't remember anyone describing the XBox One version as bad looking or anything to that effect. Far from it. The general consensus seemed to be that The Witcher 3, overall, will be the best looking game on any platform thus far.
**Not to go all ad hominem here - after all, he's able to convey the astonisment the sheer immersive quality of the game creates quite well - but he wouldn't be my go-to guy for seeking information on the more technical facets of gaming.
