Because the presentation involved a talking magic tree right after but he was so far up his own ass thinking about this passive aggressive aritcle he's going to write to connect the dots

What has that tree to do with anything? There's absolutely no connection whatsoever.

Except the quest involved a magic talking tree which they talk to after. He couldn't burn the roots and they needed to dive to reach their destination ( to showcase diving).

He's incredibly dumb, and at no point did it come to his mind that this was an extremely practiced presentation and the developers wouldn't say that their game doesn't make sense.

Oh why can't we burn the roots
I know we will dive under (WE HAVE DIVING :DDD)
Aha a magic talking tree

Only this guy was so far up his own ass to understand simple presentation mechanics

If that's the case that a major failure on CDPR's part in explaining mechanics. Pretty simple.

You don't go and say "now we will burn these roots.. oh, why isnt it working, uhh emm ok i dont know, lets dive", you say "we could try to burn these roots, as with others maybe, but these are too strong, so in TW3 many times like this you will have to find alternative passages using new methods of epxloration, like diving"

Its not an amateur YT "let's play" for entertainment, its a presentation

It was a mistake on the journalists part for having an iq of 50.

I watched someone sum up the presentation in six minutes and I understood what was going on

the jusnalis clearly has an iq of 50....they tried to burn the roots to show that under normal conditions it would be an option but this being a magical tree that will not work, so you HAVE to serch for an alternative.....burning vegetation vas in TW2 already but it was specific to a quest, now you can do it but that doesn't mean you can set fire to the whole forest. why is that hard to understand?

I made a mistake, it wasn't a magic tree, it was a tree spirit that is WRAPPED UP IN ROOTS. he didn't make the connection between roots and roots

It's still important journos at least try to point out flaws rather than gush all time.

I don't think comments like these are helping your argument.

From what I understood from the rootsgate description, it was a classic example of a feature not working as it's supposed to during an official presentation. As a developer I can vouch that Murphy's laws are absolute and unyielding :p

For everyone who reads the RPS article: please don't go to the comment section. You will get depressed.

Preview by Polygon combined with questions for Konrad, some spoilers of the quest of the demo appear, and also about some extremely important characters.

http://www.polygon.com/a/e3-2014/the-witcher-3-the-wild-hunt

"From what we've been shown Witcher 3 will carry on the tradition of weighty consequence."

"To game director Tomazkiewicz, it's like making the real Witcher game for the first time..."In my opinion," says Tomazkiewicz, "There is no Geralt without Ciri and Yennefer.""

"Tomazkiewicz told us that Geralt will be able to do everything he can on the ground while riding a horse, be that cast a spell or wield his silver swords....The fact of the matter is we didn't see mounted combat in the guided demonstration. Tomazkiewicz says the reason for its omission was because their demo, already 45-minutes in length, would have run far too long. I have reason to be skeptical of that claim."

"There were graphical bugs throughout the demo, including texture popping, clipping issues and strange hair physics. All to be expected in a work in progress, but nevertheless reason for concern."

"The truth is that CDProjekt has a history of releasing games that don't live up to expectations. They've released broken and buggy products before, and this title is particularly complex" (the guy said this in a video version of the article but he only mentions buggy products, not the living up to expectations part, I assume he only meant technical expectations, not quality wise)

"Polygon asked what was next for the series, a question that stopped Tomazkiewicz short. The franchise, he said, was too important to the company to drop entirely. There would be a break, some time for the company to focus on Cyberpunk 2077."

"Reservations aside, Witcher 3 looks like one of the most lively and dangerous fantasy worlds ever created"

What continues to surprise me though is that no new information seems to be coming out of these interviews, except in the rare instances where an accidental or deliberate slip of tongue happens. And even then, there's no follow up.

Up until now, the RPS piece has been by far the best article to come out of E3.

Indeed, what have we learnt directly from E3 so far...? There's the new footage of course, but that just reassured things that we have already known (or assumed).
But if you take the Sword of Destiny trailer into account, then we actually got quite a good amount of new information.
And I think there are still a lot of interviews left to be posted (gamermd83 and AngryJoe for example) that can provide with some fresh info about the game.

The RPS comments are quite heterogeneous, as they usually are (it's the only videogame media i check periodically), but they are as skeptic with the game as they are with Nathan's review (many complain about the brothel criticism, etc...) so I see no problem there.

The Polygon's review, though.... I don't know why, but it irks me a bit. And not because is probably the most conservative / less positive review I have read these days. I don't know exactly why. Anyway, thanks for the link.

-mounted combat confirmed
-swimming in all bodies of water, even the seas
-underwater combat and monsters
-most of the buildings in Novigrad we can explore..... O_O
-huge dungeons confirmed
-Horse racing and boat racing

-underwater combat and monsters - that's new, but also a little worrying
-most of the buildings in Novigrad we can explore..... O_O - buildings were enterable in previous games as well, now I wonder whether we can enter buildings like churches, schools, etc. as well, that would be something
-huge dungeons confirmed - nice, but hinted in SoD trailer
-Horse racing and boat racing - boat racing is new, horse racing is pre-E3

Now mind that I'm satisfied with what we got (especially the new footage), but they do seem pretty tight-lipped still. Of course, the marketing campaign is still at a relatively early stage.

Well about the polygon preview: compare it with the AC Unity article: http://www.polygon.com/a/e3-2014/assassins-creed-unity

While TW 3's article's author puts in a lot of his subjective opinions, AssCreed's lacks them totally. It's just dev interview quotes. Why? I'm not arguing about the feel/opinion that the authors pass, but I have a feeling that different form of these 2 articles favorizes AC quite a lot. Hm...?

Same here. I think it's because the preview is quite professional in execution and balanced in opinions, but the person writing and delivering it still sounds like he's not totally getting the Witcher lore etc.

Oh, I feel that a lot when people are talking/writing about the Witcher games. Generally, everybody says nice things about them (and CDPR), but there's always that 'neutrality' (or ignorance?) that I can't really put my finger on.
