Confirmed:
Novigrad: 8.5 km x 8.5 km = 72,25 km2
Skellige: 8 km x 8 km = 64 km2

Unconfirmed:
All 3 regions together are around 200 km2.

Unless I missed something, it's more like "unconfirmed" and "speculation". If you ask me, a piece of information is confirmed only when it comes straight out of a developer's mouth, which as far as I know hasn't happened yet. I'm hopeful that a clarification can arrive after the weekend. ;)

It came directly from CDPR in their GDC presentation.

Slide nr 46.

I can't see the link right now, but if it's this slide you're talking about, it was posted a couple pages ago and we've been discussing it since then.

I don't know the context of those numbers, and since we've already seen several contrasting "confirmed" map sizes (which is supposed to be 20% bigger than Skyrim, so much smaller than that), I'll wait to hear it directly from a Red before jumping to conclusions.

yep. That's the slide.

They're all saying that, but so far we don't have sh*t. It's like they're eating ice cream in front of us by 50°C and all say "oh I'm sorry, I can't give you a bite, I promised it to my mom." To those I just want to say "so shut the f*ck up and f*ck you". :D

(This is not an aggressive post, just pointing out the situation, where people are saying "hey, you know what? I know things you don't know. No, I can't say more, just wait a year.")

The whole thing is a bit confusing, based on raw miles the world of TW3 makes Skyrim look tiny and that does not correlate with the 20% statement.

Confusing indeed. I tried calling the good @Marcin Momot to join in and clarify a few pages back, but I didn't receive word. So I'll just try again, but any Red is welcome, really. :troll:

Now that articles have started appearing around the web, it would be cool to know if those numbers are relating to the actual map size or if they're something technical we didn't grasp.

Probably busy yelling at the guy who got the measurements wrong.

It would be nice to know, if it truly is that size than I can not imagine it not being as semi empty as Skyrim was in places. I have faith in the devs but to fill a world of that size with handcrafted quests and content would take an insane amount of years/time.

It is all a lie. They started working on this game about ten years ago. Thank you area 51 :) lol...

Reading your ridiculous post, I realized it's not that ridiculous afterall. Long time since the first Witcher came out. There definitely were many ideas that weren't implemented in both TW1 & 2. Money, time, tech, there could be many reasons. I can imagine they revived lots of these ideas in TW3.

The Witcher 3 – CD Projekt RED Comments on Game World Size, Could be “even bigger” by Release
Yesterday a news story about the playable world size of The Witcher 3 was posted online containing information from a set of slides from a presentation that showed dimensions for two of the locations in the game, the city of Novigrad and Skellige.

the Witcher 3: What Does Geralt, Batman And Lara Have In Common?
A CDProjekt RED dev makes a kinda silly comparison, but hey, maybe you agree.
read for more here : http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/...t-does-geralt-batman-and-lara-have-in-common/

The Novigrad city in the open-world action role-playing game apparently takes up 44.89 square miles in space alone. Another area, Skellige, has a size of 39.77 square miles. To compare, “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” has a play area of 14.8 square miles.is it tru ??
